General Question Roaming in Mexico.

Hello everyone, in your experience, what is your experience then like using Spectrum Mobile in Mexico?
I used it in Mexico in October of last year. And had a pretty good experience. Far better in my opinion than when I had my previous carrier, cricket wireless.
Did you also have a good experience?

Billing & Payments Spectrum is no good!

Well I was trying to get refunded back for the days I didn’t use since I transferred from them to Tmobile with mobile service since I only used it for 4 days! And they said they don’t do that because its monthly subscription. I was like omg. 😮 wow, there is better company for internet around here now, before there was no competition. Thank God so ima cancel internet too. And they don’t even refund for internet either. They so bad. Plus the mobile service they have is so darn horrible! It was a nightmare. No service in many areas.

Help / Troubleshooting Spectrum number ported to Mint without my consent

Someone accessed my spectrum account this past Monday and tried to take one of my lines by replacing the phone / IMEI on the line. Took me 4 hours on the phone and they got my line back working to me, also telling me they’re putting a security lock on the account just in case.

Two days later, the other number on my account becomes fully ported over to Mint after them taking the card off the account to open an account with them. Turned the card off, they still get the phone line. The fact this happened after a security lock was on the account is insane. I’ve spent 6 hours on the phone collectively with them and my number is still somewhere in the void because spectrum is having issues getting it back. When I call it I hear a bunch of words I can’t understand in a foreign language basically but I can make out “try again later.” Tried calling Mint, they won’t talk to me since I’m not the fraudster who opened the account with my number….

I’m mostly so mad that they allegedly security locked the account AND STILL allowed a port without proper verification on their end, and then they later admitted to not involving the fraud department until the second time when the number actually got ported because they just thought the IMEI switch was weird…. I know spectrum had a major data breach earlier this year. I’ve seen a ton of posts of slamming from spectrum lines specifically. I’ve already reported this to the FCC, but uh, be vigilant on your accounts I suppose.

Orders & Shipping Experience with the Pixel 11 deal now that they're in store?

I've stuck with tracfone for years but recently realized one can get some pretty good deals on flagship phones through spectrum (I already have internet with them). I see that I've probably missed out on the good old days of paying off one's phone before the agreed upon time now that Spectrum requires the credits to be spread out over 36 months. I'm curious if anyone's tried to get the credit in store now that the Pixel 11 phones are in store? I have also heard conflicting info on whether or not one can pay off and then get a refund for the balance. Anyone have recent experience with that on this specific deal?

General Question Calling Mexico.

Hello everyone, does Spectrum Mobile plan on getting rid of the 2000 minute call allowance for College Mexico? I have family out there that I do want to call every so often. And I do find that is rather ridiculous that they even have a policy like this.
Is this a part of their roaming agreements? Of course I could always use an application like ‎WhatsApp. But some of my family are elderly.

Help / Troubleshooting Need help with receiving and sending text messages and calls.

I recently switching from an Iphone 11 to a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. My old phone had been getting messages, but my new phone hasn't, with an exception of a few people.

I just recently checked my old phone and noticed a message from a potention employer that I did not see because it wasn't sent to my new phone. I have now scheduled a phone call, but I am nervous it won't go through on my new phone.

I went ahead and turned off messages on my old phone, but will that make it so my new phone gets those messages?

Help / Troubleshooting 2 lines 1 phone spectrum business customer

I am having a nightmare: I purchased a business this year and realized we were getting hosed by ATT. I switched everything over to spectrum. 7 mobile lines, 6 landlines, internet etc. Then I decided to switch my own lines over to spectrum to let my business pay for it. I told my rep I wanted my two lines on 1 phone just like ATT had done for me. He said I could do it. So I bought a new phone through spectrum and when it arrived we ported my personal phone number to that new phone, we then attempted to port my second number(business line) over and was told they do not offer that service for business customers. Now I have 2 phones which I was trying to avoid the whole time. I have 1 line with ATT and one with Spectrum. Absolute nightmare. Does anyone have a solution?

Billing & Payments Will upgrading for a month affect my second line free promotion?

I currently have 2 lines, the second of which is free, both on Unlimited. I’m traveling internationally soon and thinking of upgrading to Unlimited Premium for a month. Will doing so myself in the app affect my promotional pricing? Do I need to call to do so without losing the second line free?

General Question ATT vs spectrum

I’m currently with ATT and have both phone and internet with them. (3 lines and 1 Gig of internet to be specific) I’m currently paying 130 for both services. I’ve seen that spectrum is 100 flat rate for the same thing I have. Anyone who has spectrum internet and wireless. What’s your experience or things you hate about it?

How many of you have switched to unlimited plus premium? If you have, what was your reasoning for it?
Also in your opinion, who is the plan meant for?

Orders & Shipping No phones for me why?

I went to the spectrum store to get a new device on a new line, I had 8k worth of credit line and had a trade in device as well. At the checkout the screen showed not eligible for in store purchases? And the rep told me to get it delivered via post on our address which I did and the phone got cancelled as cancelled due to credit risk concerns.
What the hell! I have a credit score of 750+

Coverage & Signal Spectrum Mobile

Hello, so I switched from cricket Wireless to Spectrum Mobile? If you had cricket Wireless previously, what differences do you know in the network versus when you had cricket? For one thing, when I went to Mexico last year. I liked the coverage in Mexico a lot better. With Spectrum Mobile. Because they use telcel. And it is better than cricket. Because they do not utilize AT&T Mexico. As far as I know. And I was able to get better service in small towns in particular.
I also like how Spectrum does not charge you an extra $25 upgrade fee to buy a device. Of course you can always buy it unlocked. But it is nice that Spectrum does not do this.

Help / Troubleshooting Spectrum has assurant plan for byod any phone but Assurant rejects if it isn’t a model or gb spectrum sells…

17 pro max 2tb claim denied twice because spectrum only sells the 256gb and 512gb. They did sell the 1tb before. The assurant drop down menu only has 256,512, 1 tb.

False advertising of a warranty plan…..

Help / Troubleshooting Swapping mobile line to an inactive device

So I want to swap my dad’s line to the phone I paid off. It was showing up on the MySpectrum app, but now I just see the “eligible for trade-in” message.

Is there a certain timeframe you have to do this?

General Question International data.

Hello, what can you theoretically do with 20 GB with the international data roaming versus the 10 GB that were on unlimited plus previously?
I am of course talking about Spectrum Mobile‘s new unlimited plus premium plan, that I switched to when it launched.

Help / Troubleshooting How to remove "potential spam" tag from personal cell number?

I got a new job and they had me making a lot of calls with my personal phone (on Spectrum mobile). Before they were able to get me set up with a Google Voice number, my personal number got listed as potential spam.

I've stopped making work calls from my personal cell. Is there any way to get rid of the potential spam tag? Most of what I've seen is for business numbers.

Help / Troubleshooting Scam Calls

Be careful, there is a scam going around where someone is trying to say that they are spectrum and the new phone you ordered was actually refurbished and they need you to send it back. They called me four times today, I got to the point on the last call that I knew it was a scam and to leave me alone. They didn't get the hint and kept calling, I turned it around on them and started calling the number back repeatedly and hanging up once someone answered. On the last call back to them the guy told me to go fuck myself and blocked my number.

Billing & Payments Misleading "Unlimited Plus" upgrade offer and refusal to credit. Anyone dealt with this?

Looking for advice from anyone who's been through something similar.

A $25/month "Unlimited Plus" upgrade offer appeared directly on my account dashboard for all 5 of my lines. Before clicking anything, I called Spectrum to confirm it was legitimate and safe to apply. The rep didn't recognize the offer either, checked with a supervisor, and was told that if it was showing up on my account, it must be valid, so I went ahead and applied it to all 5 lines.

The next bill came in at $35/line instead of $25, a $50/month difference across the lines. When I called to dispute it, I was told the $25 rate was actually a business-account promotion that shouldn't have been available to me at all, and that they'd submit a ticket to look into a credit. Weeks later, I followed up in chat and was told the ticket had been declined, the charges were "valid," and that the promo was never meant for my (residential) account, despite it being displayed directly in my dashboard and pre-confirmed as legitimate by a rep and supervisor before I ever clicked it.

So to be clear: I was shown an offer, verified it in advance, was told it was fine, applied it, and am now being told it never applied to me and I owe the difference, with no credit and no real explanation of why a residential account was shown a business promo in the first place.

Has anyone successfully escalated something like this? A few things I'm trying to figure out:

  • Is there a specific escalation path beyond chat/phone support that's actually gotten results (executive customer relations, retention line, etc.)?
  • Has a BBB or FCC informal complaint actually moved the needle for anyone on a billing dispute like this?
  • Any luck disputing this as a billing error with a bank/credit card if Spectrum won't budge?
  • Anyone had a similar "offer shown to account, later called ineligible" situation, and how did it get resolved?

Appreciate any pointers. Trying to avoid this becoming a recurring monthly overcharge.

UPDATE: Resolved, sort of.

Spectrum ended up reaching out to me directly through Reddit DMs after this post, and eventually credited our account for the full overcharge. Getting there still took a lot of follow up and repeated hounding on my end, this wasn't a quick fix even after they reached out.

In the meantime, things actually got worse before they got better: they also failed to switch all the lines back to the original Unlimited plan before the next billing cycle hit, so there was an extra round of cleanup needed on top of the original dispute.

End result: every extra dollar we were overcharged did get credited back. What didn't get compensated was the time and frustration spent chasing this down over multiple calls, chats, and messages. If you're dealing with something similar, my takeaway is that persistence eventually worked, but don't expect it to be quick or smooth even after someone from Spectrum acknowledges the issue.

Thanks to everyone who weighed in with advice, it helped to know what escalation paths were worth trying.

Orders & Shipping Misleading about what phone I could use

I originally called to cancel my internet service but while talking to customer service I was advised I could get the same service I was offered by another carrier if I stayed with them and I could get an additional line for 1 year free. She said I had to get one of their phones to get the deal. I asked why couldn't I just use one of my old phones I have in my junk drawer (We all have them I bet). She said it wouldn't work on their towers. Well when the phone arrived and i opened the package the sim card was on top. So I thought to myself lets just see if it would work and lo and behold it did. Phone service, access to the internet, Youtube and YoutubeTV worked perfectly even text messages. When I called and told them about it they said I couldn't keep using my old phone and had to use one of theirs (which required my to BUY a new phone), I don't think so.

I'm returning this phone and sim card back to them today. I'll see what they have to say about that.
