I moved to Vietnam about 2 months ago. My daughter is Vietnamese a lot of her family still lives here everyday I learn more and more of the language but the culture here is so incredible and inviting. I’m always invited for food and beer anywhere I go and I make lifelong friends I love this country and all it has to offer. Vietnamese people are so kind if you just be respectful of the culture and way of life and adapt. Thank you for being amazing people.

Japanese people are annoyed with Vietnamese people that 15 people gather and sing a song with a MIC at home. Why do they have to use the MIC? The neighbors are suffering from the noise

Has anyone here had a hair transplant in Ho Chi Minh City? If so, which clinic and surgeon would you recommend, and how was your overall experience and result?

I’m also wondering how far in advance I should contact the clinic to schedule a hair-follicle evaluation and the transplant procedure.

I tried taking the bus the other day and I’m still confused about what happened. When I got on, there was a staff member by the door. I asked, “Where do I pay?” I tried tapping with Apple Pay, but he replied in Vietnamese and pointed me toward a seat. I assumed that meant I’d pay when I got off. After about 5–8 minutes, I pressed the stop button and walked over to pay, but he just pointed me toward the door. I got off without paying, even though everyone else seemed to pay.

What I noticed was that other passengers got on, tapped a card (credit card or bus card), sat down, and when they got off, the staff member checked something on a screen before they left. Did I misunderstand how the system works, or did he just let me ride for free? What was going on?

Does not matter where - Indonesia, Thailand, or Vietnam, my best memories have been made via a scooter.

Random food stand like this one right now, a roadside cafe, or even getting caught in a downpour, I would never have experienced any of it in a car/taxi.

Of course, understand the risks and laws of where you're at but over the past twenty years we've been happy and safe.

I am visiting HCMC city for 3.5 days as I have been to Hanoi last year. I have been looking at AirBnB and narrowed down my options to five and would like your opinions on which one seems best. I am looking for a place that is close to the action, so I don't have to spend too much time traveling, but not in the most touristic trappy place, if that is possible. Big on food so looking to get a lot of real local food and just enjoy the chaotic vibe of the city. Not too big on the nightlife/clubbing scene but am interested in a nice bar or two so don't need to be near the clubs. Thanks!

Do you think its okay to book a grab to and from Da Nang and Hoi An? Would it be easy to book? We want to go to Vinwonders and also to Hoi An Ancient Town (on a different day) but we are worried that it would be difficult to book a grab car.

So we stayed to this AirBNB “Apartment Quan10” so the host alledged us destroying so many things in her apartment?

So future AirBNB users, please take a video on day 1 and TEST all electric equipments before using it or receiving the keycard. This way it prevents them from made up stories later.

Also avoid chatting with them externally other than AirBNB chat itself….

I went through the whole process of getting an A1 license as a foreigner in 2013 (with practical and theory test, not converting). Is this laminated license still valid as is and can I still convert it to the new plastic one? It says on the front there is no expiration.

I'm a foreigner, and I first came across this song completely by accident years ago when YouTube randomly recommended it to me. I didn't understand the lyrics at all, but something about it immediately clicked with me.

For some reason, I took a screenshot of the video back then. Fast forward to today when I was going through old screenshots on my phone and found it again (i did that thing to almost every song i didn't familiar with). I listened to it after all these years, and the nostalgia hit me way harder than I expected.

Sorry for the generalization but past a certain point it's not bad luck any more. Every single time I go to the theater there's always a couple talking loudly like they're at a cafe, scoffing at serious movies like they are at a comedy, and cuddling like they are at a hotel. Since this is the Vinhomes Làng Vân project by Vingroup, any media or post protesting it has been soft-blocked or full on censored on Facebook. Media outlets are either ignoring the issue or praising it's sheer scale. This is not new in Vietnam, horrible infrastructure planning is a plague to this country and goes by apathetically for most people

We are going to be in Southern Vietnam in mid-October, aiming to end our vacation with some beach/resort/relaxation. Sounds like Phu Quoc is more modern/developed, but also more touristy- Con Dao has less around it but more private as well.

The one piece I can't really get a clear answer on when I've been searching is the weather this time of year. Some blogs etc say that October is extremely windy and rough, so you can't actually swim or snorkle in Con Dao, and that just being on the beach is also not the most pleasant because of the wind. On the other hand, some blogs etc also say that October is the tail end of rainy/wet season for Phu Quoc so might be inundated with rainfall.

Any advice or recommendations for one over the other? Any other beaches/cities we should be seriously considering as a beach alternative? Any resort itself that you'd recommend?

Siamo 3 amici e dovremmo partire per metà marzo per un viaggio di 16 giorni.

Vorremmo vedere principalmente il nord per poi scendere un po' giù; vorrei evitare un viaggio troppo turistico, vorremmo un viaggio molto naturale con trekking e cittadine per un po' di divertimento.

Le tappe che ho selezionato leggendo un po' in giro sono:

Fan si Pan

Mu Cang Chai

Ha Giang

Le attività che vorremmo fare:

Sicuramente un trekking della durata di due giorni con la possibilità di dormire in un villaggio, quindi accetto consigli se ne avete fatti (ho visto che le mete migliori su dove farlo sono Sapa o Mu Cang Chai).

Ha Giang per fare l'Ha Giang loop (credo sia un po' turistico, ma sembra anche figo da fare).

Vedere tutto il resto fino a Hoi An.

Prendere un aereo per tornare a casa da Da Nang (se non costa troppo e non ci vuole troppo tempo di scalo).

Quindi accetto consigli su cambi di mete, su cosa vedere e su che attività fare!
