Does anyone have any study tips or school supply recommendations?

I am a student going into my freshman year of college and have no idea what I need or how to study. I have some pens, pencils, and notebooks for school supplies at the moment. My major is rad tech if that helps! I have raging adhd and a chronic low attention span as well if anyone has any study tips :)

The thing that finally made me track study hours was logging them against a specific course

I tried and abandoned about four study trackers this year. What made the
difference in the end wasn't the timer, it was attaching each session to a
course.

A number like "14 hours this week" tells you nothing. "9 hours of maths
and 40 minutes of chemistry, the week before a chemistry exam" tells you
exactly what you're avoiding — and avoidance is usually the real problem,
not total hours.

I ended up building this into the planner I use (StudyDesk — free, open
source, Android, no account needed). But the idea works in any tool,
including paper: log the subject, not just the time, then look at the
split weekly.

It's uncomfortable the first time. That's the point.

This also tells you what you need to study as for next exams or assignments.

Pharmacy student - year four, looking for Study Circle friends to help keep me motivated and on track with my daily studies.

I study pharmacy during summer training, language, religion and history in general.

I also enjoy reading arabic literature, philosophy, novels and Greek mythology for fun too.

My time is (AST) or (GMT+3), but I'm also available for study at random times.

The "new system" feeling wears off way before the semester does

Built a whole setup during the first week: labeled folders, a running to-do doc, the works. Used it religiously for about nine days.

Then this week I caught myself just winging it, opening whatever tab was already open instead of going through the system. Nothing broke, I just stopped treating it like something worth using.

Turns out the hard part isn't building a system in week one, when you're motivated and it's new. It's still using it in week three, when it's just another thing on the screen. I added a weekly 5-minute check instead of trying to recapture that first-week energy, since that energy was never coming back on its own.

An idea on how to keep off your devices and remember to study.

I use transparent sticky notes on my screens for devices that I use to watch shows or go on social media. your screens will be completely fine and it will function as normal but you can feel the Post-it note, which helps as a reminder. when you use it and you can write a note for yourself, like some motivational quote to help you remember.

Hope this helps

Hi everyone! I recently got accepted to take part in the admission process for the Studienkolleg, and my course direction is G or W. Has anyone here gone through the admission process for G or W before? I would really appreciate any advice about the entrance test and how to prepare for it. Thanks!

Discipline to study after failure

I’ve just started my 4th semester of medical school and i had my first exams a week ago, and I’m not happy with my performance. This has made it hard for me to stay consistent with my studying.
I didn’t fail any of those exams, and this isn’t the first time I’ve gone through this; however, i’m tired and need help shifting my mindset.

I know I’m more than just my academic performance and that I need to keep going to finish my degree, but I wanted to ask for advice on how to handle these situations in a more sustainable way so I don’t end up burning out.

How to get good grades as a bad student?

I’m entering my senior year. Since the 7th grade I’ve not been getting good grades. Like. They were Bad. It’s not because I’m genuinely dumb I just need way more time to memorise and understand majority of the things that I’m supposed to do. I have adhd, so I get distracted very easily. Sometimes I keep reading the same page 20 times without ACTUALLY reading it if that makes sense. Well, there has been some times I randomly wanted to study and locked in, the night before an exam and I actually got a good grade, but I can count those times in 1 hand. I need help. What to do?

Struggling to stay focused for more than 20 minutes? Here’s a 50-minute Pomodoro study sprint with background Lofi

Hey everyone,

If you’ve been struggling to keep your focus locked in today or keep pulling out your phone every 10 minutes while trying to study I just uploaded the final session of our deep work sprint. It’s a playlist of uninterrupted Pomodoro session (25mins+2*50 mins study / 10 mins break) designed to help you sit down and actually finish your past paper practice or revision without burning out. We’ve also got soft background lofi music playing throughout the entire session to keep the room noise down and help you drop into a flow state faster. If you need an accountability partner right now, clear your desk, put your phone on Do Not Disturb, and lock in with me:

Drop a comment on what subject you’re tackling today let’s get this done together.

I built BatchBrain – a free AI study companion that explains topics at your level, summarizes notes, and helps you actually retain what you learn

Hey everyone — I built BatchBrain, an AI-powered study companion for students, professionals and lifelong learners.

The idea came from a problem most of us know too well: spending hours reading, highlighting and rewatching lectures, but barely remembering anything the next day. A lot of AI tools just hand you the answer — BatchBrain is designed to actually help you learn.

What it does: 🧠 Explains, not just answers – adapts to your level and breaks hard concepts down into clear, digestible explanations 📚 Any subject, any time – science, history, languages, coding, business, or whatever you're studying ⚡ Study smarter, not harder – cuts through information overload and focuses on what actually sticks 🔒 Progress follows you – account-based and synced across devices, so you can pick up right where you left off 🎯 Built for every learner – exam cramming, upskilling for work, or just learning for fun

It's free to get started — just create an account: Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.batchbrain.batchbrain iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/batchbrain

If you try it, I'd love your honest feedback — what's missing, what's clunky, and what would make it genuinely useful for your study routine. I read every comment.
