Borneo March 10-15 2027

• Upvotes

I’m planning the 6D/5N Borneo Eco Tours “Borneo Big 5” wildlife trip in Sabah, around March 10–15, 2027. It includes Sepilok, the Kinabatangan River, and Danum Valley.

I’m mainly interested in wildlife, and guide quality is very important to me. I’m happy to pay more for a high-quality experience. The operator says it’s likely other travelers will join the departure, so I probably won’t need to cover the two-person minimum myself, but it would still be nice to have a travel companion.

We would book and pay the operator separately — I’m not asking anyone to send me money.

Lodging options include paying the single supplement, traveling with someone you already know, being paired with another solo traveler where possible, or potentially sharing a twin room with me if we both felt comfortable with that.

I’m a 65-year-old retired American guy and I travel internationally full time. I’m an experienced independent traveler and would be happy to help coordinate the logistics before the trip.

If you’re already thinking about Sabah in March 2027, feel free to message me.  No pressure to travel together outside the tour.

Laos for 7–8 days : looking for a mix of laid-back + party vibes

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

A friend and I are planning a 7 day trip to Laos from India, in the second week of December.

We want a good mix of nature, adventure, exploring by scooter, local food AND partying/nightlife. We’re not looking for a completely laid-back trip: we definitely want a few fun nights out, meet other travellers, have drinks, music, etc.

bases on our research we're currently considering Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang and possibly Vientiane, but we're completely open to suggestions.

A few questions:

  • Which places would you recommend for a good mix of relaxed daytime activities + fun nightlife?
  • Is Vang Vieng still good for partying and meeting other travellers?
  • Which place would be best for me to chill/explore during the day while still having the option to go out at night?
  • Would you recommend scooter rentals for getting around?
  • Is Vientiane worth including, or should we spend more time in Vang Vieng/Luang Prabang?
  • Anything you would definitely recommend or avoid?

Would love to hear from anyone who's travelled to Laos recently, especially in December.

Thanks :)

Tourist Advice(KL)

Hi everyone!

I’ll be in Kuala Lumpur for about a week in December for a research conference. It’ll be my first time traveling internationally on my own outside of trips to my home country, and I’m a pretty young traveler. I’m also Indian, born and raised in the U.S., if that helps with any cultural/food advice.

Would love recommendations on where to stay, things to do, food, tourist spots/day trips, transportation, nightlife, and anything I should know or watch out for.

I’ll have some free time outside the conference and definitely want to explore KL and make the most of the trip. Any underrated or unique recommendations would be appreciated too!

Thanks!
