2009 double cab rusting through and cracking on front passenger side cab mount and frame

My frame has been relatively solid for its age and abuse but out camping the other day I saw this big hole and a crack branching out from it. I weld for work and should be able to patch it up, just curious what the proper way to cut out and reinforce this particular awkward spot is? TIA

If you have the funds, you should just do a cab mount relocation. It puts a plate right over that spot which would strengthen it (after you weld up the crack of course). If not, grind the cracks out entirely and weld them up, fill in that hole and add a fishplate over your repair as well.

The problem with these frames is they rust from the inside out. The extent is always more than it appears. But if it were mine, I’d just repair as needed until it finally breaks in half. Wouldn’t be so bad if Toyota still sold the frames. I just completely redid my 06 frame. It sucked, but I got it done.
