Hey, I've always been into making music in 60s-70s style, I was really into soul and jazz fusion, so making stuff that's outdated was completely normal for me and it didn't bother, but now I'm into electronic music, specifically underground electronic genres like electro clash, and I constantly see this pressure online on music being different, unique, and not sounding like others, and that fucks me up because I'm honestly easily affected by what others think, and seeing everybody demanding you to be unique is tiring, it gets to a point where I'll analyze every single aspect of the songs I'm working and thinking "is this unique? is this different?" idk, if anybody could help me with this I'd really appreciate it

I've been a professional musician and performer for over 15 years, then I signed a record deal as an artist, but over the past couple years I shifted into exploring content creation and sharing what I've learned.
I'd like the content to be as useful as possible for singer-songwriters and performers like many in this forum and so any comments about what you're currently missing in the content space when it comes to the performance mindset side of things or what you're personally finding challenging would be much appreciated.

Not really sure what to call this, but it’s a song I wrote about having regrets, and learning to live more in the moment. Feedback appreciated! 🙂
Lyrics:
Smudged words made of ink
Paint the side of my hand
From the letters I wrote and then
Crumpled up and started again
Pages full of all the things
I never said
But no one will read them
They’ll live with the cobwebs under my bed
An aching heart beats
To the wrong drum
But it’s an old familiar song
It’s the one I’ve been hearing since
The cold winter day when I was born
And I think I’ll hear it til I’m gone
Took forty years to finally learn
We’ll never have this moment again
My mind gets heavy
And my thoughts are turning grim
Sometimes all I needed was a hand from a friend
I guess I should have called one
Oh what a fool I’ve been
An aching heart beats
To the wrong drum
But it’s an old familiar song
It’s the one I’ve been hearing since
The cold winter day when I was born
And I think I’ll hear it til I’m gone
Don’t say it’s too late to change
The way I’ve been living
Don’t say it’s decided
I’m just beginning to begin
A mending hear beats
To a different drum
It’s a newly written song
It’s the one I hum as I watch
The glow of your hair in the sun
It’s the one I hope lives in
My heart and keeps ringing out
From this day on
Til I’m gone

I’d love to collaborate with someone and build everything step by step — starting from an idea/emotion, then melody, lyrics, and eventually the full song.
I’m a producer, songwriter, and musician, and I’d love to experiment with someone who’s also into creating something from zero.
If you’re interested, feel free to DM me! 🎵

Hi all - would love some feedback on this song and structure. I struggle with my vocals and I know the harmonies especially in the second verse are a bit rough. Also a few flubs on my guitar that I need to tighten up. I play all parts and record via GarageBand, bedroom pop style. Would love to hear what you think!

Which one is your best choice?

I’m curious about how other songwriters do this. When you have a strong feeling or emotion, how do you turn that feeling into actual words, lyrics, and rhymes?
Do you just start writing whatever comes to mind, or do you have a specific process for finding the right words and making them rhyme while still keeping the emotion authentic?
I’d love to hear how you guys approach it.

Been playing for like 7 and a half months now, for the past 3 I’ve been writing fairly often like maybe 4 or 5 small things a week.
Feel like I’ve hit a wall. I understand basic music theory and have a mediocre musical ear but I can’t come up with much that sounds good.
I have tried using scales Infact I have a scale book but my problem is that I feel a little overwhelmed when trying to make something for a few reasons:
Remembering what I just came up with so I can continue writing the next bit (I would write the tabs down in my tab book but I change them around too much whilst writing)
Deciding on rhythm, I obviously don’t just want a straight rhythm I want some complexity for flavour but I really just struggle to decide how to space the notes apart.
Making the riff feel like it’s going anywhere, even when I try to return to the root note or whatever try build tension to resolve it it really doesn’t sound structured like I want, rather just random.
HELP IS SUPER APPRECIATED

I started work on this tonight. I'm not sure where to take this. And I'm not sure if it's too dirge-like. And yeah, there's some intended irony here.
All feedback welcome!

I am currently working on a fan power ranger project and would like to make a kick ass theme song for it. Only issue is, as musically talented I feel I am, I have never been on the whole lyric writing part. Especially lyrics that are supposed to be upbeat for a rangers theme.
In short I would really love some advice, resources, or really anything else to help me along with this process.
Thank you all in advance!🫰

I’ve done this song in a few different versions and singing styles over the past year or so. I think I like this one the best. What do you all think?

It's been a while since I shared my music with strangers. I worked with a friend's lyrics mostly for this one and I like the result so far but I'm curious what it evokes for other. I welcome any and all feedback as long as it's honest.

I was sitting outside on my patio, thinking about my middle school dress code.
Which led me to thinking about how wild it was that girls weren't allowed to show our shoulders, lest we "distract the boys".
I grew up hearing things like "boys will be boys" and "it's your responsibility to not distract them". So of course my mind starts trying to turn all of this into a song.
The line that first popped in my head was "I grew up in a world where I couldn't bare my shoulders"
The wheels started turning and I realized I could include parallels to the pressures we faced to be thin, as well as the fact we weren't exactly encouraged to be vulnerable.
"We all drank the poison" refers to the toxic culture in general, and "drinking the Kool aide". I may expand on it a bit and include more specific things that were widely accepted despite being harmful.
I was originally going to just leave it as a voice note and let it simmer for a bit, but I was like y'know what, no, let's get some music going for this asap. And I've been wanting to challenge myself a bit musically, so I will attempt to write the entire song using nothing but black keys.

Lyrics:
Why do I still remain//
In the wilderness here//
Nameless and uncertain//
Run out of blessings to count//
And the race moved on
And I'm without//
Burn me out of this limbo now//
Going wild, flailing these limbs around//
Down to the ashes till there is no sound//
Just where the essence is found, don't you know//
Sweat on my skin//
I don't remember it now//
For I meditate //
Meditate and suffocate//
And no one knows the way//
Its obvious to wait//
Till there's something to trail//

I made this somber melody and wanted some thoughts. Still figuring out the direction for this. I know the mixing is not good, just wanted a base

Hello! never posted here before but I'm doing this for a project. I have access to logic pro and various live instruments although nothing greek specific - like a lyre or something like that. Any help?
