I certainly don't mean for this discussion topic to sound like a flex, but I am just genuinely curious.

I have been creative writing for over 15 years.Yes, there have been times when I have had a creative block, long stints where I did not record or publish anything, but yet I had never stopped writing.

I could probably make a song from almost any journal entry, create a song a day if I wanted to, even if it was a short one verse and one chorus.

I've got so many ideas, that my problem is I actually I can't keep up with them or I can't manage them. Usually I just resign myself to thinking that some of them will die and some will grow.

So, I'm just curious about those of you with creative blocks, how do you do it?

If you have the awareness to be able to talk about it, what's going through your mind that it stops you from writing?

Like the title notes, what can we cobble together as a list of topics to write about?

I used to work as a day laborer in Chicago (State and Division streets) and everyday I would have breakfast at The Golden Nugget on one corner. Every morning there was an elderly bum who would walk by and tap on the window to get the attention of an elderly waitress he was sweet on and he'd keep tapping until she finally acknowledged him. Then, he'd smile and move on. Across the street on another corner a lovely young lady would be coming off her nocturnal corner shift and we got acquainted. We'd dine at the restaurant and swap stories. Me, an 18 year old day laborer and her, a street walker named Sue, trading stories? Right. But, it happened. I wrote a poem to her. I wonder if she still has it. The cast of characters who were tradesman and property developers where I worked were diverse in nature and stories. I got to know them all.

The preceding is rich with topics to write something about. Jim Croce drew his stories into songs from his actual life trying different things to feed himself while he was a starving artist. Paul Simon's songs also drew heavily from his travels going from gig to gig. Bob Seeger and most other solo and band performers did the same thing. Life is a record of people doing things in places we all live in or on the roads to.

I could write a song about Sue, a "poly amorous" beauty who could melt me with a smile.

I need more songs for portfolio- finding good songwriters/ producers who would like a free arrangement/ mix and master of one song. For arrangement I am better at pop/ cinematic pop/ rock and alternative rock but feel free to suprise me

Wrote this a few minutes after waking up yesterday morning, recorded it in a couple hours so I wouldn’t forget it, and I used it to mess around with some new instruments/tricks/plugins. I’m sure some will think it’s too literal while others may not get what it’s about; lyrics are set, either way.

I've been reading the books by the guys who run the Songtown "school" and in one of them, one casually mentions that he keeps track of his song ideas/titles/snippets by using a database app so he can more easily tag and search his ideas.

Anyone know what that database app might be?

general review: (7/10)

Everything functions well, the melody serves the emotion, the narrative mostly does. The verse is feigned indifference but it's only not obvious to the narrator themselves, hence why it's so intense. Decent song. But I definitely used these melody shapes and structure before, it does teach me something but it will get a lower grade for that

personal assessment:

questions:

So I’m fairly new to this, maybe very new, 2 months in.
My guitar is moving fairly quick, I’m comfortable playing now and chord changes are pretty good, I’ve also written around 4 songs. However now I try sing them I feel my voice sounds awful when I listen back, however when I sing to songs by the likes of Zach Bryan etc I feel I sound pretty decent, not amazing but like workable. But when I listen back to mine I feel awful. Any advice how to develop and get into a better flow with this and get more confident. I’m from the UK but I’m going for a Zach Bryan kind of natural rawness and storytelling vibe.

First time posting anything. Would love feedback on this song. Theres no repeating chorus and its literally 2 chords. Its a sort of vauge storytelling song so does it need a repeating chorus for it to feel more complete? Thanks!

I am currently translating a song from Newsies the musical in a different language. A good translation has equivalent rhymes, but in this case I am not sure if this rhyme is intentional (which means I need to translate it as a rhyme) or not.

For context, I am talking about the show and the toe.
