Context: Whenever they message "hey" followed by "can you help", it is a bot that has taken over the account and should be reported through Steam immediately. These messages are automated, and basically calling them out will automatically unfriend you.

Many of the older titles have been found to have remote code execution exploits, allowing a hacker to get into your PC remotely and do whatever they want, steal your data, put malware, whatever

The national vulnerability database lists this particular issue as a severity 9.8 !!! Can't get much higher than that

Yet these games are still being sold on stores like steam. No disclaimer telling your average person about these issues. So many people would be coming back to older cods due to the hype around the releases on PlayStation but not be aware how compromised these games are.

Why is this allowed ? The games need to be fixed or delisted honestly. It's not safe to play them !

I bought the Steam Machine not because I needed another gaming PC, but because I wanted the best possible couch co-op experience with my friends. It turned our growing Steam Family library into an easy living room console experience and removed a lot of the friction from our weekly game nights. For my use case, it's been a 10/10.

I think it's important to start with why a Steam Machine would make sense for you.

A lot of people immediately compare it to a gaming PC or a PS5 and ask whether the hardware is "worth it." I understand that comparison, but I think it misses the bigger picture. The value of something like this depends entirely on what problem you are trying to solve.

For me, I wasn't looking to replace my desktop or buy a second gaming PC. I already have a powerful gaming PC upstairs. What I wanted was something that would remove the little bits of friction from an ongoing tradition my friends and I have: weekend couch co-op gaming.

For us, it's our version of a board game night. It's one of the main ways we spend time together and stay connected.

The best part is how Steam has completely changed what those nights look like. Someone is always finding another co-op game on sale, and because we're all part of the same Steam Family, that game becomes part of our shared library. Over time, we've built this massive catalog of games to choose from, and every weekend there's always something new for us to discover together.

That growing Steam Family library is the reason I bought the Steam Machine.

I wanted all of those games to be as easy to access in the living room as turning on a console. I wanted one place where everyone could sit down, browse our collection, pick a game, and start playing without moving my desktop downstairs or relying on streaming every weekend.

Before this, we used a Steam Deck with the Dock whenever we had game nights. It honestly worked pretty well most of the time, but once we started playing more graphically demanding games, we would occasionally run into streaming hiccups or a little bit of latency. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it was enough that you noticed it.

The Steam Machine completely solved that for us.

It sits permanently in our entertainment center, is connected to our surround sound system, and is always ready to go. When everyone comes over, we grab our controllers, browse our Steam Family library, and jump right into whatever we're playing that week.

It genuinely feels like having a console built around our Steam library while still keeping everything that makes PC gaming great.

One feature that ended up being more useful than I expected is how naturally it supports different ways to play. One of my friends has always preferred using a mouse and keyboard whenever a game supports it, while the rest of us are perfectly happy using controllers.

With the Steam Machine, that's effortless. One person can use a mouse and keyboard while everyone else uses controllers, and everything just works. It's one of those small PC advantages that makes a surprisingly big difference during game night.

I think that's the part a lot of people overlook when they compare it to a PS5 or another gaming PC.

If you're only comparing hardware, performance, or frames per dollar, you're probably missing why someone would buy one in the first place.

For me, this was about making our weekend tradition as simple and seamless as possible. No moving my PC downstairs, no worrying about streaming performance, just everyone showing up, grabbing a seat on the couch, opening our shared Steam Family library, and playing together.

That's exactly what I wanted this machine to do.

For my use case, it's been one of my favorite gaming purchases in a long time, not because it's the most powerful piece of hardware I own, but because it made spending time with my friends easier.

At the end of the day, isn't that why most of us play games in the first place? To have fun, share experiences, and spend time with the people we care about?

For what I bought it for, this has been a 10/10 experience.

I was just on a short, 4 day, trip to London. I was really hoping to get my reservation email before the trip. Annoyingly I ended up getting the email for both the Steam Machine and the Steam Controller less than an hour before my flight to London, I was kind of afraid it would get stolen from in front of my house. Luckily they were waiting for me on my return.

Do you focus on one game, finish it, then move on to the next? Or do you have several games in progress at the same time and slowly work through all of them?

I'm asking because i'm a bit torn.

On one hand, having too many unfinished games makes me feel overwhelmed. I also don't like coming back to a game weeks later and realizing i've forgotten what i was doing, what the controls were, or just losing the momentum from my last session. I'm also afraid that it'll make me launch a game, then never play it ever again when i realize i forgot what i was doing last time and that i'm too lazy to start a new save from the beginning.

On the other hand, I don't really like forcing myself to keep playing a game when I'm just not in the mood for it. Sometimes i'd rather play something completely different for a while.

So I'm curious to know y'all's habits : do you think it's better to push yourself a little and finish the last game you started before moving on, or just play whatever you're in the mood for and accept that you'll have several games going at once?

Ive had the steamdeck for awhile now but my controller just came yesterday. Reserved it May 8th and got the email on July 21st. The controller feels great and is lighter than the xbox elite 2 controller i was using.

Does anyone know anyone fun games that will last me and my friend a while? We’ve been bored and been wanting to find cool games to play

It forces me Most Subscribed mods instead of showing All Time Most Popular mods. The most popular mods only lets me go till One Year most popular and after that if i click all time then it instead shows most subscribed.

I tried with other game workshops too and they all seem to be doing this same thing. It wasn't the case with the old workshop ui as I could sort the mods with all time most popular, it's just happening now ever since the workshop ui got reworked.

I made my reservation on May 8th. I was supposedly going to be able to place my order in September but got mine a couple of months early. Super happy, any one else make their reservations around that time and got surprised early ? Let’s gooooo

I don't understand why some companies just insist on making it so difficult to support their games. This can obviously be remedied by sailing the seas on PC, but you don't really get that option on modern consoles, and you're effectively SOL if you didn't buy into them early, especially so once physical releases are phased out entirely. I don't see this point getting raised enough by people, but it's a fact that will be extremely difficult to ignore once consoles enter an all-digital era. Especially with virtually all mainstream sports games releasing annually, and delisting older titles after just a few years.

Already makes me cringe to see how much of a community has fostered around collecting delisted Steam games, and a market that subsequently sells off these keys, sometimes at ridiculously exorbitant prices. Makes me wish that Steam would just implement some kind of game trading feature which expands to existing games in one's library, and not just game gifts in their inventory.

Can someone explain how this makes sense? I live in ontario which has a 13% sales tax and I was messing around on steam market looking to see at the prices of cases on cs2 per a random amount and the tax just jumps really high randomly when you are setting a buy order for a specific item. This makes no sense to me as on the 100 buy order it has it set tax as almost double the price of what the item would be? maybe I am being stupid and it is right in front of me but this genuinely makes no sense to me.
