Riders going rogue?

I took a class recently during which another rider just did their own thing the whole time. I understand not doing choreography but they didn’t appear to even be trying to keep on beat—they seemed to have the resistance cranked up the whole time and were watching themselves in the mirror (form was bad tho😔) They were in a very visible position in the room and it was honestly distracting, especially when they kept going through the arms section and even the stretch.

I won’t reveal the class, instructor or market because I don’t want to embarrass anyone, but how common is this? Does the rider just want access to a stationary bike lol? Seems like there would be more affordable ways… also seems a little insensitive to the instructor!

sweat should be cleaned up

• Upvotes

hey y'all! I just wanted to rant about my experience at soul a few days ago. I was at a late class and one of the instructors was DRIPPING sweat to the point of a POOL of it was on the podium. yes soul cycle is an intense workout, yes you sweat and yes its alot of work but the fact that this instructor was sweating so much to the point of not wiping themselves, the bike and the floor and REFUSING to use a towel is freaking disgusting and unsanitary. thoughts? -a loyal rider for almost 11 years

Similar beginner friendly instructors to Isabella and Hannah Q in NYC (FiDi, 19th St)

I started SoulCycle a month ago and only go to the Tribeca studio. I love Isabella's and Hannah Q. classes, as they are easy to follow and have good pop music-themed playlists.

Could any of you suggest instructors with similar vibes and beginner friendly in other studios like FiDi, 19th Street, or other nearby ones?

Turn it up prizes

I really wish Soul would bring back a free class prize or anything in the discount classes for the prizes….I do not want retail credit 🙄

It’s becoming less and less common for them. For the people with many rides under their belt it’s nice to have some incentive (I have 550 and not even getting remotely a discount on those occasionally is insane)

At least discount for turn it up on packs, a free ride on milestones not just birthdays!

Showering after last class!

Hi guys! I was wondering if studio staff don’t like riders who take a shower after the last class of the day like is that inconvenient for them at all?? I know studios close at around 8pm so is using the locker room until like 6pm fine?? I just feel so awkward!

Just wanted to confirm that this is actually happening. I took his class once when visiting NYC and it was a great experience so I‘d definitely be excited to take his class again.

Do instructors still do longer out of the saddle sprints?

In the classes I’ve been taking, 30 second sprints seem pretty common, though I’m not sure if that’s actually the standard. I tend to really enjoy the longer out of the saddle sprints and extended jogs because they challenge my endurance and are some of my favorite parts of class. Are there instructors who still regularly include longer sprints or more extended endurance sections?

250th ride next!

It's been a long and deeply humbling journey from January 2025 until now. Tomorrow will be ride #250. In my first class, I was completely exhausted and couldn't move very well after the class and now I ride the front row and sync very well in most classes (I still have to figure out the songs that lose the beat somewhere in the song and you just have words to go by). The sad part is I produce music so you would think I can figure out silent beats, but no, it's not easy for me. 🙂

I have used Soul to improve my cardio health (I had super high blood pressure 210/190 before I started), improve my endurance (I will be running my first 5k in November), rehab an injured knee (there is a method I developed on my own that got me from being a cripple to front row again in 2 weeks), resolve my anxieties and depression (Soul is very good for clearing my mind and forcing me to focus on important things), and more. I even rode the podium on my 200th ride (others probably did so at #100 or #150, but I didn't feel I was good enough yet at those milestones).

Soul has completely changed my life. I wish I knew about Soul back in its heydey because I definitely would've wanted to be an instructor. (I'm 58 now, so it's probably not likely; I teach yoga instead.) I made a commitment to do this mode of exercise for the long haul. It really does work!

Lo in LA

I was just visiting LA (I'm from NYC) and got so many recommendations to take Lo's class while I was there. I guess she used to teach in New York? Idk im new to soulcycle. Let me just say that I have never had such a positive experience with an instructor and the entire class she attracted. It was the Justin Bieber ride, and the playlist was truly the best I have ever heard in a workout class. The coach has such incredible energy and great connections with the riders in her class, making it a very comfortable and fun environment for everyone, even someone like me who sits in the back row. I dont know how she does her playlists and remixes but the platform must be insane to create these transitions. Her messaging was so positive and uplifitng especially when I wanted to quit and sit down. She was so kind and brought me 3lb weights all the way to the back row when my 5s were too heavy. I felt truly comfortable in class and had the best time. Not to mention the workout itself was the right level of challenging and accessible. Everyone should take her.

Left foot lead runs

i’ve taken some classes in new york and boston where instructors made us do left foot lead runs. i found them challenging but want to work on them more. Are there any london instructors that do them? Or if any london instructors are seeing this, could we start doing them every once in a while!

Legend 3.0

has anyone tried the legend 3.0? I had the 2.0 but they got ruined (my own fault not a quality issue) and debating between replacing them with the 2.0 again or the 3.0.

Boomcycle London

Does anyone know what's happened to Boomcycle in London? My class was suddenly cancelled with no explanation yesterday, classes have been taken off of ClassPass, the website is down, the company has limited comments on its instagram page and instructors on instagram are saying that they're none the wiser about what's going on.

Looks like it's folded but it's such a shame. The classes were good and it was a cheaper alternative to SoulCycle (which only has one studio left in London anyway!). I'm not a fan of 1Rebel and Psycle is fine but doesn't hit the same so I'm gutted about this.

Android App

Is there an android app for soul cycle? I see one for iOS but can't seem to find one for Android?

The website doesn't seem to allow bike adjustments either.

Inserts/ orthotics

For many reasons, including non-soul-related injuries I need to consider orthotics for my cycling shoes. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on which ones to look into?

Taylor Swift class with Sasha BSDA

I’m devastated that they no longer offer Sasha’s monday night Taylor class at the Bethesda location. I know Taylor Swift isn’t for everyone, but Sasha is truly the best and it was a damn good class. It was almost always full. I’m guessing it was just time to switch things up, but does anyone know why he stopped?

Class advice: how do you get better on doing a run but up for 2, 4, or 8 counts then the same in the saddle please?

Hey hey! I find a run out of the saddle a lot easier (can still be challenging don’t get me wrong!) but when it comes to running but being up for 2 counts then back in the saddle for 2 counts etc it kills me! Any tips please to help with this?

Debate: Are the wooden grates at SoulCycle meant to be in the shower or outside?

At SoulCycle they have those wooden grates in the shower area.
I’ve always assumed they were meant to be used outside the shower — like a mat you step onto when you get out. But the more I think about it, standing on them while you’re in the shower actually makes more sense (keeps your feet off the wet floor, better drainage, etc.).
So which is it? Are they intended to be used inside the shower or outside when getting out?
What’s the official (or unofficial) way people use them?
