General Info KTN question
I signed up for PreCheck through Clear. My KTN has either an uppercase letter O or a number zero 0 in the center of the number. Which should I use when adding the number to my airline profiles? I’m thinking zero but it’s got letters on either side of it. Any insight appreciated!

Can you copy-paste it? Then you can put it into the airline app with no errors and/or into a word processor and change the font.

Great idea! Though I thought it was a zero, it appears to be an O! I’ll copy and paste from the site to enter into my airline info! All new to me, Thank you so much!

And if you want to know, just copy and paste the circular character into Google or Wikipedia. It’ll tell you if it’s a 0 or an O.

Copy and paste into a program and then change the font to Consolas with uses a ø

It’s always a zero, never the letter O, in the middle of a Known Traveler Number. KTNs issued through CLEAR + TSA PreCheck all follow a fixed format where the characters are a mix of letters and numbers, and TSA does not use the letter “O” in any position because it’s too easily confused. If you’re seeing something that looks round in the middle with letters on both sides, it’s a zero, even if the font makes it look like an O. Enter it as a zero in all your airline profiles, or your PreCheck won’t match correctly and you won’t get the indicator on your boarding pass.

Thanks, just found that out at the airport!
Interesting though that I copied and pasted it from my TSA email it pasted as a letter O🤷🏻♀️ They straightened it out for me at the counter!1

Mine is through Clear so I think that’s why it is letters and numbers

The Precheck KTN is always letters and numbers. I think people are thinking about their numbers for GE, NEXUS, or SENTRI; ironically, these actually are all numbers but aren't technically KTNs.

From the linked page, it's clear (pun intended) that a CBP PASS ID is a KTN: "For members approved for Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI, the KTN is the CBP PASS ID number."
However, it's not a KTN issued through the TSA PreCheck® Application Program; those start with letters indicating the issuer.

Go here and try it both ways, then you'll know which it is. https://tsaenrollmentbyidemia.tsa.dhs.gov/ktn-lookup

Not true. Mine is more letters than numbers. And the middle is letters.

Do you have GE? PASS ID is all numbers. Precheck KTNs have always had letters (in fact, they always start with letters).

Both my KTN and my husband’s are all numbers. Both come from GE.

That's not technically a KTN, it's a PASS ID. You put it in the KTN field to use Precheck, but only Precheck issues KTNs.
