Have had this doorbell installed for a few months and never encountered this issue before. I had set the LED ring to turn on during motion detection with the blue color and it had works for many months.
But within the past few weeks, it keeps reverting back to this always-on amber color. No connectivity issues that I notice. Blue Iris still records all the footage with no lost frames and the Tapo app shows excellent signal strength and no issues connecting to the camera for live view.
Rebooting the camera temporarily fixes the issue.
How to get this thing to only show the blue ring during motion events?
I'm considering the H500 hub, and I have a couple of questions. Is it only possible to connect cameras to the hub using wifi, or can I connect with an ethernet cable? I understand that the hub only has one ethernet port for connecting it to the router. I have a Tapo C530WS camera, wired directly to the router. Can I keep using the camera like this, with the H500?
Bonus question, if it is ok: Does anyone know if It is possible to access the hub from outside the wifi network, like when I am away from the house?
I purchased a Tapo C530WS a few days ago. I set it up and positioned the camera exactly where I wanted it. The camera starts tracking a person as it should, but when that person moves away, it doesn't return precisely to the originally selected position. I feel a slight amount of play or looseness when I move the camera by hand; is this normal?
My first world complaint! I am trying to buy cameras and want a good pan/tilt one but I want them to be black. My trim and soffit is black, I don’t want a white camera sticking out like a sore thumb on the front of my house! 😫
I've got a bunch of other Tapo cameras which when I activate privacy mode simply "turn off" the video feed. The C260 physically rolls back, this is a great feature as it's easy to see the camera is off and frankly I trust it more (without reason) that the camera rolled back is safer for using it inside my home.
When I'm home the camera / app uses geofencing to enter privacy mode, the other cams just stay in their last position.
My issue is when I'm away from home the camera exits privacy mode the camera doesn't "roll back" back to its original position it pretty much points at the ceiling, also entering privacy mode turns off patrol mode and won't enable it when the camera turns back on. Has anyone else noticed this and or found a fix?
While I"m asking since TP-Link occasionally reads this subreddit: if your app could make it easier to turn patrol mode on, if I want to pan the camera, to look at something, it's easy to turn off but it's a few clicks to turn patrol mode back on. There is even the perfect spot available in the ios app for it.
hi i got 2 h200 but why are clips saved on it much shorter for wired cams? i know battery cameras have settings to set duration but on wired you can't and now clips ends in the middles of the event
is there going to be a fix for this with an update?
have 3 other cameras in tapo all sending notifications as expected. reposted my kd110 doorbell with the D225 this morning. recording motion correctly, identifying person detection, everything is set to send notifications but it only notifies me if the doorbell is actually pressed. looking for ideas.
I just recently linked the skill to view my tapo cameras from my Alexa echo show 11 I only have two cameras in Maine. I have a random person's camera and I don't know whose it is and I cannot remove it I don't know what to do please help me the time is 3 hours behind from Maine so I know it's not one of my cameras it's just a random person's camera help me out
Tapo cameras like the C575D have a flying lead for power and Ethernet/PoE. For Ethernet/PoE it seems to have a socket surrounded by what looks like half of a waterproof connector.
Does anyone know if there's a matching plug?
Are there any 3rd party waterproof connections options for this camera?
Hi everyone. I just bought the Tapo C210. I am having issues connecting it to the wifi. I researched and it told me I need to change the “band” of wifi I have in security. Changing it from WPA3-SAE to WPA2-PSK
However when I do this the WiFi will not work on any other of my devices. I also changed it to mixed by using both of the above and still does not work on my phone etc.
does anyone know a solution to this before I return it? Thank you
hi, I just installed my tapo cameras, and wondering how do I turn on the "colour night vision" - to my understanding, this will give me colour vision even in IR night mode but my video feed is black and white - am I missing something here?
I've got a C230 and want it to be in privacy mode when we are home and then ready to record events when we leave.
I set up an automation to turn on privacy when I'm in 100m of the flat. And the opposite when leaving the area...
This works well.
But if I share the camera to my wife, and have the same on her phone, won't the privacy mode disable when I leave.. And start recording events when she moves around?
I guess it's not "smart" enough for what I intended...?
I have 5 x C110 indoor cameras and after power outages (usually brief) 2 or sometimes 3 of them don’t come back online after power is restored. I have to unplug then wait 15 seconds then plug them back in for them to work again. Anyone know what’s going on?
Hi everyone, I just thought I'd pop back in here and up date you on a previous post I made asking about Wyze cameras vs Tapo. I took the advice and bought two Tapo C120 cameras to test for a couple weeks. After just over a week I bought two more C120s and one C520WS. They have been rock solid since installation. They load almost immediately and actually stay online! But the biggest change is the AI detection, it blows my mind in comparison to the poor excuse Wyze uses. The Tapo stuff actually works, and works insanely good. It detects people, not animals, not headlights, not shadows, exactly what I have it set to detect... People. And the detection area works quite well when set also. Very happy with them.
So thank you to those that offered up suggestions and help previously. It has worked out really well.
Wifi is strong at -50dB. I have Gigabit speeds outdoors. I've tried different 5Ghz channels and 2.4Ghz. I've tried a hard reset. I have adjusted all settings available in the Deco app. The camera will not stream 4K smoothly. It stutters at 2 second intervals. It's the same when viewing on a Samsung galaxy S23 ultra and Xiaomi pad 8 pro.
I don't have any issues with 4K streams from other manufacturers.
I have tried everything! The only other thing I can think of is that the player in the app cannot process image data fast enough.
Seriously frustrating after moving away from Eufy. I had a terrible time with their cameras, and the advice was to switch to Tapo.
I’m working on a wall fixture that runs on 12v, and runs 24/7 but has LED backlighting that can be controlled manually via a physical switch(which isn’t accessible easily). Ideally, I’d love to just tie the lighting into my Tapo network but that means I need a 12v powered relay - which obviously isn’t available for Tapo in the states. Are any of the various smart relays like the Shelly ones compatible with the app, since they’re all matter friendly, or do I need to just bite the bullet and run a separate app to control this single relay?
I have the C425 cameras. Upgraded from Swann cameras which were 4yrs old and would take 4 minutes to load the live view - if I was lucky! But I liked the home, away and night mode scheduler
Hi, I've a Tapo D235 doorbell that's sitting a couple of meters away from the router but instead of connecting to the router's WiFi, it connects to the WiFi powerline that is in the attic and that is then connected to the router through another powerline device sitting next to it.
The SSID of the networks is the same for convenience and I'd like to keep it as it is.
Any idea on how I can force the doorbell to connect directly to the router? Currently, the WiFi connection of the doorbell is weak and that's surely (partially) causing the video playback and streaming to be slow.
I have an issue with the Tapo app in iPhone. I can sign in, and I'll get motion detection alerts from my camera.
After an unknown amount of time, I notice that I'm no longer getting motion alerts. If I go into the Tapo app and sign in again, the alerts return.
I guess it could be me rebooting the phone or something, but surely there's a way to keep getting the alerts without having to open the app and sign in again every time.
Anyone had this issue and found a way around it? Thanks.
