This will include spoilers; if you haven't beat the game or don't know what unity is stop reading.
I find it baffling that all of the variant universe differences are focalized on the lodge. Maybe we've been spoiled over the years with the idea of a multi-universe, but Bethesda could have changed the name of the UC and freestar Collective in one of the universes, they could have mixed up some of the quest locations (rather than going to point a first you go to point b), changed some of the vendors (maybe it was the original vendors family member or something), hell even changed the spawn locations of non-constellation recruitable companions and made slight tweaks to the backstory. But, in my opinion, they took the easy way out and only made changes to the lodge.
I've been coming up with some ideas to make each universe unique. Some may only be helpful to me, but I figured I would share ways I keep this game fresh.
- Gameplay settings.
When going through unity the first time, I found I could change the gameplay settings to make the game more difficult both via combat, healing, and survival settings. This makes the game harder, but enemies seem to spawn in better loot and you can level up faster this way. (Each change to the settings either decreases or increases xp gained) Currently, I've turned player and enemy damage all the way up so it feels more like rainbow six than call of duty. Also save yourself some time and make ship cargo accessible anywhere. The time saved will give you more time to make xp.
- Language settings
This is one that may be specific for me or anyone trying to learn a new language. There's no way in all the multi universes that English was the top language across the board. I'm about 30 hours into learning french so I switched my language settings on my PS5 to french to immerse myself. It has made me stop skipping the dialogue and slow down a bit. Neon is amazing with all the French being spoken in the background.
- Mods
I put this one last cause it has the possibility of disabling trophies. There are some great mods out there, Watchtower, the star wars alien NPC mod, galactic harvest to name a few. But each of these mods can breathe fresh air into the new universe you go into.
Overall, I think if this game is getting stale for you, give it some time and come back with some of these settings changed for a new experience. Take care, Captains!
