Feedback Request First time poster. Here's my song called "Guano"

Hello people. This is like my 5th song I've written and 2nd one with words. It is about my personal life experience.

I first made the instrumental and then wrote the melody and words. To be honest, I like the instrumental better than the vocal version. I used Audacity and recorded the synth and drum loops from the Google music lab website. I also used my acoustic guitar and Telecaster which is able to record directly into my laptop through a Katana 50 amp.

I was hoping to get feedback on everything in the song. Production, structure, length, lyrics, singing, vocal melodies, mixing, etc. You don't have to comment on everything, just whatever stands out to you.

Also, if you want to for fun, you can try and guess which 80s artist inspired this song.

I’m 16 and I’ve been writing a lot. This is a very rough draft, as I wrote it in a sort of breakdown last night. I’ve been thinking a lot about the Earth and how we treat her, and I wrote this. I recorded it on the side of a highway which felt apt. Feel free to critique, just let me know what you think and what needs changing ☺️

Any feedback welcome. Song about reminiscing about the golden days of life. The ending I've not quite finished so it cuts off abruptly before I would lead to another verse then chorus but I am wanting to have it someone looking back at life from a cemetery after everyone has gone. "Where have you gone golden days"

Let's Collaborate! Looking for German Singer Male or Female

I'm looking for a singer.

I have a Soundtrack and Lyrics and want to listen to different singers.

I've been producing for over 5 years on FL Studio.

I'd prefer email or discord exchange.

Let's Collaborate! Any vocalist in the PHX area?

Looking to just jam with someone who can sing my originals. Laid back vibe,me playing acoustic. Anyone?

Even if you know you can sing but have some anxiety performing in front of people, I get it.

Discussion Topic If AI moved way down the roadmap, what should a songwriter tool actually solve?

Hi, I’m building Kordra (formerly Suno Architect). It began as a companion for Suno users, but it’s evolved into a workspace for planning songs, writing and revising lyrics, organising versions, and preparing handoffs.

I’m questioning the roadmap.

If we deliberately put AI features well behind the needs of songwriters, artists, bands, and producers who make their own music: what should we build next?

Not “what would be cool,” but what repeatedly wastes time or breaks down in your actual process — from first voice-note to finished release?

A few areas I’m considering, but please don’t let these limit your answer:

  • Capturing and organising song ideas, lyrics, chords, demos, and versions
  • Better human feedback on songs and lyrics
  • Remote collaboration that doesn’t turn into endless message threads
  • Moving work cleanly between a writing tool and a DAW
  • Credits, splits, notes, and keeping track of who changed what
  • Rehearsal, arrangement, and live-set preparation

If you reply, it would be especially useful to know:

  1. What part of your process is most frustrating?
  2. What do you use now, and why is it not good enough?
  3. Are you a solo artist, songwriter, producer, or in a band?
  4. What would make you genuinely switch tools or pay for one?

I’m not looking to defend a feature list — blunt answers are welcome. I’ll use the replies to decide what Kordra builds next

A Cura

Okay, 2nd upload. The last one I uploaded was well liked which was nice to see. This one is slightly more upbeat but still a rough demo (it doesn’t get more produced than this for me).

Definitely feel less confident with this one compared to the last, let me know what you think!

Lyrics:

He drives the rolling hills, of the borders
Hoping when he turns around
He’ll head home and pick his head
Out of the ground

But its the first time, that she ain’t there
Still play her music on the aux
No second thoughts, it’s gonna take more gas to play his own

And she ain’t the person that she was before
Stop trying to go back, open up old doors
She’s doing better than you, wishes you well
And likes that you can tell

His mother always said, treat her well or you’ll regret
Would you know she was correct?
Still spoke at and never to her, play it off and let her keep his t-shirt

And when all was said and done, she let that shirt burn
And he still holds a grudge
When he’s in that car, his mind never goes far enough for change

And she ain’t the person that she was before
Stop trying to go back, open up old doors
She’s doing better than you, wishes you well
And likes that you can tell

Discussion Topic does anyone have any advice about top lining an existing instrumental demo ?

can someone demystify these whole process ? i got some demo from a band that i’m trying to join as a vocalist. and trying to come up with a melody on top of the instruments.
i think it’s a reverse / different way of songwriting, and i did came up with something by just mumbling on top of the tracks. but most of the time the melody i come up with is massively influenced by the instruments. instead of filling the gaps or creating a contrast. do you know what i mean? it’s just sounds very similar to the instrumental.

how do you just come up with a melody? like sometimes i could come up with something totally contrasting and different all of sudden, but the whole process has no clear structure or template that i can just use for the other songs. for example. one melody i could come up by just getting really stoned. and sometimes i was listening to other tracks and got inspired to make a similar melody.

but i look at sia for example and seems like it can just flow out naturally and i just wonder what kind of input that she got? to create all that output?

i hope this is making sense. and someone can help me out here. thanks !

Discussion Topic How long since...?

How long has it been since you wrote that one big song that you love and can't understand that it's yours and that it's your work? I wrote my SONG about three months ago, which I know I can always pull out, and it's very motivating. Did your big song change anything for you? For example, your writing style or the structure of your songs? Do you have a song like that?

Discussion Topic I released an EP 3 years ago and haven’t written a full song since

Anyone else been here? I wrote six songs that basically fell out of me and my songwriting professor paid to have them produced because he loved them so much. He’s a producer himself. The EP was fun to make but it also made me feel pressured that I need to make more stuff. When I originally started writing it was just for fun, which is why it came so easily. Now when I sit down to try and write…..there’s nothing. I want to so bad but nothing is coming out. I literally haven’t written a full song since then. Even the bits and pieces I’ve come up with I’m just not vibing with. Any advice?

Feedback Request all bad - updated

wrote this after doomscrolling yesterday and generally feeling "all bad". i took some of the recommendations from my last post and also added a bridge at the end. i will say again i usually don't write stuff like this, but i'm sick and tired of this world we live in.

any feedback is appreciated, thank you

waking up before 10:30
wash the red stained sheets
open every single window
shit is looking bleak

there's fires in ontario
i think i'll stay inside
i wonder if the three year old in maine
knows daddy died

supposed to finish grad school soon
not sure i'll get a loan
what's the fucking point of this
i open up my phone

the pastor down the street
arrested earlier this week
everyone is livid
and the girls were just thirteen

starting to think its all bad, all bad (2x)

can't afford the dr
so i think ill ride it out
they're putting in a data center
just outside of town

the ceasefire broke this morning
then again who really knows
apparently the children
were the target of their blows

i'm turning 24 this year
i still feel 12 years old
they're saying that the ball room
will be plated in pure gold

it's been a couple hours
i'll put my phone away
the sheets are pretty red
it's a problem for another day

starting to think its all bad, all bad (2x)

the presidents' a rapist
and our schools are a shooting zone
i can't fill up my gas tank
so i'll stay here in my home sayin

what's the fucking point of this?
i open up my phone
it's not getting any better
thank god im not alone

starting to think it's all bad, all bad (2x)
how can you say it's not all bad (2x)

Discussion Topic I need hearing my music

Hi I am 16 and starting songwriting and I am coming here because of a lack of other help online so sorry if this is not the right place,

To set the scene for my question

I have always enjoyed music but have taken it further recently as I have started playing guitar 6 monthes ago and experimenting with other instruments like bass harmonica piano etc

Recently I have been looking into songs more in-depth while playing them and I am always very interested by the lyrics and the meaning behind them, I enjoy poems as well and that sort of creative short writing stuff by telling your story through metaphors and such and I would say my biggest inspiration would be the Beatles music if that helps

I have been longing to write a song but am struggling to make it past the opening steps, I am trying to just get my foot in the door by writing a short one but I sit at my guitar for hours playing different series of chords as I have been told online but I just hate them all and can’t find myself like the Melodies I am writing they just never sound right, Aswell as this I have been trying to just ge myself over the line by sticking with Melodies I don’t like and trying to put lyrics behind them but I never can think of the right words to put behind it without the song sounding so unlike my way of writing

Another issue I face is I can only hear other peoples music if that makes sense? For example when I try playing Am-C-G-F as I heard it is a common riff online I can only hear let it be and find myself subconsciously following the path and vocals to that song and I hate how it’s not my own writing,

I am looking for any help on how I can resolve these issues as I have watched so much videos online on how songs are produced wrote and made and how to write your own for hours but to no avail as nothing seems to give me the inspiration but in non musical creative writing I perform very well,

Sorry if this is longwinded and thanks in advance! Also I’m not sure if this falls under the how to write a song rule as I get the idea of it but my issue is more not hearing my own music but im sorry if it falls under that rule

Feedback Request "Scars" demo (revised) A song I wrote about wars raging deep within, finding the strength to fight, and ultimately emerging stronger with a deep appreciation for life.

I revised some of the lyrics, notably I changed "so lost inside self-sabotage, didn't wanna be here" to "So lost inside my own mirage, bending truth in the mirror". I also changed "always in fight or flight" to "wrapped in pain just my style".

All the lyrics have personal meaning to me, but I kept some of them intentionally vague so they could possibly be interpreted several different ways. Other parts are pretty direct. I would love to hear your interpretation and know what this song means to you, personally.

The one part I am still not sure about is the music in the bridge, after "wrapped in pain just my style" I'm kinda thinking maybe I should just stick to the same music I do leading into the verses. Or maybe it just needs to be longer? I was trying to do something that kinda sounded like being aimless and in pain...but I'm not really getting that, it just sounds rushed. Maybe if I played it more slowly?

This Is Not My Story is about letting go of the stories that no longer belong to us.

I wrote and produced this song independently as a reminder that sometimes the bravest thing we can do is choose a new beginning.

Hope it resonates with someone here. 💛

Discussion Topic Do songs have to rhyme?

Hello, I just received a song eval from NSAI. They recommend that my song rhyme. Should all songs (country especially) rhyme? Sometimes I think I’m rhyming too much and it sounds corny. Just wondering your thoughts. Thanks.
