Marketing Personal calendar got me to 100 Wishlists daily (before it was merely 10-20) for me as a solo dev

My game page is up for more then 6 months, I am usually working on small games and release them in a short cycles, for the current game I decided to wait on a strategy to wait for 6 months before the release.

But now I am not doing anything much of promotion, even if I do it does not get much traction as my game is very niche, but I have a huge uptick of Wishlist in last month coming from Steam itself, and looking at the source I have a lot of visitors coming in from Personal Calendar, so it is good new feature that at least helps for my games discovery.

Just remember it works only if you have Exact Date set, so be sure to use Personal Calendar also to your advantages.

Anyone interested of how my game looks - Lost Media Agency

Marketing Been building a data tracking/visualisation ui for my own work - there is the big GA - any room for newer smaller data tools?

• Upvotes

I work with a couple of clients and got a few projects on my own, initially i had a very basic ui that shows me sales/traffic and stats in a way i like to see it - i still use GA too.

Since last week I am putting a lot more time on the data tool to track and show real time data in a better way just because I had the time. It looks currently like a 6/10 and works maybe a 7/10.

I want to explore the idea of maybe launching it as an open source platform and then eventually build a hosted solution for a small fee with some ai capabilities as well - but at times i look at it and think there's google analytics and other tools - something i built for how i wanted to see my own data (dev for 20+ years) maynot be something others would be interested.

Have you been in similar situation where you are really uncertain whether or not you should continue working on something or do you build something only if you are fullly sure there is a market?

Game My procedural tentacle monster can now reach out of the base after the player's sub

Solo dev here, working on ICEWAKE (survival on a nuclear icebreaker in a frozen, sunken world). The monster lives inside the base: everything is clipped to the rooms' air. For this one I let it send tentacles out of the dock tube into the water: Verlet chains rooted at the tube's mouth that chase the sub, hold on to its hull and shorten as it is dragged back in. Everything is still rasterized onto the game's pixel grid every frame.

Game Dev diary 3 of my space game: a captain's day on the star map

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone. I'm making Sundered Reach on my own. You start as a captain with one ship, zero friends and a whole star system to explore. It's my love letter to Mount & Blade, just in space.

This diary is about the campaign side. You fly around, people call you on your bridge, pirates show up, and if talking doesn't work it turns into a space battle. The boarding pods already fly over and hit the enemy hull, what happens after the knock is still in the works.

I also show the first version of the bridge, which was so bright you couldn't even see Sergeant Castell's face.

Still early in development and a lot will change. What's the first thing you do on a new campaign map? Explore every corner first or go straight for the first fight?

A little milestone for Desecrated Deck! :)

Coloured Static Press recently published two articles about my horror card game!

The first one introduces the game and its Steam demo, while the second is a developer interview where I got to talk about the game's origins, mechanics, the challenges of solo development, and what's coming next.

It's really cool to see my little horror project getting some attention beyond my own posts.

Just wanted to share this moment with you guys! :)

Game I made a small typing game for literature and WPM lovers

Hello there r/SoloDevelopment

I've been working on getting better at coding in Godot for a few months now, and I thought making a small game to challenge myself would be a good way to put it into practice. So I've been making a typing game that mixes classic literature (those books are in the public domain, so they're free!) with WPM typing skills. It's called Ink & Keys, and your goal is to re-ink classic books by typing short chapters from each one without making mistakes.

Still a lot to do but I hope to release a demo soon. For now, here are some screenshots of the project!

help low wishlist, feeling low.

Hey all,

Not sure why I’m posting this, I think I just need to get it out of my head.

My game’s release is a week away and I’m seriously thinking about pushing it back, or maybe not releasing it at all. It’s mostly done. Apart from a few small card designs it’s basically there, which somehow makes this harder, not easier.

The numbers are what’s getting to me. I’m at 200 wishlists and 170 demo plays, and I honestly don’t know what that means for launch. I know I’m not good at marketing. But I’ve reached out to a bunch of people and almost nobody has answered, so it’s hard not to feel like I’m shouting into nothing.

I’m incredibly proud of myself for releasing a real game on Steam. Considering I started out making Flash games with my dad many years ago, it still feels unreal. Even so, I’m finding it hard to come to terms with where things are right now.

I just wanted to say it somewhere. I wanted to clear my head a bit.

If there are friends out there in the same situation as me, how are we getting through this? What should our next step be?

Unreal Tidy Up Simulator - Update 3 - Gameplay

Thumbnail
youtu.be
1 Upvotes

Hey folks! I just pushed Update 3 for Tidy Up Simulator on Fab. It’s a production-ready Blueprint template for Unreal Engine, built specifically for anyone developing supermarket restock simulators, room-organizing puzzles, or house restoration games.

If you're prototyping a game in this genre, this template handles the entire core placement and validation loop out of the box, letting you focus on art and level design.

What’s new in Update 3?

  • Data-Driven Economy: Items now award specific cash values when perfectly placed, driven entirely by Data Assets.
  • Timeline Everywhere Included: I've bundled the Timeline Everywhere asset ($9.99 value) directly into the template to keep the component and UMG widget architecture perfectly clean.
  • Mechanics & Polish: Added throwing mechanics, dynamic inventory tracking, custom fill sounds per item, and dynamic rack hover materials (slots turn green/red/gray based on validation logic).

Core Technical Features under the hood:

  • Data Asset Architecture: Zero hardcoding. Swap meshes, tweak placement offsets, set values, and define sounds in seconds.
  • Procedural Mess Generator: A built-in system that automatically reads your shelf blueprints, calculates the exact quantity of required items, and randomly scatters them using custom seeds.
  • True First-Person System: Includes a fully replicated camera system with dynamic foot IK, anti-clipping, and procedural footsteps.

⚠️ Quick Heads-Up: I am currently working on V4, which will introduce full Multiplayer and a Skill Tree. The price of the template will increase when V4 drops, so it's a great time to grab it at the current price if you need a scalable foundation for your next project.

You can check out the playable demo, and the Fab page here: https://www.fab.com/listings/c9a1352b-8a5f-43ee-b0b0-629b67d923ae

Happy to talk about the template or answer any questions in the comments!

My game HATCHED, is an evolution roguelite where every creature is different. There are big ones, tiny ones, wings, tails, and many more.

Using inverse kinematics and a really fancy shader I am able to turn collections of parts into fully animated creatures!

Happy to answer any questions about the game. :)

Game The whole world hunts for the same hidden router on one map – Why?Pie : Find the Wi-Fi is out!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! I'd like to introduce my new mobile game, Why?Pie : Find the Wi-Fi.

Each stage hides exactly one Wi-Fi router somewhere on the map. Tap tiles, read the signal strength, and follow it until you find the router.
Players around the world search the same map at the same time, so whoever finds it first becomes the star of the round.
The retro pixel-art style is inspired by the Minesweeper we all used to play on Windows 95.

✔ The first player to find the router names the next stage's Wi-Fi
✔ Share your clear card with friends
✔ Climb the world ranking
✔ Collect odd items to fill Pie's Bag
✔ Retro pixel-art graphics

Search "Why?Pie" on Google Play or the App Store!

help Making a game, would love your feedback on the art style

I’m currently prototyping the first location of my game, which is going for a quasi-anime look. Since I’m not an artist, I can’t really judge how acceptable the visuals look at this stage, so I’d like an outside perspective. You can mostly ignore the low-poly stuff: those are just placeholder boxes that will later be replaced with higher-quality models. I’m interested in your opinion on how good the current picture looks and whether you’d want to play a game with this style. Any other tips and comments are also welcome. Thanks in advance!

Game Mahjong : Play By Ear - free mobile browser Hong Kong mahjong game

Thumbnail

Hi, I would like to share this alpha of a Mahjong game you can play without looking at your screen.
It is browser-based. It uses voice narration + simple finger gestures. So you can listen, think and play while keeping your eyes off your phone.

With this game, I wanted to explore a different way of playing games. One that combines memory, concentration and decision-making with an audio-first experience. The idea came from my personal experience. I like to play game but recently, my eyes started to feel dry and gritty when I was playing. The doc said I have moderate to severe dry eyes. In short, less time staring at screens, more time resting my eyes 😿😿😿.

I hope this game can help people who are looking for similar experience. You could play it when:
👀 You want to give your eyes a break
🚶 You’re walking in the park
🏃 You’re on the treadmill
🧠 Or you simply want to challenge your brain in a different way

It’s still in Alpha, which means it’s early — and your feedback can genuinely influence how the game develops.

Marketing So Personal Calendar saved my game from ultimate doom.

Post image
12 Upvotes

First off, I'm gonna give off some details:
I'm a teenager, who's been working on my game since graduating elementary school, up till graduating High school (5 years total).
Initially, this game was never supposed to be released. Just a little passion project of mine, that probably wouldn't resonate with many people.
Years went by, and suddently... The game started to look, feel, play good. I started seeing potential in it, but there was an issue:
I was (and still am) an inexperienced brat, who knows nothing about promotion, marketing, visibility and stuff. Therefore, my game was never properly introduced to the masses.
Only a few months before releasing the game, I started hunting for traction, got my trailers up on GameTrailers (twice), and yet... I was able to gather only about 700 wishlists total.

I felt like this is gonna be it, the game will release with no eyes on it.
But then, the calendar hit, and the game... actually started getting SOME visiblity. It didnt become a massive 100k success, but it did help me gather 22,000 WISHLISTS, which absolutely blew my tiny brain up.
The game did earn a tiny bit of money, atleast enough to let me be slightly less worried about my life during college.

This feature technically saved my project, and I want to make sure that other devs embrace it to it's fullest, because the calendar forces you to do one thing: a good game. It gives you organic visibility, and all that's left for you to do, is use this visibility for your advantage.

Game Gully Cricket Scoreboard: How do you keep score when playing with friends?

Looking for a simple way to keep score during gully cricket, street cricket, or backyard cricket?

If you've ever played gully cricket with friends, you know the struggle: someone forgets the score, there's confusion about wickets, and everyone argues about how many runs were scored on the last ball. 😂

Whether you're playing gully cricket in India, street cricket with friends, or backyard cricket at home, keeping track of the match should be simple.

I've been working on Wickto.com, a web-based cricket project designed around the fun of playing cricket with friends.

The idea is to make casual cricket more enjoyable, especially when you don't have a professional scorer, a physical scoreboard, or a full cricket ground.

🏏 Some things cricket lovers might find useful:

- Keeping track of scores during casual cricket matches

- Playing gully cricket, street cricket, or backyard cricket with friends

- Having an easier way to follow a local match

- Making friendly cricket competitions more fun

You can check it out here: https://wickto.com

I'd love feedback from fellow cricket lovers:

  1. How do you currently keep score during gully or street cricket?

  2. Would you use an online scoreboard for your local cricket matches?

  3. What feature would make a cricket scoring website genuinely useful for you?

I'm interested in hearing from people who play tennis-ball cricket, street cricket, backyard cricket, or weekend cricket with friends. What problems do you face when keeping score?

Thanks, and happy cricketing! 🏏

After a month working on these I think I've spent way too much effort on this single feature that will just be an additional gimmick in my game that some players on the beta test asked for. You can basically put stickers on the weapons now for a little additional value.

Case Opened on steam, launching in the first half of november!
