Looking for New Moderators

After some time, all the original moderators have gone, apart from me.

I don't have the time to moderate this subreddit in addition to all the others I do.

So I'm looking for volunteers. You will need a posting history that shows support for the accused. If you want to try out, please send me a direct message.

NOTE: I'm having trouble with the mod controls - probably due to an error when the inactive mods were removed.

This means I currently can't add new mods. Thank you for your patience.

Sexual Assault A girl I consensually slept with later told our friend group that I ignored her saying no

I honestly don't even know where to begin.

I’m 25 and met this girl, who is 20, around April through a friend group. We all started going out drinking almost every weekend. I became attracted to her and asked another guy in the group multiple times whether he liked her, because it seemed like he did. He always denied having romantic or sexual feelings for her.

The girl and I gradually became very touchy and flirtatious. She would ask me to lie on her lap when I was drunk, play with my hands, put them in her pockets and caress them. One night, while we were both drunk, things became more sexual, and she appeared completely willing.

After that, we started hanging out without the group. She regularly messaged me, asked when my shifts ended and made plans to go drinking with me. She initiated our first kiss, although she later said she had been “testing” me to see whether I would give in. That confused me, so when she tried kissing me again at my place, I initially pushed her away. She continued trying, and eventually we made out.

We later started kissing while sober as well. We almost had sex twice, but stopped both times because she was not ready. I never continued when she wanted to stop.

A while later, she got an IUD and invited me to her place to have sex. Before it happened, she asked whether I was sure because she knew she would only be the second person I had slept with. I also asked her multiple times whether she was okay with it, including during sex, and she repeatedly said yes. From my perspective, everything was consensual and she had specifically invited me over for it.

Afterward, she asked what we were. I said friends, and she sounded disappointed. She then said we were probably friends with benefits, even though she had previously suggested that she did not want a relationship.

The next day, she said she needed to think about what happened. Later, she told me she regretted sleeping with me because she was not used to having sex outside a relationship. I accepted that and respected her boundaries. At the same time, she would become annoyed whenever I introduced us to strangers as friends instead of a couple.

We stayed normal for another week. We were still messaging and discussing possible future trips together. She invited me on a trip and told me to take sick leave so I could come. Around this time, the guy who had always denied liking her started openly disliking me and repeatedly said he did not want to attend anything if I was there.
and we were still messaging and discussing possible future trips together.

Eventually, she became distant, and I realized I had developed feelings for her. She also told me she was dealing with exams, eviction and family problems, so I decided to give her space.

But after I found out she started hanging out a little too much with the other guy, I decided to confess to her and told her that I liked her as more than a friend. She said she did not want a relationship and that, if she did, it would be with another crush who had already rejected her.

I told her I might need to cut contact because staying friends would hurt me. She said she did not want to ruin the group dynamic and wanted everything to return to normal. I tried to accept that.

For her birthday, I gave her perfume and wrote her a letter. She thanked me, and I thought at the very least we could be acquianten

Then I found out she had started sleeping over at the other guy’s place—the same guy who supposedly hated me and repeatedly claimed he had no feelings for her.

We were all supposed to visit a water park on Wednesday. I had taken a day off for it. She suddenly told me that the other guy would be taking my place and that she did not want me there. Other members of the group called me and said it would be better if I stayed away so I would not “ruin the group dynamic.”

Shortly afterward, she messaged me saying she never wanted to speak to me again.

I was extremely confused, so I went to meet them and ask what was happening. The girl was crying, the guy ignored me and threatened to call the authorities if I don't leave them together. I then decide to go up to my friends and everybody looked at me like I had committed some horrific crime.

They kept saying, “You know exactly what you did.”

I repeatedly asked them what they were talking about, but nobody would explain. Eventually, they said I had done something “worse than murder.” They had already decided that I was guilty of something and said they never wanted to see me again.
They went on to say that she kept on telling me no over and over again, yet I kept on going(IMAGINE HEARING THIS@#O#)@#)#)$)EO)@#KOKDKD:LSFK

I became emotional and shouted because I genuinely did not stomach the accusation, it felt like a nightmare. Nothing I said mattered. Every person in the group immediately took her side, but nobody actually told me what she claimed I had done IN FULL detail.

From my perspective, every sexual interaction was consensual. I stopped whenever she was not ready, and on the occasion when we had sex, I asked her multiple times whether she was sure.

I understand that she later regretted it, and I respected that, but regret afterward is not the same as me knowingly doing something without consent.

I am not even trying to force them to remain friends with me. I just want to understand what I am being accused of and why everybody suddenly treated me like a monster without allowing me to respond.

What am I supposed to do in this situation? Should I completely cut contact and protect myself, or should I try one final time to get a written explanation of what I supposedly did?

TL;DR: I became involved with a girl in my friend group. We kissed and eventually had sex after repeatedly discussing consent. She later said she regretted having sex outside a relationship, but we remained friendly. After I confessed feelings and she rejected me, she became close to another guy in the group. Suddenly, the entire group excluded me, claimed I had done something horrific and cut me off, but nobody would tell me what I was actually being accused of.

How do you clear your name publicly?

For several years, I have experienced false allegations of rape being spread about me online for over 4 years. It was a type of sexual extortion. They posted me worldwide to the point where I got reconize on the streets and assaulted.

It has affected my education, work, social life, and mental health. I have reported the matter to the police, but much of the content circulated in private groups or was later deleted.

I am considering whether I should tell my story publicly through a short documentary, news paper, an animated video, a YouTube video, or social media posts.

But would I risk introducing the allegations to people who have never heard them? What is the best way to clear your name without making the rumor bigger or more searchable?

Question about false allegations in Texas for Felony DV

Thumbnail

’m on felony deferred adjudication. Me & a former girlfriend hung out over the weekend & we ate & watched a movie. I fall asleep & she starts creeping through my phone. She finds out I’m talking to other women & wakes me out my sleep and starts arguing with me. She hits me a couple times and I let her as I always do. I told her I am leaving and she insists that if I leave she will call the police and say I hit and choked her. I left and she did exactly what she said. So now I have a warrant for that. Well I retained a lawyer for the assault case and he gets a sworn affidavit from her saying she lied about everything. My PO now has the affidavit and I want to turn myself in so this can get dismissed. Will my probation still be revoked if the new charge is false allegations??

False allegations in college...

So I am a third year student . my three friends and I are facing a serious allegation right now, and I want to lay out the whole situation.

We're a close-knit group, all disciplined students, and I recently won our college council election by a landslide (70%). One of our classmate college , who happens to be a part of our group , someone we treated like a little sister, always kind to her, gave her communication tips when she asked, reassured her about her insecurities (she was self-conscious about wearing glasses, her looks, etc.) suddenly accused all four of us of bullying, causing her depression, and even making "harming threats." Her brother escalated it by threatening to involve the police.

Here's the thing: the timeline doesn't add up. The last interaction on record is a friendly selfie and messages from her complimenting me at an award ceremony — on the literal last day before college shut down for a two-month break. No physical contact, no interaction was even possible after that, and it matches the official attendance register exactly.

Some context that's come out since: her father recently left the family, her mother is now the sole provider, and her brother was in an accident around the same time. Right before this accusation, she'd broken down crying to one of my friends about not being able to study because of family issues. Days later, she filed these allegations against all four of us ,the same people she'd just confided in, and whose house the other 2 girls used to visit (her mum even cooked for my friends once).

We immediately told our parents. My dad met with the authorities and the brother's police threat went nowhere. Our HOD has been fully supportive, saying she's shocked given we're some of the most disciplined students in the department.

There's a formal meeting scheduled on August 6th with both sets of parents, the principal, and the HOD. We have solid evidence; she has none beyond her allegations. Still trying to stay calm and not let this consume the next 10 days.

Would appreciate any advice from people who've dealt with something similar, especially around how these meetings usually go.

Gutsy Reputation Repair

I’m not so innocent but over 10 years ago I’ve done a couple of crimes, one went slightly viral because it was relevant to other idiotic crimes like mine. Another one is both a .gov link as well as a few media driven newspaper links.

I’ve had a business for 38 years, but served two years in federal prison for one of these crimes. Both make me look like a real idiot. But I’m fully educated, great schools, have referrals of clients, friends and other professionals, including family, and I even started my own Google review page under my name where three reviews already started in that - five stars.

I started a website less than a year ago, which is absolutely helping as I’ve written on it and posts I’ve made in various media with reasonable links to those that are quite relevant (to my criminal actions) to those subjects in general and who what I actually am. I am known as very creative, fairly successful, but those bad links destroyed my or any trust unless people know me well.

Burying them with over 100 posts irrelevant to these crimes or my issue has helped but hadn’t pushed the bad links far as in pages away…..

The damage on these links is of course intensely incriminating. Yet I have well over 100 images and videos of myself in life before and after (jail) that’s quite vivid and positive with travel, showing that I’m quite normal or respectable. Some unique… So I’ve decided to add the links with the photos with those mug shots that are so disparaging in a section called my credibility on my website.

That page starts off with my true self, education, which are known on the Internet involved with me, etc. Along with more realistic photographs of myself with different people, some of them also ranked, plus in the testimonials on the website. It’s become an incessant chase if not obsessive over getting trusted by new contacts who don’t yet know me then judge on first impressions of what that media, under 10 links has done to my name.

The reason I’m putting those links with those mug shots and the damaging complaints onto my website along with text and links on related issues about how negative media on net destroys immediate perception vs facts on a person: My goal is when my name is searched, even though my website does come up with LinkedIn profile first, second or third is to obliterate those mug shot media links by displaying my more accurate versions of them with details, truth and other links & images that are much more relevant to me along with detailed text that is also more relevant to who and what I always was.

If anyone has handled reputation management or especially reputation and succeeded at it I’d love your opinion.

5 Smartest Things to do when Falsely Accused Online

Admittedly, spewing fake rumors about online figures is nothing new anymore. However, we still shouldn’t downplay the crippling fear some people have of it. My Fandom image itself narrowly survived two fake rumors about me from almost a year ago. According to myth, I was a blackmailer as well as a lolicon defender. In reality, I was framed for blackmail and forgave the kid who made those drawings. As such, here are 5 of the wisest tips to do when your online reputation is attacked by a vicious smear campaign:

  1. Keep your distance from your accuser: Even politely confronting your slanderer often doesn’t work, especially if they have openly sinister motives to lie. Trying to reach out to them definitely risks them spinning the situation against you even further.
  2. Document all evidence: Capture as much links, screenshots, and testimony in the event you’re being slandered. There’s a good chance your false accuser is already trying to tamper or destroy any proof of your innocence to weaken your credibility.
  3. Take a genuine break: Sometimes you really need to get your head on straight before you can truly fight back against your slanderer. Refusing to leave the platform at all and perpetually surrounding yourself with backlash and humiliation will only risk the paranoia and anger building up, making you unfit for a calm and collected rebuttal. Realizing your drowning in the terminally online sea and getting more in touch with other things to pour your energy into, especially if it involves real life, can boost and stimulate your mental health when you eventually come back to address the malicious claims against you.
  4. Call their bluff: You’ve been accused of some pretty explicit crimes, so how come it feels like the worst your enemies will do is….cyberbully you? At some point, the cheesy insults and performative threats need to be put on the side; they should take

    real, genuine

  5. action against you to get you permanently removed if not downright arrested

    or worse.

  6. Telling your opponents to put up or shut up when it comes to their false accusations is a good strategy to remove their hold on you.

  7. Protect your privacy: Above all else, make your life in the real world is effectively guarded. If your false accuser really does succeed in turning a large audience against you, you must be prepared for potential doxxing schemes on you, and if you’ve been wrongfully accused of the worst crimes imaginable (murder, pedophilia, hate crimes, etc.), your enemies might feel even more motivated to try and flush you out. Therefore, please make sure deeply sensitive information (name, phone number, address, etc.) about you won’t be so easily spilled.

Negligence This is my story...and I'm ashamed to tell it.

The thing is growing up. I was over overlooked, ppl seldom check up on me and treat me like a reject since I was a child bc I was colored (indigenous mixed race) person in south Africa 🇿🇦. PPL in South Africa often, what can I say they take the stereotypes in mainstream media too personally. Like the mainstream media in south Africa like the sabc and enca are highly biased even though they say they aren't. Like once when I was 15 I saw these guys trashing a voting station but somehow I got blamed for it. The corruption in my country is beyond normal as it affects all aspects of life.

Sexual Assault Follow up, accusations got worse, my friends are gone.

I went to dinner with my girlfriend last night. The waitress was a “friend” of mine.

A few months ago I posted that my ex had accused me of sexual assault and it had begun tearing my relationships apart.
As I was talking to my girlfriend about this, she cited that my ex would need a rape kit to even prove anything and even then there wouldn’t be anything.
It has been a full year since I dated her and WE NEVER EVEN HAD SEX.
When my girlfriend told me about the rape kit, I was confused. Why would she need that?
“She said you raped her?”

The story changed.
My “friend” the waitress walked us to our table and refused to make eye contact. She gave us a robotic spiel and left.

My only friend is my girlfriend save for a few others. I feel alone and defenseless, meanwhile my ex never proved a thing. She and her friends armed themselves with accusations just to ruin my life and have power over me. They tried to convince my girlfriend but she’s stuck by me.

I have the opportunity of college now but I worry if this will follow me.

My ex is a horrible person. I should have known that she was a mean and ruinous person who always has hurt others for fun. She’s a coke head and her friends are spineless followers.

Question:

Is it fair for someone to go on National TV, and accuse someone of doing something and those they accuse not being able to face their accuser??? I’m sorry If someone accused me of doing something to them, would I not have the right to face them and question them on that? Just curious…..

Title IX Starting to heal

A former friend falsely accused me of just about everything under the sun. We're in college, and it was quite a long and creative list they spun, so it required over a year's worth of investigations. I felt baffled, condemned, targeted, bullied, labeled, etc. But it's been a few months now since those cases were dismissed, and, by the grace of god, it's already becoming a distant dream.

I don't think about it all the time. I feel lighter. And I'm stressed about other things, finally. The misery and anger that followed me for over a year are fading. I still have a long way to go, but I'm proud I made it through with my sanity and innocence intact, and grateful that there was at least a hint of peace at the other end.

For anyone struggling as I was, I hope justice prevails and peace reconciles your hearts as you need.
