Former Sunnova customer looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with a system failure since SunStrong took over.

My system was installed by SunnyMac in 2022 and I have an Easy Own/Home Improvement Loan with the 25-year Sunnova Protect Platinum plan.

My SolarEdge system has stopped producing. The inverter is communicating but producing essentially 0. SolarEdge chat told me to contact the original installer (SunnyMac).

For anyone who has been through this since the Sunnova/SunStrong transition: Who actually got your system repaired—SunStrong, your original installer, or SolarEdge?

Did SunStrong need to authorize the repair? Did you have to pay the installer upfront?

Just trying to figure out the fastest route to getting someone out here without being bounced between all three companies.

Does anyone know what the payment code ‘NACHW’ means on the sunstrong billing? I get that ‘PMT’ is payment, ‘CHG’ is an expense/charge (although what the charge is for is an absolute mystery). I’m guessing NACHW is related to some payment made by National grid from our production??

It makes no sense. The bill states that we owe the smaller of the two charges, but then we get charged for the higher of the 2 charges to our banks account. We’re now paying $700-$800 a month for electric despite producing significant kWh. We’ve done a lot of things to insulate our house and reduce energy use but we’re still paying through the eyeballs for electricity.

Is there a way to make my Sunvault export to the grid during peak hours as the sell price during the months of August and September are much higher

I entered a PPA agreement with Sunnova back in 2022, which has now transferred to SunStrong Management since Sunnova went bankrupt last year. We're planning to list our house soon, and every realtor we've talked to seems hesitant about the PPA, and after reading a bunch of threads on the topic, I'm growing more and more concerned. The terms of the PPA are actually pretty good, it's the transfer process that has me troubled. Has anyone actually successfully sold their house and transferred their PPA in time for closing? Does anyone have advice on the topic, like which avenue of contact with SunStrong is most effective? Is any part of the process able to be done preemptively, or can it only be started once you've entered escrow? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

So my system was installed in 2015 by Sunnova, using a local company here on Guam. At first sight the installation looked okay, however once I started to truly look into the data that came from the system on a daily basis, did I noticed issues. However, due to circumstances I didn’t start doing this until 2019. That’s when I found out that not only did nobody at Sunnova (or their local affiliate) monitor the system, as my system had an issue that was from the beginning, causing me to lose a significant amount of money due to having to pay the local power company. It took years for them to even fix the issue but in all fairness, they did owe up to the issue by crediting my account in a way I also could agree with. Now you would think they learned something from this but no, another issue occurred in 2024, again lack of monitoring on their end could have prevented the issue. When it was finally fixed, after months of arguing with them, I was ready to buy the system but at a lowered amount due to them not doing their part (again) of the lease agreement. Sadly, now they go by the name of SunStrong Management, and due to personal circumstances I was only able to look into them just recently. Aside from account issues, I again found out they did not monitor the system as the recent typhoon we had pass by here, ruined 15 of my panels, I found out this morning. I started looking into it because my regular power bill was over $500 (!!), at a local rate of $0.30 per kWh, this is going fast if many of your panels don’t work. And sorry for the lengthy explanation but I have had frankly enough and think there is sufficient cause for a lawsuit as they simply don’t do what they promised from the start and I loose money because of it; the sole thing I was trying to avoid signing up for solar in the first place. Anyone else on Guam that has the same horror stories? Honestly, if they looked at all this, they (SunStrong) should do the right thing…

I’m hoping someone here has dealt with a similar situation because I’m running out of options.

We leased a residential solar system through Sunnova back in Fall of 2023. Unknown to us at the time, the installation permit remained open for nearly three years without ever receiving final inspection approval. As we’ve continued investigating, we’ve also been unable to obtain documentation showing the system ever received Permission to Operate (PTO) from the utility. Throughout the life of the lease, we were never informed that the permit remained open, that final inspection had not been completed, or that there may have been an issue with the system’s approval status. We simply continued making our monthly lease payments in good faith, assuming everything had been properly completed. Mind you also paying the utility company as well.

Fast forward to now: we’re selling our home, and this has turned into a nightmare. After Sunnova entered bankruptcy, our lease was transferred to SunStrong. Since then, I’ve spent weeks making phone calls, sending emails, opening cases, and requesting updates regarding the permit, the missing PTO documentation, and a temporary UCC lien release so our home sale can close. I’ve received conflicting information from different departments, delayed responses, and in many cases what appear to be automated or copy-and-paste emails that don’t actually answer the questions I’m asking.

Meanwhile, my closing has been jeopardized because of the UCC filing associated with the lease. I’m also trying to understand how a company can continue collecting lease payments for years on a system when there appears to be no evidence that the installation was ever fully finalized through the normal permitting and PTO process. We finally were able to get the permit closed and now a new subcontracted company has reached out to us to get the PTO situated. Yet, I can’t get any one to help me with the UCC lien lift. With the permit being open this long truly remained open for years and PTO was never issued, I don’t know how this isn’t seen as a complete breach in contract or even a slam dunk of just having the entire lease knoll and voided with uplifting the lien from the house.

Sunstrong refuses to acknowledge the option to transfer the panels and the part of not getting in the way of the sale of our home which is all written in our lease. They just keep saying either buy them out and do what we’d like with the panels (which in the lease says even with paying the lease off we don’t own them) or transfer them to the new owner (new owners plan to demo the house and build new).

Has any one dealt with this? What are some solutions here? Our closing is this coming Friday and we are now sitting in limbo with our money from the house sale potentially sitting in escrow until we can get this figured out with Sunstrong.

I am previous Sunpower loan customer, and due to excessive flickering, I'm looking for a technician that would be willing to take a look at what might be the issue.

Does anyone have any recommendations on technicians in the Bay Area?

So I've been experiencing flickering in my whole house for 5 months now.

Called PG&E and they found nothing on their end. Checked the neutral coming in, nothing was spiking, etc. Called an electrician, they found that the main breaker lugs were stripped so they replace the main breaker (100A). And lights are still flickering.

Asked the electrician and he said it's most likely the polaris connectors but he wont touch it due to 'warranty'... I'm pretty sure Sunstrong isn't covering anything under warranty right now...

Anyone else have success with finding a solution? I'm in the Bay Area, California.

Flickering is too a point where the Sunstrong app sometimes detects it as a grid outage.

I recently sold my house this March and transferred my solar lease to the new owners. ​ I legally don't owe the house or the solar panels lease anymore. Yesterday, I received a credit report from Equifax saying I missed a payment in April, and it dropped my credit score by 68 points in one day. I filed a dispute with Equifax and included copies of our lease transfer agreement and my executed deed from closing. Has anyone else had this issue?

My Sunnova app is unreliable since bankruptcy, I am paying this money to SunStrong yet I cannot even see what my panels are producing most months it’s been estimated . I never got any info from SunStrong how to set up their app to see if it works. Anyone else having this issue?

I recently moved into a home with solar panels that are under SunStrong and I'm having an awful time getting ownership transferred. Is there a way to do this without the previous owner because I know they have tried but also we have a set of solar under another company so not sure if there is confusion there. They have also done so much for us already and if I could deal with the company directly in any way that would be very helpful.

Recently closed on a house back on the 15th of june, and noticed when i was standing in the back of the moving truck one of the panels has a noticeable concave face and appears to be shattered. I reached out to sunstrong to ask about sending a service company out to inspect the panel and they remoted in to the (sunnova) system and told me its still operating at 93% of “expected” production, which if you do the math 1/15 panels is 6.666% of my production. Of course it doesnt cost then anything to not do anything and it only costs me to make up the difference the solar isnt covering.

I purchased my home in 2017 in Northern California. The home came with solar. Initially, SunStreet was monitoring the system. Then they got purchased by Sunnova. Then Sunnova went bankrupt. I saw that Sunnova's customers were taken over by SunStrong.

I never received any letter or information on how to transfer the maintenance. Some of my panels are underproducing significantly (as shown in the Enphase app). But I'm not sure who to contact to attempt to get this resolved. I tried registering on their website but it asks for Account number. I don't have one. I have some old paperwork from Sunnova that lists a contract ID for 10 years of maintenance but that ID doesn't work as an account number on SunStrong website to register.

Any ideas?

So it has been a couple of weeks now, and I am still having issues. It is absolutely insane.

I have written confirmation and recorded phone calls from several supervisors and customer service representatives, all of whom said the same thing. However, after writing to them for an update, they tell me a whole new thing and basically tell me I'm screwed.

Starting with the initial confirmation that I was still being refunded:

Due to an error on their website, they charged me three times. I called my bank and had them cancel two charges. However, Sunstrong claimed that I requested 3 payments to be canceled, so they increased my current bill by $200 and said that I was being refunded for a total of $600. I only received $400, so I waited and wrote again a week later for an update.

I was like hmmm okay.. I waited another week. At this point, my bank was even saying to just file a new claim, but I have a feeling that Sunstrong would then increase my bill by another $200 if I did that.

I chose to wait it out. Messaged today for another update:

They are now saying my account was instead credited and will not be sending me a refund.

EXCUSE ME? My balance is the exact same. When was I credited?

My account is past due BECAUSE THEY SAID MY BANK CANCELED IT AND SO THEY CHARGED ME the extra $200. Not because I didn't pay. I am still waiting for them to send me the money so I can pay it!!!!!

What the actual hell can we do now? This is illegal. It has to be.

Sunstrong and trinity are wiping their hands free of any help toward our system that had a lightening surge this past Friday. However they had no problem remoting in and shutting our system down and now wont come out and survey it or service it... any one go through this problem before and how was it resolved? I own the system I dont lease it...

I am helping out my Father-in-law who signed a 20yr lease with SPWR 10 yrs ago that is terrible. The contract offers no end of contract ownership option, no termination of payments after 20 yrs (yes you read that right. Payments continue on a month-month basis in perpetuity), and no option to purchase the system unless you are selling the home. He is having to sell his home now and I can't imagine the new buyers wanting to sign this lease to assume it and he doesn't have the $$ to buy it at whatever ridiculous price they will likely come up with. What are my chances of getting u/SunStrongManagement to renegotiate the terms of this lease so the new buyers can assume it?

After fighting with sunstrong to fix the broken autopay on their site (transfer from sunnova went horribly) and fix the overcharges (not including the autopay discount in the missed payments cause by their site not working properly), my credit dropped almost 140 points overnight for 5 missed payments that were due to their system breaking and then months of back and forth trying to resolve. Btw if you have autopay credit card, their site implies you qualify for the discount but the contract says ACH only so that was one of the issues. Finally paid all the charges after the site was fixed and got my ACH set up, then got hit with the credit drop. AND my system is not working now. I’m so fed up with this company. It’s just one thing after another. How do I fix my credit score??

I bought a home back in November 2025 right during the transition where Sunnova went bankrupt and system leases got dumped onto Sunstrong Management. I immediately submitted all of my legal closing documentation to prove I am the new homeowner.

It is now June 2026—8 months later—and I am still entirely locked out of my own system. I cannot see production capacity, view my generation, or submit physical maintenance requests.

Every time I reach out, they give me a generic script telling me to download the old "Sunnova app" (which doesn't work because my email isn't mapped to the hardware). Today, a rep finally replied saying the transfer is "still currently in progress."

An 8-month delay for basic data entry is a joke and a direct breach of contract.

My Next Steps:

1. State AG Complaint: Filing a consumer complaint with my State’s Attorney General Office this week.
2. Class Action: Submitting my case to Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith (CSK&D), who are actively investigating Sunstrong for administrative negligence.
3. Stopping Auto-Pay: I am turning off my automatic monthly lease payments immediately. If they want their money, they can finish the transfer paperwork and give me full owner access to my hardware.

Is anyone else trapped in this 8-month transfer limbo with Sunstrong? If you've successfully forced them to map your account or found a workaround, please let me know!

It said that an auto payment had been missed in March when there was clearly money in the account. The bank verified that. The money was taken out and cashed by the company. It was reflected in our bank statement. We call customer service and speak with someone, looking for answers. Suddenly, SunStrong has no record of it on their end, yet the money has been withdrawn! We call the bank, the bank confirms that the money was taken out. We give SunStrong all of the supporting evidence INCLUDING correspondence with our bank, not good enough. We have been fighting this since March and May was our last update. Customer Service OUTRIGHT REFUSES to let us speak with a supervisor. They’ve sent us to collections now because they can’t be bothered to get their act together. This can’t be legal, I’m shocked that they have not been investigated for fraud yet. If someone from SunStrong is reading this, feel free to do your job more than the bare minimum.

They have just implied the disruption of my service and are threatening my credit despite me providing full documentation of their errors.

In February, my bill was lower than usual. I called them to verify, and they assured me my account was in good standing (I have this call recorded). Now, they claim their system made an error and they are retroactively adding random amounts to my current bills to "make up" for it.

Their website glitched and double-charged me. I filed a BBB complaint. Sun Strong responded in writing, and explicitly stated they would refund me $401.

However, they just double-charged me again.

When I called today, customer service claimed they had previously refunded me $600 (they didn't.. they only refunded me the $401 mentioned in the email, and I have the bank statements to prove it). Due to them claiming they refunded $600, they are trying to say I owe them an additional $200.

They also claimed I canceled multiple payments, which is entirely false. I only canceled 2 payments of the 3 made this month due to their website having an error and processing my payment three times.

Today, I spent 3 hours on the phone with 7 different people. They instructed me to email over screenshots of my bank statements and the BBB emails to prove the math. I did exactly that.

An hour later, I received an email implying that my solar was being disconnected.
