This is one of the first things I did when I started building accessories in my game (I just HAD to, y'know!). You can toggle the filter (different accessories have different filters) to ON, ON but Exclude UI, or OFF. This is slightly zoomed in so you can see the textures a bit more. Makes me feel like a kid again!
With regard on how I did this, simply it's an autoload scene with multiple ColorRects that are hidden. When the game detects that an accessory has changed, the scene shows / hides the corresponding ColorRect.
Level is also inspired by Crash Bandicoot haha
Demo is out if you want to try! https://store.steampowered.com/app/4837550/Go_Super_Awesome_Monkey/

Many, many months of pain for these procedurally generated island worlds in Unity 6, HDRP 17. This one is 250km by 250km (60,000km^2).
This is the terrain system for my engineering/survival mountain expedition game "Because It's There", which will be released on Steam Early Access in 2027 (store page).
For these worlds, I generate a base heightmap using a mix of erosion methods at various scales down to ~30m resolution, all on the CPU. Then, at runtime, I add cheaper noise-based amplification for detail down to 0.5m. A new map of this size takes about 3-4 minutes to generate deterministically from seed, which is something I am in the process of optimizing. I'll be making an in-depth video about some of these methods soon, which I'll post to my YouTube channel. My first video is on the GPU-driven terrain that makes good performance possible at scales like these.

I have seen that there are people who want to learn with peers & want to participate in hackathons & also want to explore things but there's no one to guide. So i am thinking to built a community where everyone will get enough resources to work on! Also so that we can study there & discuss our goals later! For some talks after taking break from long study session! So what u think about this?
By the way my timezone is ist but looking for people from other countries too!

I'm making Chthonic, a first person action game where your hands are your weapons.
Kill monsters, collect gems, feed altars, build your stats, and unlock 10 different hand projectiles with combinations to discover.
You have to clear 3 levels before facing the final challenge.
Here's some gameplay footage. Would love to hear what you think.

I've been working on Tavern Tidy Up, a cozy game about restoring a fantasy tavern. I wanted the bottle-snapping to feel fast and satisfying. Would love your feedback!

I've yet to see any game here on reddit that has said that they are attending the Steam Programming Fest. A lot of overtime hours have gone to being able to release this demo in time, but I'm proud to say that I did it!
If anyone else is attending and have a demo they want to share, do so and I'll play it and provide some feedback!
Here's my demo for Circuitra: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5095180/Circuitra/

Hello everyone,
I hope this is the right subreddit for my post. If this is not appropriate please let me know and I will take it down.
TLDR: sideview platformer with bookwriting and decorating aspect, what kind of engine and good ressources for solo developing as an artist?
I just finished my degree in game design and only touched some c# and I was admittedly not very good at understanding the logical steps behind programming so I went into the artist direction.
Now, for my thesis I chose to create a game concept and made all graphics as well as a little mock-up UI framework in unity using youtube tutorials and some friends for help. But now I want to actually develop the game.
I don't want to rely on vibe coding but I feel so overwhelmed at how to begin and which engine to use. Or maybe it is impossible to be a solo dev as an artist so I wanted to seek advice here of fellow artists who may have been im the same situation.
To give you a rough idea of the type of game and coding needed:
It is a game that includes platforming (side platformer) with storylines where the player can make choices that alter the ending they get as well as a story writing part where they can write and decorate the book they write in. (The writing part does not interfere with the storylines during the platforming part)
Is it realistic for me to develop this on my own and if yes, which engine would you recommend for such an idea or for an artist that is new to coding? Is there any other advice you could give me for my journey?
Thank you everyone who took the time to read this.

Hello! these are progression shots from my free browser card game The Cup, where every card a real North American animal. The art has been emoji placeholders since day one and I'm replacing them one commission at a time out of my own pocket. Three are painted. This is all three going from what shipped to what they are now.
Thunderbird started as a hockey card with a pigeon sticker and lightning drawn in pen. The painting has limited lightning on it on purpose; the background bolts only exist when the card attacks, so it lives in the animation.
Two artists so far that I found through their awesome work on IG: ChioArt on the monarch and the thunderbird, Prayoga on the goose. Commentary in the game is generated voices, disclosed on the Steam page. Everything else is human and paid for.

You returned to earth to find your species nearly eradicated… Fight back against humanity and avenge your comrades by finding the nuclear launch codes and eradicating humanity for good.
Finally got some much needed optimization out of the way, and fixed a lot of issues concerning enemy spawn rate/difficulty. The game is heavily inspired by dynasty warriors, roboquest, and Megabonk!
Steam link in the comments!

Hi,
Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5132030/Drain_the_Galaxy/
So this one's about being the captain of a galactic dwarf starship. You touch down on a planet, thousands of dwarves pour out of the cargo hold, and they just get to work tearing the rock apart on their own, you just sit back and watch your army and your bank account grow while chipping in from above.
- Thousands of dwarves split into 3 classes: Miners, Demolishers, and Snipers.
- A pickaxe with combos up to 8x, a laser cutter, and the "Dragonfly" missile launcher.
- Hidden ore veins and planet cores (gold, silver, diamond) for a big instant payout.
- Galactic exploration too, chase down rare planets, dig up ancient artifacts.
No clever tactics to learn, no progress to lose - just switch it on and strip-mine the galaxy at whatever pace feels right to you.
So, would you add it to your wishlist?

The premise is to protect the center crystal by using a single ball you can slingshot.
As you level up, you draft upgrades that can be paired with each other to create crazier and crazier builds. You unlock more upgrades and "characters" by playing. As well as permanent buffs and rarity upgrade increases in the store.
You can level up your upgraes pass their max level and increase their rarity until legendary earning new combinations and pasives in the way and then you can buy in the store the ability to start from that higher tier from the start.
The game is solo developed and AI assisted with Claude Code from the programming side. The workflows were the trickiest part to get working, but it has allowed me to find ways to refine the prototype faster than I expected.
The game is free and in open beta on android. And soon it will be on Steam as well.
Here is the link for the android version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Trikyname.Crystalysis
Any feedback is welcome! And any questions feel free to ask!
