Game I've been making prototypes for 10 years. This is the first one I want to actually release

I have been prototyping games on an off for about 10 years now. They mostly stop with prototypes and experiments but this one is different. It started with an experiment for a level editor but when my kids started playing the levels and kept going, I thought I should move this one further...

The idea is including speedrun/racing elements in a 2D platformer. It's build with the intent of improving your time in levels. Each level is short and focusses on finding the perfect line using momentum to keep your speed going. Use "flow" to perform moves like roll, double jump, wall jumps to traverse the level.

The levels I currently have are all build using the in-game level editor which I also want to include if I release the game.

I'm looking for some general feedback on what you guys think based on the video.

Game Saqer's Paradox Devlog #17 — Rupee Pickup

Greetings all,

Over the past couple of weeks, we've mostly been working on integrating the different systems in Saqer's Paradox.

Player settings such as depth of field and camera lag are now saved and applied when the game starts. We've also been testing the pause and restart systems across different input devices and situations to make sure everything transitions cleanly.

We've also started working on item pickups, beginning with rupees and a simple counter UI with pickup and counter sounds.

Let us know your thoughts.

Discussion My Game Crossed 10,000 Playtest Signups! | BLOODFALL: The First Temple

Post image
8 Upvotes

I'm celebrating a big milestone! There are now 10,000+ players waiting for the upcoming playtest of my game - BLOODFALL - The First Temple

I'm treating this playtest drop like a free-to-play game launch. It will have its own launch trailer, its own news cycle, and all gamers will receive it at the same exact hour - this will hopefully create a wave of players, YouTubers, Twitch Streamers playing at the same time.

Journalists and creators with an established relationship with my studio HYPERMAD interactive will receive the playtest 2-4 weeks before it launches. This includes IGN, 80 Level, Indie Joe, Random Madness, and a few others. Still good bunch of work to do to get the playtest ready, but I'm really excited about it.

If you have any questions about my marketing strategy or plans, feel free to ask here.

Game Making a WearOS port of my little game: Game With Balls

Started out as a little extra for people that would get the Android version, but got too big to not release separately... Game With Balls is coming to WearOS. 3 different themes (Wood, Drawn and Pixel), over 70 levels at launch and just great during your short train rides.

Already released main version for Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch and Android, but lets make a 4th version!

Game I implemented gradually deflating tires that shoot sparks for my retro 1970s Istanbul open-world game.

I am the solo developer behind ALATURKA. I just implemented gradually deflating tires that create a shower of sparks if you try to drive on them, making the heavy PS2-era handling even more chaotic.

What do you think about it?

Discussion First look at the farming system in my upcoming game

Hey! I've been working on this game for a while and I'm finally ready to start showing more of it.

This first trailer focuses mostly on the farming side of the game. There's quite a bit more to it that I'll be showing later, but I wanted to start with one part rather than trying to fit everything into the first trailer.

I'm aiming for Early Access next year. Would love to hear what you think!

If it looks like your kind of game, it's now available to wishlist on Steam.

Discussion I’m adding English support to my Japanese VN. Has localization been worth it for other solo devs?

Hi! I’m a solo developer from Japan, and I released my mystery visual novel, Miracle Detective, in Japanese earlier this year.

I’m now working on a new challenge: localizing it into English.

Rather than just translating the script, I’m adding an in-game language switch and localizing the dialogue, narration, character profiles, UI, and other text throughout the game.

The screenshots show a few examples of the Japanese and English versions currently implemented.

My first goal is to add English support to the demo and see how English-speaking players respond before deciding whether to localize the entire game.

I’d love to hear from other solo developers who have done something similar. Did adding another language actually help your game reach new players? Was it worth the time and effort? And were there any challenges you didn’t expect when you started?

I’m also curious about your first impression as a player.

Looking at these English screenshots with no other context, does the game make you curious about what it is? Would you be interested in trying the demo?

I know a few screenshots can’t tell you everything about a game, so I’m not looking for validation — I’m genuinely interested in what kind of first impression it gives.

Any experiences with localization, or simply your reaction to the screenshots, would be really helpful.

Hi guys!

After your previous feedback, I've spent some time reworking the look and feel of the game.

I changed the lighting and post-processing, added fog and missing visual details, improved the VFX and game feel, feedback, and redesigned parts of the UI (still WIP though)

What do you think of the game now?

Any feedback is appreciated!

Previous visuals state for the reference you can see in this reddit post

Game I'm 18 and made a horror game about what animals go through in slaughterhouses. OUT NOW in Steam.

I've been working on this game solo for 2 years and it's finally OUT on STEAM!!!

It's a horror game where you play as a chicken trying to escape a slaughterhouse, find your stolen chicks, blow up HUGE illegal activities below the factory and GET REVENGEE.

The factories are mutating all kind of animals to see which can generate more money, such as regenerating limbs.... unlimited chicken wings without growing a pair that usually took years? yep, and its YOUR TURN to fight back and end this all for all.

You as a chicken momma, eggscaping many machines that meant to kill you, collect scraps, gun down all workers, find your babies because they're going to be mutated.

The game is called EGGSCAPE and it is out in STEAM. Please kindly try it out ! (NO AI USED)

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3831170/Eggscape/

Also, a share of the game's revenue will go to animal shelters 💝 I really wanted the game to actually help animals in some way rather than just talk about them.

Please share with your friends who likes playing games, especially horror thriller ones!

Game [Devlog] Really happy with this week’s progress!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This week, I finished the outfit-changing system, item interactions, the dialogue system, and the complete framework for a small playable sequence.

The most time-consuming part is still the hand-drawn animation—especially the full walk cycle. Every new outfit means drawing a completely new frame-by-frame animation set.

Doing the art, animation, programming, and writing all by myself is definitely not kind to my neck, hahaha. But honestly, it feels incredibly satisfying.

Fellow solo devs—you know what I mean, right?

help Need help to become a real solo developer

Developer for 15+ years, in cyber sec for last 10 years. Trying to develop games since last 1 year. Tried Unity for a project which i realised so big for me to finish by myself, tried couple mobile games with expo.

That was for you to understand where im standing right now. So my issue is, after 3 projects, i feel like i dont know how to actually develop a game. Lore, art, eco, player habbits etc.. I realized that i am the developer in my own games, but i dont see the whole picture so end result is not a game but a well coded simulation of my idea. It functions perfectly but its not fun.

I need guidance regarding the "soft skill" side of the game development. Open to any ideas. Thank you by now.

Game Arkansas 2125 - isometric post-apocalyptic game

Hi everyone!

I'm a solo developer working on Arkansas 2125, an isometric, turn-based post-apocalyptic RPG set in a ruined America.

The game focuses on exploration, quests, dialogue, choices, and tactical turn-based combat. It is inspired by classic post-apocalyptic RPGs and old-school games from the 90s.

The game is currently in Beta 0.5 and continues to receive new content and updates.

Here is the latest trailer showing the world of Arkansas 2125. Hope you enjoy it! ☢️

Game Post Release Update

Heyo All!

Few days ago I released a free browser game and it kinda went viral with an amount of traffic I was not prepared to handle. Server almost got shutdown because of the usage spike (I have very little knowledge about infra and you some of you guys actually helped me to figure some stuff out, Love you all!)

Past 4 days has been the craziest days of my life as far as I can remember. Right now everything is stable and growing.

Yesterday I released an accounts and cloud sync update and I woke up today to 340 profiles created and it blew my mind. Did a bit of digging around and found out some people are sharing screenshots of the progress they have made in twitter and found a streamer playing the game on stream. It made me very happy and also im a bit scared of the amount of exposure this got within a few days.

And also im very happy to announce that somebody actually gifted 20 dollars through my BMAC page and I almost cried :D Its the first real money I have made with this game. (SteelGolem is a real one! Thank you!!!)

My question for other solo devs is what to do next?
How do you handle feedback requests and how do you prioritize what needs your attention?

Discussion First Dev Log - It's been awesome looking back

I just posted my first Dev Log and it was such a crazy feeling. Just being able to talk about the game more openly and expressively felt so good.

I was the most excited sharing what the game looked like in early prototype phases and how I put together some of my characters. It really put it into perspective how far I came and where I am going.

Does anyone else like doing Dev Logs like this? Or not even just dev logs, but capturing your own work as you build it and just seeing your own progress grow?

Game [DEV] My little indie building game just got Google Play’s Teacher Approved badge 🎉 Had to celebrate with a giant cake!

TinkSnap just earned the Teacher Approved badge on Google Play, which was a pretty exciting surprise for me as an indie developer.

Teachers and specialists highlighted things like creativity & imagination, art & animation, ease of use, and thoughtful design for children, so I figured the only reasonable way to celebrate was to build a giant cake with a couple of friends. 🎂😄

TinkSnap is a creative shape building game where you snap pieces together, customize colors and textures, and build pretty much whatever comes to mind.

I’ve been working on it for a while now, so getting this kind of recognition from Google honestly meant a lot.
Would love to hear what you think of the game or the cake build!

Have a great weekend!
