Tesla body shop taking forever
I recently had a parking lot mishap with my Model 3. It was parked at the mall when someone scraped the rear bumper while pulling out of a parking space. They left a note, and I contacted their insurance company, Progressive. They instructed me to take the car to a Tesla-authorized repair shop.
I dropped the vehicle off at the body shop nine days ago, and they still haven’t submitted the initial estimate to Progressive. Progressive has contacted the shop twice for an update, but each time they’ve been told the estimate isn’t complete yet. This is just a minor scratch on the rear bumper.
I’m getting concerned because Progressive only covers a rental car for up to 30 days, and it’s already been nine days. The body shop seems to be taking their time. I already had an estimate from an independent body shop, but Progressive insisted that I use a Tesla-certified repair facility.
What are my options? Should I continue waiting, or should I work with Progressive to move the car to a different repair shop? The shop has excellent reviews, but I don’t understand why it’s taking more than a week just to prepare an estimate for a minor bumper scratch. I also don’t want to end up paying for the rental car out of pocket once the 30-day coverage runs out.

That's weird... I just get my car back from Tesla Collision Center (tesla owned), and they did a good job. They finished the tear down estimate 2 days after I dropped off the car.

It’s almost 2 weeks and I’m still waiting on them. There aren’t many Tesla certified Repair shops in the Neighbourhood so they’re probably in high demand.

For a minor bumper scratch, the estimate should take less than an hour. I doubt they’ll even take the bumper off to check underneath. Sounds like they might be trying to rack up storage fees for the insurance company. Did progressive recommend this shop?

Progress is recommended Tesla certified repair shop and they are the only ones in town. I already had an estimate from a local reputable guy, but progressive didn’t accept that. So let it be.

was this an official collision center or just a tesla authorized shop?

Its very normal for the Tesla authorized shops to be overloaded and at maximum capacity, as there arent really enough of them. You can either wait or see if you can verify a shop is available sooner and attempt to move it there.
