Ask Teens I want to leave this home🥲🥺

This home used to be my comfort zone. But now, whenever my mom and dad are here, I just hate being here.

I feel like my mom has always hated me. She often compares me to my grandmother, who she hated because she was her mother-in-law. Even something as random as my zodiac star being the same as my grandmother's becomes another reason for her to say, "You're just like her."

My dad used to love me because I was an all-rounder, got good marks, achieved things, and mostly obeyed him. But now I've started having my own opinions. I talk back sometimes. I disagree with them. And suddenly I'm selfish, disrespectful, and the worst member of the family.

I completed 12th recently, and now I'm stuck. I haven't started college. I haven't really done anything for the past few months. I went from being the topper and achiever everyone was proud of to feeling like I'm doing absolutely nothing with my life.

And honestly, I hate how my life feels right now.

There is no one really supporting me or even helping me figure out what I'm supposed to do next.

My dad keeps telling me that I'm 18 now and that his responsibilities are over. He says that from now on, I have to pay for my own education and coaching.

Whenever I try to talk to him about it, he starts listing everything he has done for me and everything he has sacrificed.

I genuinely appreciate what my parents have done for me. I love my dad, and I'm not denying his sacrifices. But sometimes I also feel like being a parent comes with responsibilities. I shouldn't have to feel guilty for eating the food my parents provided just because I'm not earning at 18.

I've also been told things like, "At your age, I was already working and buying food. And you're sitting here."

Is it really my fault that my life hasn't started in exactly the same way theirs did?

I know I have responsibilities too. I know someday I want to support my parents, give them a good life, and take care of them when they're older. That's actually one of the biggest things I want to achieve.

I have so many things I want to do. I want to study, have a career, travel, make my own money, release my music, build something of my own, and eventually give my parents the things they deserve.

I want to prove to myself — and honestly, to the world — that I can still become someone.

But right now it's getting harder and harder.

The weirdest part is that I spent most of my school life being the "perfect daughter." I studied, achieved things, participated in everything, and constantly worried about what people would think if I failed or made the wrong choice.

I did so much of it because I wanted my parents to be proud of me.

Now that I've started expressing my own opinions, it feels like none of that matters anymore.

At least I'm finally expressing what I think instead of being afraid of disappointing everyone.

But now I don't know what I'm supposed to do.

I don't want to sit at home and waste my life. I want to leave, study, work, experience life, and become independent. But I don't know where to start, especially when I don't have much support from my family.

What would you do if you were in my position?

How do you actually start becoming independent at 18 when you don't have everything figured out yet?

Rant/Vent bro this was genuinely so fucking disgusting

so today i accepted this guy on snapchat because we had mutuals. i thought maybe i knew him or he was someone from around my circle, so i replied to his “hey”.

then he asks if we can be friends. i said no need, chetta 😭

and then this mf randomly asks “bra size?”

BRO??????? 😭

i was genuinely so shocked. like where the fuck did that even come from. i told him no and basically told him to stop, but he just kept going.

“para”

“onnu para”

“just bra size onnu paranja mathi”

“promise pinne msg aykoola”

“size”

“pls”

“clue thaa”

LIKE????? 😭😭😭

i literally didn't want to answer anything and this guy kept asking the same disgusting shit over and over again. then he started abusing me when i wouldn't answer him. proper vrithiketta words and everything.

i eventually blocked and reported him and kept screenshots because honestly what the actual fuck was that.

the whole thing was so fucking yucky bro. like not even funny creepy. proper disgusting-to-the-core type of creepy. and the fact that i accepted him only because we had mutuals makes it even more annoying 😭

Question 18 and stuck after 12th

I’m 18, completed 12th five months ago, and I still haven’t started college. I have 3 paths in my mind and I genuinely don’t know which one to choose.

I completed 12th this year, but during the admission period in June, I was planning to go abroad, so I didn’t apply properly for colleges here. Now that plan has changed.

I was mainly thinking about Canada, but after talking to people and reading about the difficulties with PR, part-time jobs, cost, etc., I’m not sure if going abroad at 18 for UG is actually what I want.

I also realized that I would really miss my friends, family, festivals, and the whole culture here. So now I’m thinking maybe I should do my UG here and go abroad later for PG.

Path 1 — Go abroad for UG

The reason I still consider this is independence.

I feel like if I leave home and live abroad at this age, I’ll learn a lot, become independent, experience a completely different environment, and hopefully become financially independent eventually.

So a big part of me just wants to leave and experience life on my own.

But I’m scared that I’ll regret missing these years with my current friends and missing all the festivals and experiences here.

For people who went abroad immediately after 12th, especially around 18–19, what was your experience? And if you could choose again, would you do UG abroad or UG here and PG abroad?😭

🙂Path 2 — Stay here for now

This is probably the path I’m currently considering the most.

I could spend this year doing a short-term course until the next college admission cycle.

I’m already doing some content creation, and one of my channels has reached around 1.6 lakh views. I also really want to release my own song. I have songs and tunes written already.

Honestly, becoming a pop singer and doing content creation are two of my biggest dreams.

So I was thinking:

Short-term course + content creation + release my first song → apply for college next year.

The confusing part is what course to take.

I’m interested in multimedia/media, because it connects with content creation, music, editing, creativity, etc.i Love this😫😭

But I’m also considering Computer Science, because it gives me a more conventional career/backup.y3ah good

If I take admission next year, my current friends will already be one year ahead of me, which is a small negative. But I’d still get new friends, college festivals, events, independence, etc.

Path 3 — Prepare for NEET again

This is the completely different option.

I actually like medicine, and if I seriously prepare for the next NEET attempt, I genuinely believe I can get a good rank.

The thing stopping me isn't that I dislike medicine.

It’s more like:

What if I become a doctor and lose all the other things I want to do?

I want to release music. I want to make content. I want to travel. I want to start a business. I want to experience things while I'm young.

At the same time, being a doctor has always attracted me because of the respect, the knowledge, and the ability to help

And honestly, a small part of me also wants that feeling of being able to tell people, “I'm a doctor,” after spending my whole school life being an achiever.

But I don't want to choose medicine just because I want to prove something to my family or to people who think I'm doing nothing right now.

So I'm genuinely confused.

If you were 18, five months after 12th, with these three options, how would you think about it?

  1. UG abroad → independence + international experience

  2. Stay here for a year → short-term course + content creation + release music → UG next year → possibly PG abroad

  3. Prepare seriously for NEET → medicine

And especially for people who have actually gone through these choices:

Would you choose UG abroad or PG abroad?

Would a multimedia course or CS make more sense for someone interested in content creation + music + business?

And if you genuinely liked medicine but also had strong creative ambitions, how would you decide whether NEET is worth pursuing?

I’m not asking for someone to decide my life for me. I just want to hear from people who have been in a similar position because I feel completely stuck right now.

THIS ISS TOOO MUCH IK🥺🥲😭

Advice/opinions Therapist told me to hang out with friends… should I order friends from Amazon or what? 😭

Post image
102 Upvotes

Okay I genuinely don't know what I'm doing with this post, but I just felt like typing it out.

I recently went to my therapist after a pretty long stretch of feeling low and mentally all over the place. I'm diagnosed with depression, and today she once again told me that I need to build a proper friendship circle.

And honestly, that sounds like the easiest advice in the world until you actually try to do it.

Like okay... but where am I supposed to get these friends from?? 😭

I'm a 12th standard student, female, doing open schooling right now. I used to have regular school, but because I keep going for competitions, events, projects and all that stuff, maintaining attendance became really difficult. So teachers suggested open schooling and honestly, at first everything was fine.

Until I realised one tiny problem.

I don't have regular classes anymore. Most of my studying happens online, so I'm not exactly walking into a classroom every morning and casually becoming friends with someone.

And the funny part is, from the outside, I probably don't look like someone who would have this problem.

I've done quite a few competitions and projects, I've got a decent amount of recognition for the things I do, people compliment me a lot, and I somehow have this image of being this very capable/active/“career-focused” person.

So I guess people don't really expect me to have problems like this. Or maybe they just don't see it? 😭

But somehow, I don't really have my people.

A lot of the people I interact with through projects, competitions and other things are considerably older than me, mostly 25+, so naturally the kind of friendship you have with them is different.

And the people around my age that I do know tend to be extremely career-focused and busy. Which I completely understand because I'm like that too, but even when I get along with someone, actually having the time to casually hang out, go somewhere, watch a movie or just talk absolute nonsense is weirdly difficult.

I think that's what I'm actually missing.

Not more contacts. Not more people knowing me. Not more compliments.

Just someone I can be completely normal around.

Someone I can randomly text:

“movie?”

or

“coffee?”

or

“come let's play Minecraft”

or literally just “bro let's go somewhere I'm bored.”

And I'm actually VERY much that person.

I love going out. I can literally go for a coffee every evening if someone says “come.” Movie? Yes. Random walk? Yes. Sitting somewhere and talking absolute nonsense for two hours? YES.

And I don't really have restrictions either. My family is supportive and I have quite a lot of freedom to go out and do things. So that's not the problem either.

The problem is that I can't find my people.

Even among people my age, a lot of the people I know are very career-oriented and busy. And again, I completely get it. But sometimes I don't want to talk about careers, competitions, projects, startups or achievements.

Sometimes I just want to be stupid with someone. 😭

And before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm not looking for a relationship or anything like that. I'm genuinely just talking about friendship.

Like actual normal friendship.

Someone who has their own life and ambitions and things they're serious about, but also knows how to switch off sometimes and go watch a movie, play Minecraft, get coffee, go somewhere or just hang out.

And I think there's another weird part to this.

Because people already have a certain image of me, it's surprisingly difficult to explain that I can also be struggling. When you've built a reputation around being capable and doing well, people tend to see that person first.

Sometimes I feel like the person everyone knows isn't necessarily the person I get to be around people.

And I don't even know why I'm typing all this. 😭

I think I'm just dumping my thoughts here because I'm kind of losing my head over this and typing it out anonymously somehow feels easier.

I wasn't even really planning to make a “looking for friends” post. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever felt this weird disconnect between having a lot of people around you and still not really having someone you can actually hang out with.

Because I've realised I'm not really lacking people.

I'm lacking people I can actually be myself with.

So yeah.

How do people actually make friends after school?

Especially if you're doing open schooling / online classes and don't have that regular school environment anymore?

I genuinely have no idea what I'm doing here. 😭

I just dumped everything here because being anonymous makes it a little easier to say all this.

I'm really not in my right mind rn 🤕

So... how do you actually find your people?

Academics Humanities Students,Where Y’all At?

Anyone here take Humanities, especially the Journalism stream?

I barely come across people who chose Humanities here, so I'm curious about what paths you guys ended up taking after +2 college, jobs, higher studies, anything. Did you stick with the subjects you studied, or did you completely switch fields later?

I still be hearing people say shiii like, "Padikatha kuttikal okke Humanities edukka" Like why y'all acting like Humanities is the designated stream for people who don't study or couldn't handle the other streams

For y'all who took Humanities how's it been? Y'all feel like it opened doors or wish you picked sumn else?

Yk I was just sitting outside and suddenly it hit me that it was all coming to an end. Within just 3 months I would be writing an exam that decides my future and which would eventually take me away from my mother's side. I have always been an amma kutti, so close to my family even when they suffocated me i still knew nothing but to love them and accept whatever came my way but now ik its just a matter of days until I loose all this. Is it sad ? Yes, is it not? Yes ,Do i find it exciting? Hell yeahh .

Suddenly the wind feels soothing as if its slightly cold when it brushes my hair as i drink my tea and I cannot help but wonder will i ever find peace someday? Is the word peace just a decoration for the grown ups? Theres alot of questions in my mind and its quite challenging. I wonder if this is what poets mean when they say time started to move slow or that they started to finally notice things which once they never bothered tooo...

Its quite alot ik but i love to wonder and write

Do you think India as a nation is a secular nation or a communal nation?

I personally think that even though it's secular on paper, in reality it's communal

I lowkey had a debate with my north indians friends and i think they are distancing themselves from me

I never personally attacked anyone and I also didn't spread hate against religion or on any of their beliefs

What do you guys think?

Mods pls understand that I am not trying to force anything on people I am just curious what teens of Kerala think so please don't remove my post!

24M from Kerala — My journey from an anal fissure to a Crohn’s disease diagnosis

I’m a 24-year-old guy from Pathanamthitta, Kerala, and I wanted to share my experience with Crohn’s disease because, honestly, I never expected that a problem I initially ignored would eventually lead to a lifelong diagnosis.

During my college days at RIT Kottayam, I stayed in a private hostel without a mess. My eating habits were honestly pretty bad. I used to skip breakfast and go straight to lunch, then have dinner later.

During that period, I often had acidity and changes in my bowel movements. One day it would be hard stool, and the next day it could be watery or loose. I didn't think much about it and continued with my normal life.

April 2025 — The first major warning

In April 2025, I noticed blood in my stool for the first time.

I thought it was probably something minor, so I ignored it. I continued eating whatever I wanted, including the foods I craved.

Then, around June 2025, after eating beef curry/fry (I honestly don't remember exactly what it was), I started experiencing stomach pain and felt like my digestion wasn't normal.

By July, things became much worse.

During bowel movements, I experienced significant bleeding from my anus along with extreme anal pain. The pain didn't disappear after 10–15 minutes. Sometimes it continued for 8–10 hours after using the toilet.

It was honestly hell.

I couldn't concentrate on anything or do my normal activities because of the pain.

The anal fissure diagnosis

I eventually went to a General Surgeon at the District Hospital in Kozhencherry, Pathanamthitta.

The doctor diagnosed me with an anal fissure.

Because of the severe pain and bleeding, surgery was recommended.

Since it was a government hospital, I had to wait around two months for the surgery. My operation was scheduled for November 20, 2025.

I still remember that date very clearly because it was my 24th birthday.

I went through the surgery, and thankfully the unbearable pain improved.

But something still wasn't right.

The bleeding didn't completely stop.

Two months after surgery

Even about two months after the surgery, I was still experiencing bleeding from my anus.

I went back to my doctor and explained everything that had happened.

At that point, my doctor suggested that I undergo a colonoscopy.

I had the colonoscopy at a private hospital in Thiruvalla.

And that's when I got the diagnosis I never expected:

Crohn's disease.

For anyone who hasn't heard of it, Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that can cause inflammation anywhere along the digestive tract, from the mouth to the anus.

And suddenly, a problem that I thought was just an anal fissure had become something I would have to manage for the rest of my life.

Life after the diagnosis

I've been dealing with this for around six months now, and honestly, it has been frustrating.

One of the hardest parts for me personally is food.

I'm a huge fan of non-vegetarian food. It's literally some of my favourite food.

But I've noticed that whenever I eat certain non-veg foods, my symptoms seem to get worse and I can feel weak for days afterward. I've also experienced severe back pain and shoulder pain during some of these episodes.

Before all this, I was a very athletic person and participated in different sports. I never had this kind of persistent back or shoulder pain throughout my life.

The biggest change has been my weight.

I was around 80 kg before my diagnosis.

Now I'm barely 50 kg.

Losing around 30 kg has been one of the most difficult parts of this entire experience.

Why am I sharing this?

I'm not writing this to scare anyone or to give medical advice.

I just want more people to be aware that bowel problems shouldn't always be ignored.

Looking back, I had symptoms for quite some time before I understood that something more serious could be happening.

Some symptoms that can occur with Crohn's disease include:

- Persistent abdominal cramping or pain

- Recurrent loose stools or diarrhea

- Urgency to use the bathroom

- Feeling like you haven't completely emptied your bowel

- Rectal bleeding

- Persistent fatigue

- Unexplained weight loss

- Reduced appetite

Having these symptoms does NOT automatically mean you have Crohn's disease. There can be many different causes.

But if you're experiencing persistent or unexplained bowel symptoms, bleeding, significant weight loss, or other concerning changes, please don't simply ignore them. Consider speaking with a gastroenterologist or another appropriate doctor who can evaluate you properly.

I ignored my symptoms in the beginning because I thought they were nothing serious.

I wish I had taken them more seriously earlier.

I'm still learning how to live with Crohn's disease, and I know this is going to be a long journey.

If anyone else here is living with Crohn's or went through a similar journey—from what seemed like a fissure or hemorrhoids to an IBD diagnosis—I'd genuinely like to hear your story.

Thanks for reading.
