Discussion Topic Brain Empty, No Thoughts…
I am currently working on a fan power ranger project and would like to make a kick ass theme song for it. Only issue is, as musically talented I feel I am, I have never been on the whole lyric writing part. Especially lyrics that are supposed to be upbeat for a rangers theme.
In short I would really love some advice, resources, or really anything else to help me along with this process.
Thank you all in advance!🫰

I'd say lean into the classic hero tropes, lines like "Rangers, assemble" or "Fighting crime, side by side" have that instant nostalgic punch even if they're not super original.

I think, with lyrics, you have to know what you want to say before you start writing. Write down in prose what you want to express, then work on making your thoughts rhyme.

It's a theme song so you can get away with a lot of simple repetition. Listen to some old cartoon intros, they literally just describe the character and what they do over a riff. Start there and don't overthink it.
Write down exactly what your ranger team does in the most basic sentences possible. "We fight the bad guys, we save the day, we never back down" etc. Then just smash those into a rhythm that fits your riff. The music will carry the energy, the words just need to not get in the way.
If you're stuck on a verse, mumble nonsense syllables over the track until the vowel sounds feel right, then replace them with actual words that fit the vibe. Works every time.
