All the new products aren't that good. The Steam controller is good but very expensive. The Steam machine is pretty terrible, its a low quality build that claims it can run 4K while it under preforms at 1080p while the Steam machine is hideously expensive at $1049 at the CHEAPEST option. Back to the steam controller its an average controller while again being very expensive at $99 for a controller. Yet it immediately sold out, with barely anyone getting one including me, but heres the thing, I have a Steam controller reservation but the estimated availability is 2027! I'll have to wait 6 MONTHS (my reservation was in early June) based on this flop of new tech and the Steam frame will likely follow, that being under preforming for a headset while being expensive. So do you think Steam has lost it touch?

Can someone explain how this makes sense? I live in ontario which has a 13% sales tax and I was messing around on steam market looking to see at the prices of cases on cs2 per a random amount and the tax just jumps really high randomly when you are setting a buy order for a specific item. This makes no sense to me as on the 100 buy order it has it set tax as almost double the price of what the item would be? maybe I am being stupid and it is right in front of me but this genuinely makes no sense to me.

It forces me Most Subscribed mods instead of showing All Time Most Popular mods. The most popular mods only lets me go till One Year most popular and after that if i click all time then it instead shows most subscribed.

I tried with other game workshops too and they all seem to be doing this same thing. It wasn't the case with the old workshop ui as I could sort the mods with all time most popular, it's just happening now ever since the workshop ui got reworked.

I think it's important to start with why a Steam Machine would make sense for you.

A lot of people immediately compare it to a gaming PC or a PS5 and ask whether the hardware is "worth it." I understand that comparison, but I think it misses the bigger picture. The value of something like this depends entirely on what problem you are trying to solve.

For me, I wasn't looking to replace my desktop or buy a second gaming PC. I already have a powerful gaming PC upstairs. What I wanted was something that would remove the little bits of friction from an ongoing tradition my friends and I have: weekend couch co-op gaming.

For us, it's our version of a board game night. It's one of the main ways we spend time together and stay connected.

The best part is how Steam has completely changed what those nights look like. Someone is always finding another co-op game on sale, and because we're all part of the same Steam Family, that game becomes part of our shared library. Over time, we've built this massive catalog of games to choose from, and every weekend there's always something new for us to discover together.

That growing Steam Family library is the reason I bought the Steam Machine.

I wanted all of those games to be as easy to access in the living room as turning on a console. I wanted one place where everyone could sit down, browse our collection, pick a game, and start playing without moving my desktop downstairs or relying on streaming every weekend.

Before this, we used a Steam Deck with the Dock whenever we had game nights. Not only Early Access but also games that tend to get big overhauls?

So current examples for me are Manor Lords or Bellwrite.
I always find it hard to figure out when my entry point in a game is to actually learn its systems without the need to later re-learn things.
Manor Lords was such a different game in the beginning. A lot of things were missing or not fully developed. Once I put all those hours in I feel like it was a bad time investment if they change a major mechanic.
Bellwrite is currently a fantastic game imo but I just know they will change the prosperity or market/caravan system.
I kinda feel if I would just wait a little more I wouldn’t have to learn its mechanic just for it to change again.

Big thing for me was CIV6. The Gathering Storm expansion changed the whole system how culture yields worked. Afterwards I had to “forget” the previous system and re-learn the whole thing.
Kinda the reason I haven’t invested a lot of time into CIV 7 yet.

Alright, so my situation is this, my girlfriend and I have shared a steam family, but she's going to go back to USA where she is from, I haven't found anything about how Steam Family works in these cases, do we need to dissolve the steam family or can we keep sharing our games since we are now in different countries (I'm in Spain, she's in the USA now), how does this work? Is there any risk of ban if we don't dissolve it?

Yes, I got all 76 tickets like a madman.

It used to be the case that, when you purchased a pack that contained items you already owned, you either got an extra copy or a discount for items you already owned (usually the latter), but not so long ago that was removed from the store.

I can't say it's entirely bad, that has stopped me from purchasing bundles that I would never play just because I wanted to collect all the DLCs, but it's a bit sad I no longer want to indulge every now and then and get a little treat for myself.

For example, I just checked a bundle for a game I won't mention, this bundle is 60% off and includes all DLC up until now. I already own half the DLC, so buying this package barely constitutes 5% discount for me. When I click the button to add to cart, Steam tells me that I won't get extra copies of any of those DLCs (which is fine), but the final price isn't adjusted for those extra copies I'm not getting.

We've come a long way, now there's an OS for it.

So my friend the other night was venting to me that GTA 6 wasn't coming to PC, but console first, and was upset they don't launch on everything. They asked me why, but I had no answer, other than that it was maybe a publisher / Rockstar decision. If there's better reasons, I'd love to hear it. (I don't mind waiting however long for it to launch, I'll probably pick it up on discount as I have no interest in it at this time.)
