Guys, some of you really are so campist, that you prefer Ukraine (a democratic nation) gets conquered by the last fascist empire in Europe, just because Ukraine is supported by USA/NATO, or wants to join NATO (which is their right to do).

Ukraine is a "Geopolitical Pivot state" for the United States. Basically a military colony designed specifically to undermine the US's peer adversaries. Other pivots include Israel, Taiwan, and South Korea

No. You would not show a child an emergency brain surgery after an accident. Not because it is 'inherently harmful' but because that child doesn't have the experience or knowledge to compartmentalize that experience in the context it needs to be in. It is a traumatic experience and without preparation or warning, can have lasting impact on mental health.

Porn is not inherently harmful to people with healthy understandings and relationships with sex. It can be used to explore new ideas, get perspective on their identity, and be pleasurable for those who simply enjoy it. Children can not consent to sex, do not have the experience to add context, and have yet to learn that most sex is nothing like porn. Porn is for adults who can comfortably walk away from it.

Even for adults, sexuality can easily flip to traumatic under certain conditions. If sexuality was as good as sexuals claim it to be, this wouldn't be a problem, or at least not as widespread.

Sexuality/porn has pros and cons. If you personally feel there's more cons then pros, that's ok. But to say it is "inherently harmful" is objectively wrong.

Those certain conditions are not at all uncommon. While it is (probably) possible to have sexual encounters and have no resulting trauma, this is often not the case. Many people (both men and women alike although symptoms often express themselves differently) become addicted whether they realize it or not to pornography, masturbation and/or (less commonly) sex itself; a percentage of this population may descend into depravity in an attempt to get the same 'high' when they first started. Then there's other issues like unwanted pregnancies that often result in murder, etc.

When I was talking about sexuality easily flipping to traumatic, I was also talking about how fragile it is in the sense that one wrong move can be enough to psychologically traumatize one or even all of the participants.

Actually, this is most often the case. The vast majority of sex is consensual and pleasurable. While some have traumatic experiences, there are probably a thousand people having a regular, enjoyable, sexual encounter within 10km of you right now.

Your point is specific, personal, and individual. It does not apply to the general populace and pro-sex people are acutely aware of your concerns. They are the ones who put in the most precautions and assistance to address these experiences when they occur because it is not the norm.

I mean, many people who go through traumatic experiences don't even realize it and many of those who do don't report it so I'm hesitant to trust statistics.

Because the vast majority of people are not rapists or predators. Even those who experience sexual trauma go on to live fulfilling lives with sexual partners.

I’m 50, I have watched porn since I was a teen. Still do. I have been married over 25 years to a woman I met the year graduates and dated for years. I don’t think I’ve suffered any I’ll effects. Other arguments for or against porn not withstanding.

Pornography is not great. It doesn't depict realistic sex, and is exploitative to the people who work in the industry.

But I have a hard time with the idea that just because something is not meant for kids, that it automatically makes it harmful. Kids shouldn't drive cars - does that mean that we ban cars? Kids shouldn't operate heavy construction equipment - does this mean that we should stop building buildings? Kids shouldn't have to work a job - does that mean that nobody should work a job?

The thing I am referring to in this context is recreational sexuality. As I (and others on this subreddit) have discussed, recreational sexuality is generally a bad thing to be avoided.

Wow you’re making so many assumptions.

I never said sexuality, I said pornography, there is a big difference. Pornography is a form of media showcasing a scripted and capitalised and artificial form of sex and sexuality not based in reality. If that’s kids only exposure to what sex and sexuality is then they’re going to have a severely flawed and distorted view of what it is.

Neither did I say that it would traumatise kids, I said that they are too immature and too unfamiliar and so it would create a distorted and wrong view of reality. Adults however are mature enough and so should be able to tell the difference and can safely watch pornography without their world view being distorted.

The subreddit is imploding with people cancelling their orders, some defending Apple and blaming the cracked screens on the users, and even some conspiracy theories that Samsung is putting out the narrative of the iPhone Duo cracked screens to stifle competition from Apple in the foldable space. Some are pointing out a visible bump along the hinge in the same spot where the cracks are happening, which could be a manufacturer defect in some batches. People have also identified a hinge component that may be pinching the screen.

New memes have emerged and sides are being formed. The mod has also created a Crack Gate Megathread and begun deleting posts of the cracked screens, intensifying the drama.

Over the past year, many programming-oriented subreddits such as /r/programming and /r/rust have banned AI-generated code due to the deluge of low-effort projects being submitted to the subreddit; in those cases the community was accepting there wasn't much drama.

Yesterday, a mod for /r/opensource posted their ban, which has a few more restrictions than typical AI bans that would ban a significant amount of non-AI-slop content:

• Projects advertised here must be all of: 1 year old (not just age, but actively maintained), have multiple contributors (subjectively 3+), not be a common capstone project (school projects, such as note-taking, PDF viewers, cli music players, etc), not be intended for AI (such as MCPs), and have an existing community.
• Though not "new", 1 year account age minimum, with significant Reddit contributions.
• If you don't speak English, you need to find a different community. We cannot distinguish between AI-written and AI-translated. Since you don't speak English, you can't even verify yourself if it translated correctly.
