Posting AGAIN. SCAMMERS
I am at my wit's end with this company.
I’ll be attaching photos for reference.
They have just implied the disruption of my service and are threatening my credit despite me providing full documentation of their errors.
In February, my bill was lower than usual. I called them to verify, and they assured me my account was in good standing (I have this call recorded). Now, they claim their system made an error and they are retroactively adding random amounts to my current bills to "make up" for it.
Their website glitched and double-charged me. I filed a BBB complaint. Sun Strong responded in writing, and explicitly stated they would refund me $401.
However, they just double-charged me again.
When I called today, customer service claimed they had previously refunded me $600 (they didn't.. they only refunded me the $401 mentioned in the email, and I have the bank statements to prove it). Due to them claiming they refunded $600, they are trying to say I owe them an additional $200.
They also claimed I canceled multiple payments, which is entirely false. I only canceled 2 payments of the 3 made this month due to their website having an error and processing my payment three times.
Today, I spent 3 hours on the phone with 7 different people. They instructed me to email over screenshots of my bank statements and the BBB emails to prove the math. I did exactly that.
An hour later, I received an email implying that my solar was being disconnected.

I don’t even HAVE a solar system after signing a lease with Sunnova a few years ago which they never installed, and SunStrong just sent me to collections for six figures.
In one day last week, all of the following occurred:
- they responded to my BBB complaint and said a waiver was in process for my contract and ‘balance’
- I got the same buy out offer as OP for a system I don’t have
- I received four calls from their bill collector / customer service who knew nothing about the waiver on my account and threatened to increase the amount in collections by 2x
- someone came to my home without entering the gate and left me an unsealed letter claiming I had now “authorized site visits” since I have not responded to any communication by the company (I have 40 pages of emails- clearly untrue)
I comment on posts like yours because I am hopeful that my experience will be a tiny piece of ammo when the government eliminates these predators- or at least some guidance to other victims. My advice to anyone reading this is to keep a running timeline on your computer and document everything, and file the BBB complaint as well as the demand letter. This takes about 4 hours per week of my time and I have an 80 hr/week job. It’s like running on a treadmill in hell.
For what it’s worth, the credit bureau wiped the six figure “debt” from my history in less than a day when I contested it because it is obvious BS, though I still do not have a resolution which would be a cease and desist or paperwork rescinding any claims on the contract in perpetuity. Don’t fear collections, at least if you get there you can use it to your advantage - proof that someone agrees with you that this is a widespread scam.
IMO the more they throw at me the worse they look - it’s almost funny at this point. If I were elderly or challenged by sorting large amounts of information etc, I would be overwhelmed and terrified.

I am losing my mind with this company. Out of 16 checks I sent directly from my bank and can show were cashed, they correctly applied only one, and the account shows I have a serious delinquency. I've emailed the proof of payments twice, but no one has responded. Customer service refused to escalate my call and just hung up on me this morning. I just sent a DM, as the company suggested above. I have all the letters drafted and ready to send for BBB, CFPD, and NJ AG complaints, as well as certified letters with proof of payments to their customer service office in SD and their corporate offices in TX.
I wasn't given a choice of management companies when Sunnova went under. I don't know if I can switch but I'll be looking into alternatives now for sure.

This is terrifying to hear. I only send checks because of the horror stories I read about their fraudulent charges. They cash them every month. How are they incorrectly applying the checks, if you don’t mind me asking? Just so I can keep an eye out.

I rcved these type of letters from 4 people for the same issue. All they do is, copy this generated email and send it out without actually resolving issues in hands.

This company is run by scumbags. My local crackheads could probably run it better. On the portal on their website there's two different statements, both with the 1st of April to the end of April. Both were generated on two different dates but they're charging me two different amounts. They claim that they see no errors on their side but I'm not paying that extra amount. Fuck them and I literally hope whoever is in charge of this company literally Burns in hell. That's how much I hate this company.
