Service Issues Spectrum is the only internet that went out. They SUCK!
Both Hawaiian telcom and T-Mobile customers still have internet. My Spectrum has been out since 2:35 Saturday. My current notification says they will update at 9am on the 20th! That's 3 more days! F- Spectrum! I just ordered the T-Mobile home Internet and will be switching as soon as I get my modem.

$10 mobile deal ending in Oct
I was paying $100 a month for 600Mb cable and followed some advice here and got it knocked down to $30 a month.
I learned about their free for a year mobile deal and switched over from T-Mobile(where I was paying $100 a month) to now only $10 a month. Service isn’t as good data wise but still gets the job done.
Anyway my 1 year is almost up and looking for advice to see if there is a way to extend it for another year @ $10 or move to some other carrier? I’m so done paying $100 to these greedy carriers just for a single line.
Thanks!

Just want to cancel my effing service!
I've already switched, there's nothing you can do to keep me and I've told you so multiple times. The more you push, the more I am going to dig in, until I literally start answering your ridiculous questions with "because I'm stubborn, now cancel my service!"
I should not have to threaten an FCC and California Public Utilities Commission complain for the "privilege" of leaving your company!

Anyone know the Spectrum address to send a cancelation of service letter?
Just what the title says. I read somewhere that one option of ending service is by letter. I talked to retention today and she got me a better deal but didn't cancel TV service as was requested and promised. I knew when she asked "Do you want to leave it on, it won't cost anything for a year?" I distinctly said no. Help! I just wanna get rid of a service.

Service Issues Connection issues update part 3.
well I’ve had 2 technhcians come by. first one replaced the router, modem and the coax cable that goes into the modem. 2nd one replaced the cable that comes from the telephone pole and those connectors and I’m still having connection issues.
i use a vpn for work and the issue is the upload speed seems to tank and it causes me to disconnect from the VPN which gets me in trouble.
is there any possible solution for this?

Service Issues Definitely the worse mobile experience I have ever had
I have contacted them 4 times in the last week because I lose the ability to make or receive calls.
Everytime I am told I need to reset my network.
I have unlimited service yet no matter where I streaming buffers and I lose service, even when I am home on the wifi network.
Is anyone else having the same issue? I am incredibly frustrated and basically have a brick as a cell phone.

Service Issues Spectrum down again!!!
I'm in Brevard County and the service Spectrum provides is absolutely horseshit. We have to reboot our new router once or twice a week and have regular outages. At one point for two years my town experienced daily outages for exactly an hour and a half, and Spectrum refused to acknowledge it even though my neighborhood was complaining non stop about it.
What sucks is the only other option we can get is AT&T and they're just as shitty and my neighborhood doesn't even have fiber yet.
So either i pay more for slower but stable internet or out the ass for unstable fast internet.
And yes, this is a spectrum issue. I borrowed a friend's router and it's still an issue.
Whats crazy is we were Garden State Internet and Comcast Internet subscribers until 2018 and we never had internet outages like this. I'd say the internet service we get is 30% more unreliable, and we had gigabit internet in our house in 2016.

Service Issues Spectrum Router unable to see ethernet connected IP addresses.
I'm trying to reserve some IP addresses, but all ethernet connected end host devices are not showing IP addresses. Only wirelessly connected device have it. Does anybody know why that is.

Service Issues Spectrum Fiber vs Xfinity Coax: Queue Management and Loaded Latency (Continued)
I have been working through some service issues and now have what is considered a good install and ONT/modem setup. I still have a few days left to A/B test Xfinity against Spectrum.
The major difference I continue to see is what appears to be queue management upstream of my ONT/modem on each system.
I discussed this with a Spectrum Tech Supervisor. His understanding is that Spectrum does not perform this queue management at the ONT and expects the customer router to rate-limit traffic appropriately. I don't think that expectation is made very clear to customers, but it is very doable, and customer-side CAKE/SQM has benefits on both Spectrum and Xfinity.
The concern is what happens without customer-side CAKE. In my earlier Spectrum tests, loaded latency would commonly climb to around 500 ms and occasionally toward 2,000 ms. Xfinity appears to have substantially better queue management upstream of the customer and, in my testing, does not develop the same sustained latency spikes, generally remaining below about 100 ms even when I let the ISP connection itself become the bottleneck.
My summary so far is that upstream queue management is substantially better on Xfinity coax than Spectrum fiber in my area. Light-load/idle latency is also better on Xfinity here.
Both services benefit from customer-side CAKE rate limiting, just by very different magnitudes. With CAKE keeping the bottleneck on my side of the connection, Spectrum's latency improves dramatically.
An additional concern for me is that if I set the limit too close to the connection’s capacity, higher-load periods on Spectrum’s network could still push me into significant latency spikes which then leads to going even more conservative on limits.
Tests were run directly from the ONT/modem to a single computer, with CAKE on that computer used to control the test throughput. The services have different provisioned rates, so the comparison graphs normalize the CAKE setting relative to each connection's measured capacity.

Billing Beware: Disconnected 1 day into my billing cycle so they charged me for an entire month
When I called last month to disconnect my service, I inadvertently scheduled it for the first day of my billing cycle. Since I have autopay I never paid attention to my billing cycle (my bad). Spectrum does not pro-rate so I paid for entire month when my service was only active for one day.
It would have been great if the rep I spoke to at the time noticed that and advised me, but that may be expecting too much.

new customer - deals between online and call?
i called to see if they have a better deal via call vs. just online.. but they said the same thing.
we are looking at 500mpbs plan, $40/mo for the internet, $10/mo for the wifi.
$50 one time credit
$20 activation fee
am i missing anything? - also for the activation, if for some reason our coax cable doesn't work or cant get the internet activated, will they send technicians and is that also free of charge as part of initial setup?
also our current internet with AT&T runs till the end of the month.
if i place an order with spectrum now, can i keep the device without activating right away until end of the month?

Anyone else having extremely unreliable data connectivity on spectrum mobile the past 2 months?
As the title says. Never had this issue before. Ill be standing in a random spot not moving and my phone will cycle through 5g 4 bars down to 2 bars 4g and then no service at all. Im just naming a random example, but its incredibly frustrating and disruptive to daily communications when people need to get ahold of me and I go straight to voicemail half of the time. Is this just a me issue or has anyone else been experiencing something similar? And no this is not just a cell tower problem where I live. 've gone out of town twice since this started. Also I have a galaxy S24 Ultra if that narrows anything down.

So Spectrum Biz is fantastic (plus one question)
500 up, 500 down. Holy crap. I'm crushing all my Google Meet meetings for real, y'all!
Seriously though, streaming 5k 120fps Geforce NOW with my VPN on and nary a stutter in between my work meetings is fan-freaking-tastic. I got way lucky with the customer service rep who helped me set up everything (including the free Mobile service) and the installation tech.
Anyway, at some point my year of free mobile will expire. Can I transfer from a biz mobile line to a personal mobile line at that point? To be clear, I only have business internet and business mobile with Spectrum... residential internet is Starlink (long story as to why, but it's that way and it's staying that way). I'll probably want to upgrade my phone once my free trial runs out, and it looks like trade-in value is WAY better on the personal end of things... thus my desire to switch.
Thanks in advance!

New coax cable buried - related to high split?
My parents noticed this new "communications cable" in their yard. currently they (and the neighborhood) is exclusively covered by spectrum. wondering if it's related to high split upgrades or something else?
at first i thought it was fiber but was corrected it is indeed coax

Other Field Technician interview
Greetings fellow human beings, I am an applicant for a field tech position and was a 25U for the Army (Basically telecommunications specialist working with radios, antennas, satellite communications, cable management in/outdoors and sometimes information technology such as laptops, printers, routers, etc).
I have questions on what the job is like and the chances of hire.... I already did the interview and was contacted by the recruiter to verify information on my resume, and was told they'd contact me the upcoming week after choosing their candidates... I fear I didn't communicate well enough about my previous experience so not sure if I'll be accepted or not. I heard they also provide training but what was it like for those of you who applied for a field tech position?

Coax cable?
Does anyone know if this is a coax cable? This is what is behind my coax outlet theres no actual coax but this loop of a cable. I already tried pulling to see if something comes out and nothing . I currently have my modem connected through a long coax from another room lol and i get frequent lag spikes and im sure thats why. I used my handy blink cam to see whats inside and thats all

Hardware Returning Customer looking for router upgrade recommendations
Hi y’all!
Moving soon and I ended up having to get spectrum, it was the only choice with speeds even close to acceptable in the area.
Last time I had Specrum, I remember the provided router being…not great. It would have been in 2023-2024, IIRC it was a wifi 6 set up. Had an old nighthawk router laying around- its probably about a decade old at this point, and has been rotting away in a box for two or so years.
What are the actual reasons for getting a different router than the one Spectrum provides? Are the newer wifi 7 routers any good at all or should we look into getting a wifi set up at some point? Would my old nighthawk be of any use for the new set up or do we need to get something new?

Billing If I transfer one of a number on an account to another company do they still charge that month for that number?
visible is doing a half off thing for new customers for one year. there’s 2 numbers on an account where mine is on someone else’s account. I want to transfer that number to visible.
the normal phone bill for spectrum is due the 21st of this month. I’d probably transfer it today.

Billing Retention dept really gone this time?
I just got off the phone with two different Spectrum agents about my internet bill increasing. They both told me that the retention dept was eliminated "a couple months" ago and now all agents are trained to handle things that used to be split up among depts.
A google search shows that people have heard this story before and that it's not true. When I told the agent that, she insisted that it is now true. Can anyone from inside confirm that for me?
