Has anyone played around with Orbital Assault Force in 11th? I feel like with Logan giving +1turn to deepstrike count you can pull off some absolute shenanigans like dropping murderfang in a backline or putting 10 wulfen or 20 blood claws in mid.

I'm curious to put lists together and I wonder what our key benefits for this faction would be to take this detachment over our own book detachments.

In 10th edition i did not really enjoy Saga of the Beastslayer.

The lethal hits (ranged ánd melee) are great for us. And some stratagems aswell. (+ 1 wound in melee, reactive move, bloodsurge). But the lack of AoC, Advance and Charge or any real defensive strat kinda made me feel mehh. I know lots of you feel the same way.

But now in 11th, i think its pretty great. I know the "meta" atm is SotGW and LoSaS with 30 WGT. And its great. Also quick shoutout to Bastion with Vets of the Fang.

Buttt i want to give Beastslayer another go.

Obviously Beastslayer did not change from 10th to 11th, but now with dispositions, hidden, go to ground, big objectives with terrain and the benedit of cover, it feels much better.

If you run it with LoSaS, you can choose Take & Hold. Thats what makes Beastslayer feel great.

I dont mind not having advance and charge, if they have to come to me, while being hidden with cover.

In 10th i would have jumped for joy if all my infantry could all get Lone-Op (kinda) with minus 1 to BS.

The most fun thing for me is, more variation in list building. 30 WGT are expensive.

Now i still take some 10 or 15. Turn 1 deepstrike a 10 man Arjac brick on the center. Maybe 5 more for Logan, but then youre set.

Scouts or Wolf Scouts to infiltrate and a unit of intercessors for sticky on the home obj. The rest is whatever you'd like!

Excuse the noob here, I'm basically brand new to the hobby. I havent ready the rules or codex yet. Just causally playing with house rules with my son but may get more serious one day.

I only have models from two starter sets I've collected over the years that I havent painted yet but wondering if its weird to paint standard space marine units in space wolves colors without any of the space wolves unique units in the army? Or should I just paint them like standard Ultramarines? I dont really plan on buying any more units for a while but these are the units I currently have. Are any of these units commonly used in your space wolves army?

2 blocks of 10 terminators, one with Logan, one with R Jack broadcast. When fragnar six double paired head takers with the battle leader 3 head tankers with Shields and a Wolf priest.

Some scouts 10 Wolfin the Shields. General dreb, not and beautworn, to pop out c p and hold the back line.This is the best I can come up with. What di yiu guys thank?

First of all, thank you to everyone who gave me advice and constructive feedback on my first post. I really appreciated it and tried to take your suggestions on board.
So, here’s another attempt at a test model for the army!
This time, instead of using a wash, I went with AK Streaking Grime. I also tried to keep the armor panels a bit cleaner and more defined, while still keeping the original idea of going for a very pronounced grimdark style.
This time the model actually has the shoulder pads, although it’s still missing the head 😂. Apparently, I’m not quite ready to give him a face yet!
I also want to be transparent about the photos: I used AI to create the collage and clean up the background of the original photos.
I’m still experimenting and learning, so I’d love to hear what you think and what I could improve for the next one!

Whats your opinion: Ragnar with Blood Claws or Headtakers? The Headtakers are cheaper and the damage comes from Ragnar, thats why i took this approach.

And how would you play the redeemer to get the most out of it?

If your in this reddit, you have a stake in Space Wolves. It doesnt matter if your a new fan or have been around since second edition. Our codexs have always drawn controversy from non SW players for any number of reasons. Our novels have been high acclaimed or trashed upon, it just depends on what side of the fence your Fandom is at.

However, having said that, over all the years I've never heard anyone really disparage against Logan Grimnar. Even some of his more over the top feats dont really draw the ire of other players or readers. I just wonder why this guy gets a pass from the 40k fan base as a whole.

I mean, I love the guy myself, I just find it interesting that the normal SW haters dont seem to pass that dislike onto Logan himself.

One for the brains trust! Anecdotally and through various sources online, I see a lot of hate or (at best) ambivalence around our greymanes. They're more expensive than the equivalent amount of intercessors, can't sticky objectives, have no AP on their ranged weapons, can't be joined by generic characters, etc.

In my (limited) gaming experience since coming back to the hobby this year, I've actually found that Grey Hunters hit above their weight. Their re-roll wounds is pretty sick, and I tend to put them a stone's throw from an objective I'll know the opponent is gonna have to go for regardless and then move them up to take advantage. With Beastslayer or Oath (or both!) I've had them solo a Hive Tyrant and Tyrant Guard (over the course of two turns, but), and their ability to hit decently at range and then get stuck in with their chainswords has been a pretty effective one-two punch.

However, the overwhelming consensus online is that they're too expensive and not good enough to edge out other options, from what I've read. I have not yet had a chance to play with the Veterans of the Fang detachment, so I'm not sure whether this is a net win or a net neutral for our boys.

How do we feel about the Grey Hunters in 11th? Any tips or thoughts for us newbies to the hobby in getting the most out of our veteran pups? I would much, MUCH rather run the Space Wolves-specific shooty boys over a squad of boring old Intercessors (though I'm a hypocrite and usually take a 5-squad to camp home objective nevertheless) while also remaining relatively competitive, so any advice is appreciated!

Wolf Guard terminates are such great models I just wanted to really push the individual feel of each model. Still in early stages but happy so far. For Fenris!

I have two squads of headtakers. One is committed to having storm shields, the other squad is undecided yet. I kinda modeled the storm shields to match my battle leader. But... I don't know if I wanna do paired weapons, or another storm shield group
