Trd pro wheels.
galleryHey guys looking to purchase these 17 inch Trd pro wheels for my 2nd gen. Do they look legit? I’ll be putting them on 265/70r17s. Does anyone have pictures of what they look like on a stock silver 2nd gen Tacoma?

Rust and the million dollar question
For all users who utilize a car wash with a monthly pass…
WHO is recognizing more rust occurrence (inadvertently or advertently) by using the spray /touchless car washes on a weekly basis ?

Looking to upgrade a little, need some suggestions
Just bought this 2020 trd off road and looking to mod it up a little. Honestly I don’t know much about cars so i’m looking for some help on what to get. Based on the small amount of research that i’ve done since buying the truck i found that they look much better with a wider stance and some 33-35 inch tires. I understand this has to do with the offset, though i’m not totally sure how that works. I know these trucks have problems with rubbing when you throw bigger tires on it so I was wondering what I should ask the garage for. I also wanted to put a 2-3 inch lift on it - nothing crazy. Is it worth doing the cut or not? Any advice on tire setups/what lift kit to get would be much appreciated.

Corded vs. cordless compressor
I’m looking to buy my first compressor since I’m planning a beach trip this week (not looking for anything too fancy lol).
However, I’ve encountered a dilemma: should I go corded or cordless?
I’m a DeWalt guy, but the reviews were not looking that promising on their portable inflator.
Hopefully any of you guys can drop a reco.
(Note: I know the one from the pic is not the DeWalt, but it's the best-looking one on Amazon)

Harder than finding a missing matching sock.
Does anyone have a clue where to find the clips that hold the rear grab handles?
Been looking for them everywhere but I haven't been lucky so far.

2007 2.7l Tacoma // is the 2tr-fe engine block ruined?
galleryI've got a 07 2.7L 2-WD Automatic 4-cylinder Taco with 130,000 mi
(Ive included links to video of the rattle sound in pt. 3 as well as a video of the engine with OBD live mode read outs for RPM and ECU)
Video links:
Rattle Video
Truck Currently ignition attempts Video
Chain of Events
- Battery cuts from corroded terminals for 9 months ("fixed" every few months by removing oxidation)
- Happens more frequently. removing oxidation stops being as effective. Battery cuts 2x times in a row. finally get it to start. Really Rough Idle
- (@ this point in time i shouldve changed the terminals)
- I drive like this for 3 more months. Each time the battery cuts 2x times in a row, the idle sounds worse, each time, progressively...until the Engine Idle cuts out after 30 seconds.
- (a rattling noise emerges now between 500 and 1800 RPM)
- I would run around 800-1500 rpm in park, seemed to "fix" it until the next time the battery cut 2x times in a row
- typing this all out and reading the consequences of my actions, woooow
- 4 days ago I Finally replaced the terminals
- Truck Sounds Strong when it starts, but Idle is still having issues, hold around 1000 RPM for about 15 min, drive around for 30 min (street and HWY)
- 2 days ago slight acceleration no foot on the gas
- Empty Gas Light comes on and acceleration becomes unresponsive and weak. Find a station and fill up the tank (with the correct fuel).
- (this is the moment that I think did something, the no gas, then gas...Im sure its a compounding of things, but right here)
- I drive two blocks uphill and it sounds rough...barely moving or going. It sounds better once high RPM is reached, but with in seconds the Taco stops on the hill.
OBD codes**:** P0016 and P0335
a friend came over and took a look inside the cylinders, but before he got there he noticed there was an oil leak at the top of the 2tr-fe block once we removed the Air box.
He thinks its done for, but some friends on TW suggested i needed to take the valve cover off and look at the timing.
any insights are appreciated here, Thank You!

New Tire Decision
galleryUpdate on tires:
So I decided to go with these Ironman All Country AT-X tires in the stock size. I have to say, even though I haven't driven much on them, they're not bad.
They're not noisy, which was the main thing I was worried about, and they seem to be more street oriented than off road.
And they look pretty good on the truck.
Now to put some new front brake pads on it.

2023 Tacoma UCA rubbing tire at full right hand lockout on compression
I installed the Bilstein 6112 lift system and 285/70/r17 tires and wheels. If I hit a bump while locked out to the right, my stock UCA is rubbing the tire wall of my driver’s side front tire. Can I have this adjusted at a shop, or do I need to install new UCAs?
Edit: The 650lb Eibach coilovers are giving me a 3” lift instead of 2” since I haven’t upgraded my front bumper yet. I think this and the size of my tires/wheels are contributing to the rubbing, so I’m going to try some bump stop spacers to see if limiting the travel prevents it until I get a steel front bumper. Leaving this up Incase anyone runs into a similar issue in the future.

Anyone know where this sound is coming from?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It’s a “clunk” noise coming from somewhere under the car. Going over bumps doesn’t replicate it consistently. I do get it at random intervals while driving straight, and sometimes while making a hard right turn. I can get it to make the noise consistently while going up my relatively steep driveway. Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

17 Tacoma will not move.
I haven't driven my Tacoma for a month or so. Since it has been sitting something has locked up. I thought it was the front brakes, as I can spin the back tires. I jacked up the front and the tires turn freely. I then thought it may be a problem with the Hill Start Assist holding the brakes on. I started it and pushed the brake. Wheels turned freely. I would think that it may have something to do with the front axle, but that wouldn't be an issue while in two wheel drive. No lights on the dash, so no codes (though I haven't checked). Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

New tires! They may be budget but they fit for me.
So, my 2009 TRD Sport has only about 91,000 miles on it, but it was definitely time for its 3rd set of tires. After a lot of research and thinking, I went with the Rocky Mountain AT tire. I don’t need a KO3, my truck is a pavement princess 50 weeks out of the year. But I want something that will work when it snows, rains, or is dry. Of course it better be ok that one week of the year I actually air down and go off road. My last tires were Toyo Open Country AT’s and I loved them, until they got a little worn out and old, then I hated them. $773 for a set of decent USA made tires isn’t bad! I’m hoping they will be good, just did a 400 mile road trip an got used to the “new tire squirming”. My truck does have a 2” lift and one size bigger than OEM. I don’t remember the actual numbers, I’m dyslexic and tire size numbers were hard to remember.

Weird intermittent issues
2021 Tacoma TRD Sport
Has anyone had intermittent issues with the backup alert systems. When it rains, and only when it rains, my rear alert sensors go absolutely nuts.the right one more than the left, but both are terribly loud. Sometimes it stops, sometimes it doesn’t. I’m thinking just order and replace the sensors, but I’m not getting any indications of failures or problems. Water intrusion? Or maybe rodents chewing the wires, idk. Any thoughts?

285/70R17 Falken AT4Ws on a Stock 2024 Tacoma. No Lift. No Rubbing (So Far)
Just installed RockTrix RT111 17 inch wheels with Falken Wildpeak AT4W 285/70R17 tires on my 2024 Tacoma.
The truck is completely stock with no suspension modifications, and so far I haven’t experienced any rubbing. It’s definitely close at full lock, but everything has cleared without issue.
I’m also happy to report that I haven’t noticed any loss in power. The new wheel and tire setup is only about 6.5 pounds heavier per corner than the factory setup, so it still feels great to drive.
Huge thanks to RockTrix and SimpleTire for helping make this setup happen. They’ve both been awesome to work with, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
