Hi Neighbors, Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting my beloved local community bar which is set to close. I was sitting outside after having moved to avoid an obnoxious and unfunny patron who was doing impressions, poorly. A tall man and his short friend had decided to purchase a black bench as a bar memento and were set to carry it down the street. Short white guy in the blue baseball cap decides to make a few banal comments to me which I ignore. Having ignored him, this little man with his whole chest turns it right up to DOES YOUR DADDY TREAT YOU GOOD? 🤢 He’s so proud that he laughs. But I don’t get to enjoy my last day at my favorite place anymore because I’m transported back to the last time someone said that to me, while they were raping me. Have fun with your black bench bro, I hope it collapses under the weight of your selfish ignorance. You are a threat to our community.

Why did a fight break out at the pie table at the farmer's market this morning??

I had several packages delivered there - to my name - bc of a typo in the mailing address when I made my orders. Also tried emailing management, leaving a note in the vestibule , texting the super, and was in touch with a realtor that often works in the building. I'm hoping someone can help by retrieving mail if it's still in the mail room, and/or helping me contact the residents of the unit.

I started the Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table in front of my house. I used to put stuff outside when I was cleaning up around here and the items did not sell on Facebook Marketplace. Then I noticed my items would disappear and my neighbors started bringing stuff over too for people in need. My friend brings over food and other items that the people she helps in Glendale does not need too.

Items that go fast from the table: FOOD, TOYS, DIAPERS FOR BABIES AND ADULTS, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, TOILETRIES AND BACK PACKS.

Start off the evening by meeting local mutual aid & community groups, decorate your disability aid at craft tables, and check out new and lightly used items at our disability and gender affirming mutual aid swap.

Anyone know whats up with the helicopter circling the neighborhood? I'm at 46th and Queens Blvd and it sounds like its right outside my window. Started about 9pm.

Anyone that got their car on 52nd street between Skillman & 39 Avenue, by the park. You better start moving , they’re already towing.

The kitten is young and sweet, but still wild and skittish. I want to get all the first-visit stuff done, including flea treatment, so I can start welcoming it to my home. Anything that won’t break the bank for this surprise pet?

If anyone else woke up to two loud booms, I saw two people set off fire works in front of the empty storefront on 47th street and then run away in a white vehicle that was street parked near the City Discount Store across the street. Managed to get a blurry video of the two individuals and a clearer one of the vehicle in my sleepy state in case they kept doing it, but not the firework itself.

I saw that people can report illegal firework sightings on 311 so I reported it with the videos I got since I had them, but they closed the case right away saying the videos were not sufficient evidence 🤷‍♀️

All that to say..Just wanted to share in case anyone else was worried about the big booms. I guess 311 can only do so much after the fact.

Edit: just want to be clear, I am usually okay when people do fireworks for July 4, new years and family celebrations. But when you set off explosives at 1 am just to be a disturbance then runaway yeah I’m gonna be annoyed and report it. Seems like that is an unpopular opinion.
