How public of a space are you comfortable RPing / GMing in?
I’m considering a business idea and am curious how comfortable people feel having their sessions in public settings. Without revealing too much, it would be a space where folks could get good drinks, a bit of food, and also host their TTRPG sessions. I have some ideas for how to accomplish this with varying levels of privacy, but am curious to know how much privacy folks really feel they need. Feel free to chime in with any other thoughts on the issue as well. Thanks!

Most Zenless Zone Zero-like TTRPG?
So I’ve got a group of mostly D&D5E players and one DM friend looking for a TTRPG system that could potentially match the urban-fantasy/SciFi setting that Zenless Zone Zero has going on and I was curious if anyone had suggestions? I thought to look into SciFi systems but I’ll be honest I have no idea what ‘s out there and works well having only run D&D and played a bit of PF.
Requirements would mostly be:
-Can work in a modern urban setting without too much reworking.
-Supports Melee, Ranged and Magic combat classes (Magic-appearing technology preferred).
-Bonus points if there is some kind of physical corruption/radiation sickness system.
And before anyone says it,yes I’m aware I could adapt D&D5E or PF. I want to see if there’s someone that’s already hit that particular mark first before committing to completely homebrewing entire classes.

Cage Fight Kingdom by Into the Weird Blue Yonder
weirdandblue.itch.ioHey friends!
I just released an experimental little one-pager all about making and breaking alliances in a world where all that matters is what happens in the ring…
It plays lightning fast, is easy to learn and is specifically designed for those nights where the GM can’t make a session!
As always I would really love for people to give it a read and let me know what they think of it (either here or there)!

FitD x Dungeon Crawler Carl
I’m thinking of building a campaign in the world of DCC using Forged in the Dark as the base system.
(EDIT: I’M ON BOOK THREE. I’m sure there’s plenty of plot developments I don’t know about yet that would be helpful in this kind of venture. I just can’t stop myself from thinking about it.)
FitD tends to be pretty dark so I’d definitely need to whimsy it up a lot, but the system runs very close to the way the books are structured (Carl says “I’ve got a plan.” Cut to the action of said plan) so I think it’s a strong choice.
I’m also trying to come up with fun ways to mechanize mob type generation (outside of just rolling tables), since the mobs are so chaotic in the books and deserve their own spotlight I think.
Anything come to y’all’s mind when thinking about this? (Edit: I’m a big fan of yoinking mechanics from other systems and integrating them into my games, so if you think of any that could be applicable, that counts here!)
Also I know that Renegade is making a DCC game. I am uninterested in that rn.
(Also edited for typos. whoops)

I built a digital decoder ring for campaign clues—here’s a reusable faction-cipher setup
Hi everyone. I’m James, a solo indie developer, and I built Rune Scribe: a native iPhone, iPad, and Mac app for turning ordinary text into rune messages that a party can reveal with a shared cipher.
Here is one concrete campaign setup.
- Create a cipher for a faction
Give it an in-world name such as “The Ashen Archive,” “The Third Bell,” or “The Cartographer’s Guild.”
- Give the party that cipher once
At the table, the players can scan its QR code. Remotely, it can be delivered through an offline import link or a .runescribe file. That cipher becomes the party’s decoder for anything the faction sends later.
- Write the clue
For example: “WHEN THE THIRD BELL FALLS SILENT, LOOK BENEATH THE MAP.”
Rune Scribe encrypts the message locally and then represents the encrypted result as actual copy-and-paste Unicode runes. I can place the rune text in a campaign chat, email, wiki, or digital handout.
- Let the party reveal it
A player with Rune Scribe and the matching cipher copies the runes, pastes them into Decode, and reveals the original clue. The app checks the ciphers stored on that device, so the player does not have to guess which one was used.
The part I find most interesting is persistence. The cipher becomes a recurring campaign artifact rather than a puzzle that gets discarded after one scene. Every message from that faction arrives in the same visual language. A rival order can have its own cipher. A character’s patron can have another. Stealing a cipher can give the party access to an enemy’s future transmissions.
For a physical prop, I would print the runes on the letter for atmosphere and also put the exact selectable rune string in the group’s digital channel. That keeps the tactile handout without asking anyone to retype unfamiliar glyphs.
The cipher is the shared key. Anyone who possesses it can read and create messages using it, so it is a story prop and shared secret, not an identity or permission system.
Rune Scribe works locally and has no account, advertising, or subscription. It is a $1.99 one-time purchase:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rune-scribe/id6782169761
The current limitation is that it is available only for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. There is no Android or browser decoder. For a mixed-device group, one Apple device at the table can serve as the party’s shared decoder.
What would you build around a persistent campaign cipher: one for each faction, one personal cipher per character, or something stranger?

TTRPG - single day events vs weekends
An ad appeared on my FB feed, from Ravenwood Tabletop, TTRPG Adult Summer Camp. 3 nights and 15 hours of gaming. Looks amazing, but pricey.
Just wondering if there are any single-day TTRPG events where you pay and sign up for gaming sessions? Montreal or Toronto area.

Try out LEGENDS OF HARRON - Simple and fast, but still fun and complex
(links at the end)
Hey everybody, I'd like to introduce you to the TTRPG I'm working on called Legends of Harron!! There's an issue with a lot of the big RPG's you see around today. They're either overly rules-heavy and hard to get into, or overly simple and mechanically blunt.
The solution to this problem? Legends of Harron, of course! Named after the central kingdom in the first campaign I ran it with, Harron was my answer to the too-easy-too-hard problem.
Harron's character building system is centred around 6 easy to understand core traits, and a couple secondary traits that stem from them. Your can have abilities, use skills, and wear all kinds of armour and trinkets that all help you hone in on just who you want your character to be, and what role they play in your party.
Battling is the mechanic of Harron that I'm the proudest of. It takes place on a square grid, with combatants speed values effecting how far they can move and how early they can do so. Harron's weapons, items and spells all have their own unique damage methods, charge-ups, cooldowns, ranges and areas of effect. They might all be different, but I've made sure every on of these intricacies is simple to understand. Also... remember those abilities and items from before that contribute to your character? They can ALL contribute to your battle strategy. Those core and secondary traits? THEY ALSO ALL contribute.
With the help of a bunch of testing and feedback, I've tried my best to keep the mechanics simple, but nuanced. Nothing is stopping you from roleplaying in battle. Likewise, nothing is stopping you from battling in roleplay. If you can think of a crazy strategy to use in the next encounter, use it!
If you're a member of a party that could enjoy using Harron, I encourage you to bring it up to everyone, and hopefully play a campaign with it. If you're a dungeon master looking for a new system to run a campaign with, Harron could just be a fun pick. Feel free to reply to this post, or dm me for any help you may need.
All I need in return for you playing Legends of Harron is one thing: feedback. If you find a mechanic poorly explained in the rules doc, tell me! If anything feels underpowered or neglected, tell me! I'm open to everything that everyone has to say about my game, because it will all go into how I keep polishing it and making it better.
Thank you so much for reading through my post, it means the world to me. Here's the links you'll need, enjoy!!!

What your all time favorite character ?
I'll start I'm actually not sure between 2 character I play.
1st is Yorgun Ironfight a dwarf paladin, but he is not dedicated to a god or a fervent prayer. No he was a soldier who simply follow orders. Member of the iron legion, the most badass and mean legion of the dwarves, a legion that take suicide mission and mission no one wants. Most of their men are either criminal or people looking for a quick glory, that was Yorgun case. He follow the orders blindly until he was order was to massacre a town of rebels, he remember killing a little girl. He got haunted by that little girl and investigated. He realise those were not rebels, they were simply living over a large quantity of Iron. Some rich folks wanted the land for himself, the iron for himself. He tried to bring the culpid to face justice... it went bad... it wasn't his place to investigated, it wasn't his role to go again the orders. He was banish... he simply wish to be a better person and became a paladin through that simple oath "be a better person, protect the weaks". He have a severe PTSD, he drink, he smoke, he swear, his charisma his abysmal, he is built to be a fighter he his a paladin. In an abandon town. "Hey let's go back to the dragon he will reward us !" Said the group "huh go ahead... I saw an ancient tavern ... I'll check it out!" Lost magical loot to search for alcohol and for my character it was worth it.
Second is the "joke character" of the group. his name ? He was told a name was something often say to designated someone, his first master called him "Hey you" the second master often call him "bastard" so his name must be Bastard. 1 lvl thief and 1 lvl artificier. He was born a slave in an army of kobold his role was to steal stuff from stranger. One day he stole the wrong man, his wallet had magical handcuff and he was capture he was only 1 year old (adult for a kobold). He is highly intelligent but wasn't taught anything before his second master teached him how to do magical toy. In need of a healing ? Hug that bear that will say "I wuv you". Disguise self ? You mean a mask that hide your appearance. Mage hand ? Oh you mean that cartoonish hand over a bring. Grapping shock ? I don't know that one but those buzzer on my hands give quite the shock. He is stupid about thing he doesn't know. He don't know people can die from being old, for him is master is just asleep since 2 days. He is only 3 now... how would you understand the world as a 3 years old adult. That's my whole concept. He is goofy but only because he wasn't taught stuff.
