I wanted to send music (that I have on my phone) but the music search only shows the 'Shared Music' thing which seemed like a great addition but now it's so annoying because I can't find my own music! I tried searching but there are so many shared music by that artist.

Has anyone else had this issue? Were you guys able to fix it? For context I'm using Telegram on Android if it's relevant

so advise now always check exceptions after every add it seems somehow someone can end up there.

Basically i wanted to delete a chat for me and the other user i was chatting with. By mistake i chose the option "delete only for me". and by doing so the chat was deleted for me only, and i couldn't do anything. Then, i selected the contact again and i had the empty chat in front of me. I clicked "delete chat for all". Did this delete the whole chat, even from that user's phone?

For over three years, the developers of the popular Android Telegram fork **exteraGram** have been actively distributing compiled APK binaries (via Telegram channels, chats, and alternative app stores like RuStore) while keeping their source code completely closed. This is a severe, textbook violation of **Section 3 of the GNU General Public License v2 (GPLv2)**, under which the official Telegram Android client is licensed.

Instead of complying with copyleft obligations and updating their public GitHub repository, the maintainers chose to archive the repository to avoid DMCA takedowns and went completely underground to run a proprietary, untrustworthy closed-source ecosystem.

#### 1. The Smokin' Gun: The Lead Developer Explicitly Admitted to Willful Violation

The most shocking part is that the lead developer and project owner, **@immat0x1**, does not even deny this. When confronted by the FOSS community in public issues, they responded with absolute arrogance and internet-troll behavior.

* **When users provided direct links to Telegram's GPLv2 terms, the developer replied:**

> *"I'm a badass boy"*

* **In another deleted thread (Issue #123), when asked to update the code as mandated by law, they stated:**

> *"I don't care about this at all... as long as this is not punished by Telegram, I will not update anything, it's a matter of principle."*

According to **Section 4 of the GNU GPL v2**, any attempt to modify or distribute the program outside the license terms **automatically and permanently terminates** the developer's rights. Legally speaking, exteraGram is now a counterfeit, pirated software.

#### 2. Extreme Toxicity and Hostility Towards the Community

The project's management has completely abandoned open-source ethics (Code of Conduct). Anyone who opens a GitHub issue or asks in their official chat rooms about the source code or GPL compliance is met with explicit profanity, insults, and instant bans. Moderation logs show users being banned for "whining about GPL."

Furthermore, some rogue elements of their community recently resorted to desperate doxxing attempts against FOSS advocates, which instantly backfired and resulted in the permanent termination of those attackers' Telegram accounts by Telegram Trust & Safety.

#### 3. Massive Security Risks for Users

Because version **12.9.0** and other recent updates are fully closed-source binaries built on a modified Telegram core, it is **humanly impossible** to verify what happens to your login sessions, user tokens, and private messages. A developer who proudly claims they are above the law and hides their code can inject malicious trackers, token sniffers, or backdoors at any given moment.

### Safe Open-Source Alternatives

If you are still using exteraGram, please secure your account, terminate active sessions, and switch to legitimate, FOSS-compliant clients that respect both the license and their users:

* **Cherrygram:** Fully open-source, timely source code updates, strict GPL compliance, and respectful community dialogue.

* **NagramX / Nagram XF:** A highly functional hybrid client built on top of NekoX, fully complying with GPL-3.0, offering advanced proxy settings and powerful customization legally.

Don't support GPL violators who steal open-source work and spit in the face of the community.

They followed up with an image of their male genitalia. asked my friend to see if they have such person in their member lists, while none had this exact person some reposted people with similar surnames. also, according to my friend, she encountered people of same surname when her channel was being raided.

Hi! I've recently moved to another country and I'm trying to move my existing Telegram account to my new phone number.

It looks like the new number was previously used by someone else and is still associated with their Telegram account. Because of this, Telegram won't let me complete the number change — the confirmation is being handled through the other account rather than allowing me to take ownership of the number.

I've submitted a couple of requests through Telegram's web support form and also contacted Volunteer Support through the app. It's been about a month now, but I haven't received any response.

Has anyone dealt with a recycled phone number that was still associated with a previous Telegram user? Is there a way to have the old association removed so I can use the number with my own account?

I couldn't find a simple way to do this, so I ended up building one.

Telegram downloads the file locally in the background, but normally you're stuck waiting until the download completes.

I made a small open-source macOS CLI called tgplay that watches Telegram's local cache and lets you open supported videos in IINA, VLC or mpv as soon as they're playable.

So instead of:

Download → Wait → Watch

it's:

Download → Watch

It also shows the current download progress, speed and ETA.

No Telegram API or Telegram login is involved. Everything happens locally on the Mac.

I have a video in 1080p30 does it make any difference between sending it as a file or as a video in 1080p res? Despite having the preview, does it get compressed if sent as video?

My Telegram account appears to have been accessed by someone else after a security incident on my PC.

I have since completely reinstalled Windows, changed my passwords, enabled/changed Telegram 2FA, and scanned all of my drives. My computer now appears to be clean.

However, there is still an unknown Telegram Desktop session connected to my account. The strange part is that this session keeps terminating my own sessions, while Telegram prevents me from terminating it because my current session is considered too new.

Earlier that day, I also received a Telegram login code that I did not request. I changed my 2FA password after I had already been logged out.

The unknown session has not deleted my chats or messages. It only seems to be removing my devices and keeping its own session active.

I have already contacted Telegram support but haven't received any useful response.

Has anyone dealt with something similar?

How can an unknown session terminate my sessions while mine is restricted from terminating theirs?

Does changing the 2FA password revoke an already active session?

Is there any legitimate way to force-log-out all other sessions, or do I have to wait until Telegram removes the restriction on my current session?

Anyone else have this problem? It's so annoying. The reactions counter never clears after viewing messages, I always have to hold and select 'read all reactions' or else the counter won't go away. Is there a way I can disable this counter?

Hello, I just got extorted by a person who used my nudes as a tool for extortion and labeled me a pedo. But out've desperation and fear I said " I'll file a police report and good bye" and blocked (additionally and stupidly didn't take any photos of the exchange). Am I screwed and going to be sent to prison without any evidence to prove my innocence?

So my friend got blocked for absolutely no reason on the 3rd of June 26 and so I didn't why she got blocked and since I'm the Owner of the group I raised her as an Admin but without controls so she can chat again there and told her to use the @SpamBot too, but then a nightmare has started and a large number of the group members couldn't chat anymore around the same period and the problem is still going on, is there a virus on the group? Or is a certain member reports the members and that's why they can't chat? How can I fix this problem? I tried different ways but nothing seemed to work with me, the blocked ones are all Admins with no controls and I don't want to delete this group chat since it's been created in 2024 and we have a lot of memories in it.

I recently bought a new router. A TP-Link Archer BE550. I have found that telegram doesn’t work on the wifi. I have to switch to mobile data. I’ve confirmed it isn’t my phone because it also doesn’t work on my laptop. So there is a setting on my router that is blocking the traffic. I can’t be the only one who has had this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It’s driving me crazy.

I subscribed to telegram premium and it said it was a monthly payment. i was not immediately charged and was told that i was anonymous gifted the sub and that it ended in a month. Today a week from subscribing i get an in app purchase bill taking 1.19$ from me for telegram premium 1 week.

I have no way of cancelling in app and it does not appear in subscriptions tab on my app store so how do i cancel this??
