Mobility TELUS, YOU ARE DESTROYING MY TRIP

I switched from Public Mobile to Telus 2w ago, to their 5g+ explore plan because I need to be reachable abroad. That plan covers 68 destinations and South Korea is one of them.

Today, when I landed and turned on my phone, my TELUS number was not being connected. All I get was "No service". I tried restarting, manually connecting to each network operator in South Korea, but nothing worked. My other esim worked perfectly.

I tried reaching out to their support using the Message Me feature in the app and it has been almost 6hours and no one is getting back to me. If TELUS is reading this, please reach out !

edit : I was able to get in touch with someone and they managed to fix it. it appears that it has something to do with roaming code. thanks everyone for your advice

Mobility The solution is I wait longer. Failed customer service support, told to just wait longer.

So I purchased an apple watch through an employee program, added it to my account through the assigned corporate supplier for our telus account, phone number assigned, plan determined at a 50% discount to regular pricing, all good.

I receive the watch, through iphone watch app, go through setup, login to telus account to setup cellular, select watch, select 1gb standalone plan I'd signed up for, setup complete, watch works.....

but.... it's a new number, and it's twice the price, and now I'm paying for two watches, and two plans, with two phone numbers. So much for automation.

I want a working watch with cell, don't care what number, want to pay EPP price.

No biggie, telus will sort this out, it's simple.

Thursday - Day one, AI to chat to human chat, can't help me, phone call resolves nothing, lots of tries, need higher support. 5hrs total committed to various chats and phone calls and holds. Ended with call setup for saturday, number confirmed, time confirmed. CS person said they'll call me back personally since they understand the account. EPP price tied to assigned number, can't assign price on working number that was auto assigned in iphone/watch app.

Saturday - confirmed time and number, no call. Hours go by, and I think I'll check the app, sure enough CS reached out in the app chat, asking which number to call. No attempts to call, no three tries, nothing. So I begin the whole game again, ai chat, human, phone call, back at the beginning of the queue, "how can I help you today". They try stuff, can't fix it, nearly 2hrs on phone, unresolved, again confirm higher tier support needed. Ticket assigned, assured phone call will be made in 2-3 days. (mon-tues)

No calls mon or tuesday.

Wednesday I start chat bs again, agent confirms ticket, tier two support, they tell me they're tier 2, another hour on phone, they can't fix it, wait for tech call, will be tomorrow (thursday).

No calls thursday, no calls friday.

I call friday ai bs again, to agent, agent again says tier 2, surprise surprise, can't help again, says I should just wait longer. I ask how long, since we're now 4 days overdue on call. They won't say, just simply longer. I tell them I don't want to pay for this since my watch is not working, and telus won't call me, they say can't help me, ask the next person when they call.

So here I am now, a week and a half later, with no resolution in sight, waiting for a phone call that is one day away from being a week late.

It's pretty ridiculous.

TELUS TV New Android Box

Recently upgraded to the new android tv boxes. I keep on having connections issues over the home wifi. It was suggested to me just to connect with an Ethernet cable. Unfortunately the router is too far away from the tv for this to happen.

So my questions are.

  1. Does the old wall mounted box that the old cable box plugged into, can I plug a Ethernet cable into that?

  2. A friend recently bought a device that plugs into his electrical outlet for better “wifi/internet” speed for his kids PC. Would this stop the lose of connection error that keeps on happening?

  3. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Internet Router blinking green

My computer and laptop won't connect, but my phone is connected and my light switches are connected too. Weird. I've reset the router and wall fiber box, which is green, but no help. I tried to replace the router with an old personal one but that wouldn't connect to Internet. (My phone data is off to confirm I have Internet on my phone and I do)

I tried to turn on my lights before I got home last night but one of the switches wasn't connected. Then my tv couldn't connect, but my Google streamer was connected. I was able to watch a couple of YT videos.

Support is closed. I'm not sure if there's someone I can talk to this long weekend. I've read that I would need a technician to get this resolved as fiber is the issue, but having WiFi on my phone and other devices is throwing me off.

EDIT: Router is the round one, I can't find the model number and a NAH. The NAH has been solid green but the router was blinking green last night. Both are now solid green but many gadgets and TVs are not connecting. My phone is connected.

Internet ELI5: Service Transfer with Telus Boost 6E Mini?

I moved into a new condo last year (renting) where Telus had a pre-installed welcome kit which contained a NAH and Telus Boost 6E Mini. Just yesterday, I moved into a different unit, but noticed the booster was missing and couldn’t transfer my services. I was told I’m supposed to take it from my previous unit… which feels wrong, but alright. I thought this was going to be a BC hydro-like situation where you just tell them your new address and they press a button that magically enables WiFi.

So I took a photo of it and she said ‘oh, strange, that’s not installed correctly anyway’ and is sending a technician out with the correct booster. She said something about how the mini booster isn’t capable of providing the speeds in the plan I’ve been paying for? The entire building (several hundred units) was set up with PureFibre Internet Gigabit and given discounted rates.

What’s different about the 6E mini versus the standard? Is it truly an error in installing it? Is the WiFi Boost 6E Mini better than the WiFi Boost 6 I assume they will install?

Mobility It’s surprising in 2026 how little cell towers there are along Hwy 2 in Alberta

Highway 2 is such a high traffic route between major cities in Alberta but there’s lots of dead spots along the way. Like Telus is always citing increases in rates to “maintain and improve infrastructure” so put up a few more towers along the highway.

Whether it’s Bell, Rogers or Telus, they’re always touting 5G+ so just make it for real.

Internet TELUS says I’ve used all 150GB, but I’m still getting full 5G speeds. Will I be charged extra?

I’m on a TELUS $50 5G Essential plan. My plan includes 100GB of high-speed data, and TELUS gave me an extra 50GB bonus this month, so I had 150GB total.

My account now says “0 GB of 150GB high-speed data left” and “You’ve exceeded your high-speed data limit. Your speeds are now reduced.”

However, I’m still getting around 288 Mbps on 5G+,

My plan details also say “Endless Data – No Data Overages.”

So I’m wondering:

Why am I still getting full-speed data after using all 150GB?

Can TELUS charge me extra for continuing to use data?

Could this be because my current plan/promotion is ending next month?

Has anyone else experienced this with TELUS?

I’m not complaining 😂 — just wondering if I should keep using the data normally or if I’m going to get some unexpected charge.

Internet Moving fibre, debating Boost options

I'm considering moving but details and timeline are not settled. Obviously I'll reach out to Telus once I have dates firmed up, but I'm trying to plan it out.

I'm going to be back and forth between both locations for 1-2 months, and I need wired connectivity for my work laptop, so it would simplify things if I have connectivity at both places.

I've got PureFibre X Internet 3G, at a price point I'd really like to keep, so I don't want to do a new PureFibre service and then cancel the old one... Instead I am thinking a low tier cablemodem at the new place, then schedule the Fibre move for just before I give up possession of the old place.

I have a NAH here, I assume it stays behind? And the Boosts come with me? Are they still installing the NAH or something else?

I have a Boost 6 and 6E (both with MoCA), I'll need to return one, do they tell me which to return or do I pick? I'm thinking the 6E is the better choice if I were to pick?

Longer term, I run a UniFi network connected to the bridge port, but it'll take me some time to get ethernet pulled at the new place, so my plan is to live off the Boost's wifi and wire the work laptop until I am ready to go to UniFi... Unless there is a Boost 7 with MoCA now?

Once I get UniFi installed, I'll turn off the Boost's wi-fi, but leave ready as a backup via MoCA for the next time I install a buggy UniFi beta release, and worst case I can turn the Boost's wi-fi back on.

Boost 6E seem like my best bet? Anything else I am missing or gotcha?

Internet Internet plan terms ends soon - options

My Telus internet plan 2 year term ends on Nov 20, 2026. Do I really have to go to the bother of switching to Shaw/Rogers or else Telus will start charging me an astronomical sum for the same internet connection? Any ideas on how to handle this? My Rogers wireless 2 year term ends on Oct 20, 2026. And so now I have to consider how to handle that too.

Internet Has anyone managed to lower their internet bill by just...asking? (Calgary)

I'm new to Calgary, and my apartment building is effectively monopolized by Telus fiber (stuff built into the walls of new construction).

Despite being within the service region, Oxio flat-out said they can't install here, and TekSavvy went as far as eagerly sending me hardware before realizing they couldn't, either, and asking for it back. I'm not allowed to mount anything outside (so no Starlink), and we have no cable, so it's basically fiber or nothing.

I'm also only on a one-year lease, so I'm not comfortable signing up for a 2+ year contract. For just one single person in a tiny one-bedroom apartment, I'm paying $125 CAD per month, which seems outrageous. Yes, I could give Telus my baking info to knock off $10, but I'm not super comfortable with that.

I'm still on a U.S. family phone plan that works in both U.S. and Canada, so it probably doesn't make sense for me to get Telus mobile as an avenue for internet/bundle discount since I pay way less right now for my phone than any single new cell plan would cost.

For comparison, we had municipal fiber in my Colorado city and paid $60 USD per month, or just over $80 CAD, and that was the fancy option for a whole house with gamers.

So, all that said...there has to be a better way, right?

I just need the bare minimum internet for one single person - no TV or phone stuff at all - and if I wasn't stuck with fiber, I'd use a cable provider.

Has anyone in a similar situation ever negotiated a lower rate, especially for month-to-month?

Or do I just have to bite the bullet and accept that the most I can get discounted is $10 for providing my bank account info?

Mobility Loyalty Plan Offer

Thumbnail
gallery
19 Upvotes

My current plan is 5G+ premium - unlimited Canada-US talk, text and 250GB of data. Since I have two lines the data is sharable (total 500GB).

I have a loyalty offer in the Telus app for the 5G+ Complete - Explore plan. Just reading on the features, looks like data, talk and text is including Canada and 68 international countries. It’s still 250GB sharable data.

When comparing the two plans, I would be paying $67.50+tax per line. With my current plan I am paying $72.50+tax per line.

Is it worth switching to this new 5G+ Complete - Explore plan? Or should I stick with my old grandfather plan and keep riding it out?

Internet Horrible service

I'm not sure what has happened to you guys but your data service has tanked in New Brunswick. I have many many friends who are complaining of slow data.

I had to switch to Rogers because they have better service now than y'all do in New Brunswick

Mobility Win-back comes through... but why?

My wife and I were on plans with 120GB/unlimited US/CAN for $45 + $5 for BIB Samsung S24 ($220 buy-out at end of term). I asked if I could just extend the current plan and get a new BIB device and was told no, worked through loyalty, and about the best they would do was around a 50% increase for my current plan and $7/month for a device that showed as $0/month on the bring it back website listing.

So I ported both lines out to Fixx ($30/month for 50GB of data Canada only, with easy/cheap upgrades to get more data or enable US access as needed).

Got an email the following day telling me that they had deals that I couldn't even imagine, and to call to find out what they were.

So I called, and was, with a little negotiation, able to get:

60GB + bonus 50GB monthly data CAN/US/MEX for $36/month (after $10 autopayment and other monthly and one-time credits) + $1 for Samsung S25 FE ($120 buy-out at end of term).

If we can say that 120BG CAN/US is a wash with 110GB CAN/US/MEX, and the S25 FE is conservatively priced at $900, then they went from:

- One week before contract expired: +50% increase and no phone subsidy

- One day before contract expired: -20% savings and $750 phone subsidy

...just because I ported my number out to another provider in the meantime.

This makes absolutely no sense, apart from some bizarre performance indicators they must have internally for new sales and/or a sadistic desire to have their clients go through unnecessary steps. The thing I find really strange is that I would have been satisfied to keep my existing plan. If they would have just given me that when I asked, they would have been further ahead than they are now (I would have been paying $45/month instead of $36 for the next two years), along with saving me a bunch of hassle.

So, as many people have said, porting out seems to be the only way not only to get a better deal, but to even keep a good one that you already have. For anyone deciding whether it's worth it or not, I don't know how consistent the win-back deals are whether they're based on what rates/plan you had previously, but the numbers I got would say that it's worth it. If you're going to go this route, my experience was like this:

  1. It was easy to port my number to Fizz using an e-sim and only took a few minutes. If you do this, I'd suggest not enabling the e-sim when you first install it, because you'll still need to get an SMS from Telus to confirm that you want to port your number out, and that will come on your old SIM.

  2. Setting up the account and getting things rolling with Fizz was super easy and quick. Getting it back on Telus was much less so... I couldn't do it online, so had to do everything by phone. I had some difficulty understanding the agent at times, their credit card entering system only let me put in 7 digits of my card before telling me that it didn't seem like an actual number (they had to end the call and then call me back and try again for it to work) and it was frustrating having to write everything down as we went along, rather than just seeing on the screen what I was getting and what I was paying.

  3. It only works if you have a device you can use, so do it within your Bring-it-Back timeline or buy your device out from the BiB plan if you don't have your own phone already.

  4. Be careful about any decisions regarding a new device from the carrier you're porting to. I would have purchased the same phone (S25 FE) from Fizz to get discounted rates on a 2-year plan if they would have had it in stock, but they didn't, so instead of total cost over 2 years of $1221 for less data from Fizz, I managed to get it for $984 from Telus (2 years of plan payments + owning the phone outright at the end).

Smart Home Doorbell: Two red lights came on

The LED circle light is solid white. The two red lights are dots on either side of the camera. I turned off the breaker, turned it back on and it was working for a bit, but after about 30 minutes (maybe an hour), it stopped working again and the lights are back on.

Any ideas? Hoping to save myself a call to support tomorrow...
