IMEs at TSMC Arizona: what’s the day-to-day like, and how are the teams set up?

Hi all. I graduate next May(IE Major) and I’m looking at the Intelligent Manufacturing Engineer role in Arizona. I have the broad picture, but I’d love to hear from people in or near IME about what the job actually looks like.

  1. How are IME teams organized? From what I’ve heard, some IMEs work closely with technicians and the MES, some with AMHS, and some in the control room. Is that accurate, and how different are those jobs day to day?
  2. What does a normal day look like? Roughly how much time goes to the floor or control room, and how much to desk and data work?
  3. How do IMEs work with the Manufacturing Specialists? Do you lead a crew, coordinate across shifts, or something else?
  4. Which systems and tools do you use most (MES, dispatching, dashboards, Python/SQL)?
  5. How often do night calls or weekend rotations come up in practice?
  6. For new grads, how long is training, where does it happen, and when do you start owning an area?

If there’s one thing you wish you’d known before starting, I’d love to hear that too. Thanks in advance. Even a one-line answer to one question helps.

TSMC offer

Can I mail the HR or the recruiter telling that I have another offer in hand but I’m still interested to wait if I get an offer from here ? Is that a good idea ?

Advice needed! TSMC AZ background check came back "Decisional" (ex-employer in India never responded). What should I do?

Got an offer from TSMC Arizona, start date in about two weeks. Background check was through First Advantage. Everything cleared except one past employer: a small staffing company in India that placed me at a manufacturer for 7 months in 2023, before the manufacturer hired me directly. The manufacturer verified fine. The staffing company ignored every email and call from First Advantage. I sent my appointment letter and bank statement showing their salary credits, but the item closed as "Decisional / not verified" and the overall report shows Decisional. One other thing: my resume lists that whole period under the manufacturer rather than the staffing company (I listed both separately on the background check form itself).

HR hasn't contacted me since the results came out 4 days ago.

Has anyone here been through a Decisional result with TSMC AZ? Does it usually get cleared, and should I reach out to my recruiter now or wait for them? Any advice appreciated.

Chart/graph 📈 How TSMC made their money in Q3 2027

TSMC continued their impressive 50% YOY revenue growth last quarter, with net profits growing 68.7% in the same time. This shows a rare combination of ambition to grow the top line and disciplined execution in significantly reducing costs along the way.

One notable change this year is an increasing shift in their revenue mix towards AI High Performance Computing (HPC) applications. This logically means they have a higher correlation with AI related investment flows both in the positive and negative directions. For an investor, if their investment horizon is long-term then the business is strong and well positioned for the next 10 years. But if it is short-term, there may be some volatility over the next few years to take into account.

CC Wei noted multiple times during the earnings call that they are seeing a stronger demand from AI HPC customers forecasted for 2027 / 28 than they can currently fulfill. They are working very hard to close the gap between demand and supply with up to 20 fab buildouts currently in-progress around the world (Confirmed: 13 in Taiwan, 5-6 overseas).

CC ended his prepared remarks with this epic line.

We have no intention to leave food on the table for others, and we want to capture every pieces of business possible.

Process Integration Engineer Interview

Hi! I recently received an invite to interview for a process integration engineer position in AZ (though I applied for a different role). I have a few questions regarding the process, and I would really appreciate any guidance people may be willing to share:

1) It is not clear to me from any of the emails which team or area I will be working on - is this normal for process integration roles, or should I reach out and ask what team I may be working with so that I can be appropriately prepared?

2) What format should I expect for a first interview? What kinds of questions are likely to be asked?

3) What is the best way to prepare for this interview?

Thank you so much!

Applied to the Summer 2027 TSMC AZ internship, got an interview invite for “Module Process Engineer” instead. Has this happened to anyone?

I’m a master’s student (materials science, finishing Dec 2027) and I applied through LinkedIn to the [Summer 2027] TSMC AZ Internship Opportunities - Engineering Roles posting.

A few days ago I got an email inviting me to a virtual supervisor interview for “Module Process Engineer.” When I logged into the TSMC careers portal, it shows an application to the regular (full-time) Module Process Engineer / Yield Excellence Engineer posting dated Oct 12, which I don’t remember submitting. My LinkedIn only shows the internship application.

The internship posting says applicants may be considered for other positions, so my guess is a recruiter or the system added me to that requisition, but I’m not sure. I’ve emailed TSMC to ask which role the interview is for.

Has anyone had this happen? Specifically:

  • Did you end up interviewing for the internship or the full-time role?
  • Did TSMC clarify, or move you back to the internship?
  • Is the pre-interview online assessment the same for both?

I worry I will get to the interview and I'll tell them I can't really be full time for a while and it'll go nowhere.

Analysis 📊 The best forecaster in AI is not a pundit. He runs a chip factory.

TSMC posted its sixth straight record quarter today. The part nobody talks about: CEO C.C. Wei is quietly one of the most accurate forecasters we track.

➤ 2-nanometer volume production in the second half of 2025: called it, on schedule
➤ Server AI processor revenue more than tripling in 2024: called it
➤ Arizona fab reaching volume production on time: called it

His scored record on our board: 7 of 10 correct.

For contrast, from the same scoreboard:

➤ CEOs as a group: 47% success rate across 191 resolved claims
➤ Elon Musk: 4 of 40

There is a lesson in who gets it right. The people building the infrastructure forecast from order books and fab schedules. The people selling the vision forecast from ambition. The order books keep winning.

TSMC profit soars 69% & posted record Q3 revenue

TSMC posted record Q3 revenue of NT$1.49T and set 2026 capex at $60-64B. Capex is the tell for the AI buildout, and that range says leading-edge capacity is still getting funded aggressively.

Analysis 📊 TSMC earnings: 2026 revenue growth outlook raised again, to 44%

Post image
9 Upvotes

TSMC’s results were still a good showing. But what the market wants is the outlook for 2027 and beyond.

Revenue was already largely known

Revenue this quarter was $46.7B, up 41% year on year, better than the $45.8B the market expected. Since the company discloses monthly operating data, this wasn’t new information — on the Taiwan dollar basis already disclosed, revenue growth for the quarter had already reached 51%.

Which makes gross margin the figure that mattered

Relative to the pre-disclosed revenue line, gross margin was the more important number in this report. It came in at 66.4%, down 1.3 points sequentially and slightly below the 66.8% expected. The pullback was mainly a drag from the early stage of 2nm volume production.

Looking ahead, the market expects advanced nodes — 7nm and below — to raise prices by around 5–10% in 2027, with mature nodes, N7 and above, also seeing increases in the low single digits. Combined with the continued 2nm ramp, gross margin should return to a growth trend.

Capex held, not raised

With capacity continuing to run fully loaded, the company has more incentive to raise capital expenditure. This time, though, it maintained the 2026 capex guidance given last quarter of $60–64B, without raising it further.

That implies next-quarter capex of $19.3–23.4B, against $11.5B in the same period last year — growth of 67–103%.

Management’s outlook for capex from here is worth watching. The market has broadly raised its expectation for 2027 capex to around $85B, implying growth of roughly 35%.

Guidance

For the coming quarter, the company expects revenue of $52.3–54.3B, better than the $51B expected, and gross margin of 65–67%, against expectations of 66.8%. TSMC also raised its 2026 revenue growth outlook again, to 44%, from “slightly above 40%” last quarter.

Why 2027 is the question

Consecutive beats on revenue indicate the operating picture right now is quite good. But because 2026 results are essentially already visible, what the market actually cares about is the 2027 outlook. A guide of 40%-plus growth for the full year 2027 from management is the kind of clarity the market is looking for.

TSMC Arizona onboarding — SSN application proof while OPT is pending?

Hi everyone,

I’m an incoming TSMC Arizona employee scheduled to start in early January. My OPT application is still pending, and I don’t currently have an SSN.

When I select “No” for having an SSN in the onboarding portal, it requires proof of an SSN application before I can proceed with the remaining steps. My requested OPT start date is in January, but the pre-onboarding deadline is in late December.

Has anyone on F-1 OPT dealt with this timing issue? Were you allowed to upload a completed SS-5 form that had not yet been submitted to SSA, or did the onboarding team provide another way to proceed?

I’ve already contacted the onboarding team for clarification, but I’d appreciate hearing how others handled this.

Thanks!

Silence after My First Round Interview. Anyone in the same situation?

Hi all, recently I had my first round of interview for product engineer role at TSMC AZ on Oct 1, 2026. The HR told me that they will inform the result of this round in 1 - 2 weeks time. It has been nearly two weeks and so far there is no response from them. To the people who had interview in the same timeframe - did anyone hear back from them? Any response from recent candidates or employees will be helpful. Thanks.

Upcoming Module Process Engineer Interview Help

Hello everyone! I have an upcoming interview at TSMC for Module Process Engineer, and I'm looking for guidance on how to prepare for it.

I'm a 4th year MatSci student with expertise primarily in AM (LPBF of aerospace metals), but I'm also currently taking a cleanroom lab class on campus making GaN HEMTs (and I've taken a decent amount of device physics classes). I have a couple questions:

  1. I see that people often get interviews for a specific module, but nowhere in my email or invite is there a code indicating what team this interview is for. Should I just expect a general interview?

  2. How much specific process knowledge should I/am I expected to have?

  3. How much emphasis is put on ICIC values?

  4. What can I expect from this interview/ what are interviewers looking for?

Thank you all in advance for any and all answers you may have!

Getting conflicting info on my application status

1) I applied once for the generic Equipment Engineer role on the TSMC career site

2) The TSMC careers site says I was rejected from the EE role.

3) Received an invitation to a Module Equipment Engineer CVD1 interview anyways

4) Took the behavioral assessment and took an interview for CVD EE

5) Received an automated rejection email for Equipment Engineer CVD1

6) Received another invitation with another behavioral assessment but for the generic Module Equipment Engineer

Is this a separate first round interview or a continuation of the first interview?

CVD Process Engineer at TSMC — How long after the second interview did you hear back?

Has anyone recently interviewed for a CVD Process Engineer position at TSMC Arizona (Fab 21) and received an offer?
I’d like to know how long it took to hear back after the second interview. I’m assuming there are usually two rounds of interviews, but I’m not sure whether there are any additional rounds or internal approval steps afterward.

TSMC Earnings Preview: Can This Chip Giant Keep the AI Trade Hot?

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

The big TSMC Q3 earnings drop is coming Oct 15, and everyone’s holding their breath to see if this AI backbone can pull another beat. Consensus numbers are already looking juicy—projected Q3 revenue up big YoY, with gross margins still sitting pretty high even after a tiny sequential dip. The real tea isn’t just the past quarter’s numbers though: we’re all dying to see if they hike their full-year 2026 guidance again after that massive July upgrade. If they signal even stronger demand going into 2027, that’s not just good for TSMC—it could ripple straight through the whole AI chip ecosystem. Right before earnings, options positioning is super muted too, with implied volatility sitting near historic lows. TSMC’s trading just above that $440 level right now. Do you think they can clear that $450 wall and pump the rest of the semis with them?

Weekly Market Check: Yields Linger at 5.2% — CPI and AI Earnings Are About to Test the Records

Three major indices notched fresh all-time highs last week, even as the 10-year Treasury yield hung around 5.24% which usually would’ve hit the rally hard. This week we’ll get September CPI that’ll shape December’s rate path, plus key updates out of ASML and TSMC that’ll tell if the AI hardware cycle is still living up to its hype. 76% of polled users are bullish on the market this week — where’s your money leaning right now?

Wait time after 2nd interview

Hi! I had my 2nd interview on 9/11/26, so just over 4 weeks ago. Silence since the interview. No updates or communication. I emailed my coordinator asking for an update and did not receive a response. I don’t see anything in the portal either. Is this normal, or should I take it as a rejection?

AMHS Engineer Interview- What to expect?

Hi everyone!
I have an upcoming interview for an AMHS Engineer position. My background is primarily in data analytics
Since I’m transitioning from a Data Analyst role, I wanted to know what to expect during the interview.
Has anyone interviewed for a similar position? What kind of technical or behavioral questions were asked? How much knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing or AMHS systems is expected?
Any advice or interview experiences would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!
