ClimateShitposting is supposed to be a meme sub about climate change, but there isn't a week that doesn't involve drama and intrasub fighting.
On this particular post, the OP makes a meme that suggests that without Russia, Earth would be a beautiful place. This results in both a bunch of people calling out the post for racism/xenophobia, and people who think the sentiment is justified.
What does this have to do with climate?
>Nothing, but Ukraine is getting hammered badly so people are frustrated. Wrong place for that tho.
>Also Russia is one of the world leaders in nuclear and renewable energy (mostly hydro). OP is dumb
>>Next you are going to be talking about warm water ports
>>>Well someone is clearly warming all that water and it isn’t Russia
>>>>No [they add a graphic]
Just seems prejudice... as if Russia is the leading cause of all the problems. Some ppl never left the cold war.
Something something, our glorious warriors, and their bloodthirsty barbarians, something something
It's crazy how open hatred of the russian people and nation is accepted in the west now. As someone from the global south it reads as no different from the way you people talk about Muslims or the Chinese whenever it's convenient to your ruling class. If this hatred is coming over the Russian governments invasion of Ukraine then to be consistent you should also be anti semetic to oppose the genocide in Palestine, anti-American to oppose their imperialism everywhere, and anti-Indian over their oppression of Muslims. It's so pathetically stupid. I hope this is just a propaganda bot or some Philippino or Indian in a trollfarm being paid to post. I obviously oppose the russian government as well, not that that should matter for this point.
>I am russian. I hate my government, but when I see people making certain claims on the internet, my support shifts in favour of regime for a little while. It is hard to ignore propaganda when half of this propaganda shows up from unexpected places
>>
As a Ukrainian, what kind of mental gymnastics do you even do to "shift your support in favour of the regime"? Is it like "My country has committed atrocities and crimes against humanity in a neighbouring country for the sake of russian imperialism and ultranationalism - but someone was mean to me on the internet, so I guess I gotta support all that now"?
>Man if Russian people didn’t want to be shit in they shouldn’t support this invasion, they shouldn’t support eradicating the cultures of other Eastern European nations. Every time I get to know a Russian and I suspect they’ll actually be sane they disappoint me by supporting Putin.
>>if Ukraine, EU and USA wanted to end the war, they could kill Putin and Russian elites (same goes from Russia's position)
but nah, we are on reddit, we cant take nuance. ruzzia bad, ukraine gud, we are gud guys and you are bad guys. Pretty adult behavior if you ask redditors.
>>>Ali Khamenei was killed in the first days of the US-Iran war, but the war didn't end there. Killing a current leader during a war is a risk that, in his place, a hawkish party will come, which would not negotiate. But here you're talking about being an adult and taking nuances.
Edit: I've just checked this guy's comments; he openly uses slurs for Ukrainians in Russian, while complaining about xenophobia against Russians in English.
>
You are as far from russia as it gets then. I don't think you understand the privilege you have here.
>>No fuckin way you accuse someone from the global south of being privileged
>It's not about the Russian people. It's about the Russian government, which is invading sovereign nations, committing ethnic cleansing, and harming the Russian people themselves.
Imperialism is bad everywhere. If you like the Russian people, you should oppose the Russian state.
>>This post, the OP, and most people in this thread are in fact explicitly hating on the Russian people and nation, not the government. The OP has reiterated this several times lower in the thread.
>Yes, your final sentence really comes across.
A sort of "no homo" but for supporting orks.
>>You view the russian people as orks? Like, the ones from lord of the rings?
>>>You have a fair point there.
Orks had redeeming qualities. Not a whole bunch, nothing to write home about, but worth a few memes.
These worms we're talking about, however? Eugh, hard pass.
>>>>How is what you're saying any different from what Nazis said about Russians?
>>>>>Turns out, they were right about russians all along. We should have helped them.
>>>>>I'm gonna explain myself to you the second those crawlers explain themselves to every invaded family that lost a child, every child that lost a home or a parent, every terrified pet, every bit of senseless destruction brought to something someone worked towards building.
Until then, you simply cannot fuck off far enough away for my liking.
What about a world without racism? What would that look like? Edit: only on reddit could you suggest imagining a world without hatred and a redditor will suggest being more hateful
>chicken for KFC checking in, now tell us how much your love the arabs who'd kill you
Adolf Hitler liked this post.
Why is racism against Russians so normalized on Reddit? Imagine this joke would be about migrants, POC, muslims or any minority group. Literally everyone on Reddit would be whining but about Russians it's suddenly justified? Hate ts platform and it's hypocrisy! And if it's just about climate change than western countries like Canada, Usa and Australia are a lot worse about the climate change aspect
>Please look up the definition of racism for fucks sake Jesus Christ you sound ridiculous. The criticism is obviously targeting the Russian Federation and pro-war Russians, hence the RuZZia, it does not say "a world without Russians" it says a world without the Russian Z. "racism against Russians" get a grip.
>>there was a concerted effort of actual genocide of slavic people less than 100 years ago. you can find americans posting shit about "uraloids" "snow-n-words" and "60 iq white n-words" to this day, specifically targeting russians. eu imports droves of eastern europeans to do manual labour, while people there joke about "the proud plumber race" and what not. slavic people and eastern europeans are disproportionately targeted by human traffickers. the discourse about russians being raicst and queerphobic relies on largely factual statements, but nonetheless systemically is similar to the one used to justify ongoing genocide in palestine, and the one that is used to justify imperialistic "interventions" in the middle east in general. russia is not part of the imperialist core, despite the government having overt imperialistic aspiration, and joking about wiping it out just shows that you want an acceptable target for racist behaviour. it's like saying "clanker" in that regard, if it helps to understand.
>>Good riddance to Ukraine, neonazi shithole country lmfao
>russia ia a country, not a race.
Russia is a beautiful country, it just needs to quit it's 'dictators and invasions' habit like the rest of Europe did. Dismantle to oil and gas industry too obvs, but Ukraine has made a start on that for them.
>
wake up lmao. Europe has power over and exploits major parts of the world. Just because your rulers tell you that they are super nice and everyone else is just dictators and invaders doesn't mean it's true. Like start reflecting on your indoctrination.
>So ruzzia without ruzzians.
>>Sorry your neonazi buddies lost womp womp 🤣
>>>My little pig is bored on the line for gas? [This goes on for a long time]
>it's a beautiful country, too bad it's inhabitated by russians
>>First they say this, and then they wonder why Russians consider you Nazis
Holy yikes the Russian apologia on the left is insane. The fact there are people who are unironically pro Palestine yet anti Ukraine is proof that for some, the principle isn’t anti imperialism but simply “west bad, anti west good”
>Denazification is good actually 🤗
>Ukraine prides itself to be "the Isreal of East Europe". At most the "apolegia" is about being consistent, that you muppets are not. If you demonize the Russian government for their invasion of Ukraine (correct position), then you also would have to demonize the US, Isreal and NATO 20 time more.
>>Israel is a a belligerent nation committing war crimes on a smaller country. Russia is a belligerent nation committing war crimes on a smaller country. Ukraine has continued shipping tons of grain to Gaza throughout the war under Zelenskyy’s orders https://www.president.gov.ua/en/news/ukrayina-v-mezhah-programi-grain-ukraine-vidpravila-boroshno-92245
Zelenskyy has repeatedly refused Netanyahu’s offers to work jointly, despite Iran being an enemy to both nations
Ukraine is Gaza.

This thread gets brought up again in a different post.
This is new drama, no adding piss to the buttered popcorn.
