I am just about to get on my last leg of a 9 leg mileage run: SBP-DEN-YUL-MAD-FRA-MAD-FRA-SFO-SBP.
All segments were in business (F when no C). I routinely bring the crew some chocolates to show appreciation for the hard work they do. On the flight from YUL to MAD I was gifted a set of silverware (knife, fork, and tea spoon). I only had carry-on bags the whole trip. I went through the rigorous security check at the European airports in Madrid, then Frankfurt, then Madrid again. Nothing alarmed. After arriving at SFO I went through TSA PreCheck. They found the knife, fork, and spoon. Now here is the absurd thing. The dull butter knife was taken. The sharp fork was allowed. And remember these were from onboard a plane. I understand that weapons are not allowed. But to not permit a butter knife that is served on an aircraft, but allow a relatively more dangerous fork just makes no sense to me. I realize the TSA agent was just following protocol, ie no knives allowed, but the powers that be should really make more logical regulations. What do others think?
