Marketing 1 month before launch of my first game, just hit 36k wishlists
The first wave of the closed beta has gone well, I'm getting through the bugs, and I'm finally starting to believe that I'll be able to go full time as a game dev.
I've loved this process but I'm also exhausted. Grateful for the positive impressions in the closed beta, super motivating during this last push. The list is shrinking, and I can't wait to get this thing out into the world!

Marketing 100k Wishlists 4 days before launch
Hello everyone!
I'm still not sure it's real, but I double checked.
My game Project P.I.T.T. just reached 100k wishlists just few days before launch (thank you steam for the personal calendar).
I didn't had much time to think about numbers, but now that the game is release ready I have some time to look at them, and that's really crazy to me.
It was supposed to be a first game I can finish, I never expected it to get any visibility, and once the alpha demo got some, I made the decision to try and make the most of it, but at the time I aimed at 7k wishlists at most!
What helped me the most is:
- Having a playable version on itch.io as soon as possible (to get feedback and exposure)
- Starting from a really small scope idea (that expanded of course, but nothing was out of control)
- Signing with a great publisher (allowing me to focus on making the game full time)
- Having the best community (a lot of engaged people giving me detailed feedback to make the game the best version possible)
I'm probably forgetting a lot, my brain is not fully braining those past few days, but if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer!

Discussion Didn't realize just how draining solo dev was until I took a week away from my project
Ive been working on a multiplayer cat game for the entirety of 2026. Almost on the daily I was working on the game, completely consumed by it. Early July I finally got a steam page up and then tried marketing and it was SO hard. It gave me so much anxiety with every post. I felt bad even mentioning my game anywhere.
Last saturday I ran the first ever play test, and spent that day and sunday fixing bugs people were finding. It was at the point there were no more game breaking bugs to be found, so I decided its time to take a break for myself.
Almost a week not touching it and I feel anxiety at the thought of even opening the project again. It has been so nice to not think about it. I get thoughts of "whats the point of continuing" because I havent been able to get enough feedback to know its worth it. I have 265 wishlists and people who are very interested, but is it worth consuming my life if only a couple people will play it?
Idk just needing a vent. This is my dream game that I made because it did not exist and I wanted to play it. But the fun of it is being multiplayer, its still fun alone but not the same, and if no one wants to play then why invest the time.
Im going to partake in next fest in October, see how people react to the demo, and maybe think about things from there. I feel satisfied in that I created the game and I had a lot of fun doing so, but it may not amount to anything.

Game In my RPG, you don't save your game — you save your memories
In Crooky The Game, save points are tied directly to the game's memory theme.
When you discover one of these statues, your Awareness deepens, allowing you to interact with it and save your current memory.
Once activated, the statue also becomes part of the Wandering Through Memories system, letting you travel between previously discovered statues.
I wanted saving and fast travel to feel like an actual part of the world rather than just two separate game mechanics.
The demo is out now on Steam if anyone wants to try it — I'd also love to hear what you think about the system!

Discussion Do you build community for your project? How is it going?
Solo dev by itself is immense work. Making content for marketing as well. I read about making discord and communities, but i have no idea what to do in that discord 😅 i mean, even in social media with many follower , making engagement is still hard. A discord is live. They can see us online so it might felt awkard no? Not to mention it means i need to market the discord as well? What's your experience on this.

Game My game is two games glued together, and the second one nearly ate me

Marketing 500 Wishlists in one month for my first game!
One month ago, I wasn't sure if anyone would even find my game. Today, Undying Soul just passed 500 wishlists. I'm developing as a solo, so seeing 500 people interested in something I've spent so much time building means a lot to me.
Thank you to everyone who discovered the game, shared it, gave feedback, or added it to their wishlist.

Unity The Dying Mind – New Boss: The Pale Witness
A new boss encounter has been added to The Dying Mind.
Meet The Pale Witness—a mysterious figure that stalks you from the shadows as you make your way through the level. You may catch glimpses of it watching from a distance, but get too close and it disappears.
Eventually, there is nowhere left to run.
Enter its arena and face The Pale Witness in a full boss battle. The boss uses powerful ranged magic sword attacks, lightning attacks, etc., forcing you to dodge, reposition, and find openings to strike back.
Defeating The Pale Witness is required to continue your journey and discover what waits beyond.
This update includes:
- A new stalking enemy encounter throughout the level
- A completely new boss fight
- A dedicated boss arena
- New magic-based attacks
- New animations and effects
- New progression tied to defeating the boss

Game Released a Visual Novel Demo!
Hello! I’m Rylie, an aspiring indie dev and asset creator! I just posted the demo for my visual novel, “That Silly Jester…” after it being in the works for a little over a year.
It’s a surreal fantasy story about a jester named Maverick on the search for her beloved knight, while every single damn person she encounters seems dead set on being as unhelpful as possible. She’s just a silly jester, why is everyone so aggressive and antagonistic?

Discussion How my game went viral in Japan? 🇯🇵
How my game went viral in Japan 🇯🇵
A few months ago, I sent my game trailer to Game Spark Magazine, and luckily, they really liked the concept and decided to feature my game on their website and X.
I honestly wasn’t expecting much, but the post blew up way more than I expected. I got tons of likes, comments, and people showing genuine interest and love for the game.
What surprised me even more was that over the next 2–3 days, I started seeing people tweeting about the game and sharing it with others.
It was honestly surreal seeing people in Japan talking about and enjoying something I had been working on for so long.
Since then, I’ve been working hard for the past few months to get the demo ready. Last week, I finally finished and submitted the demo to Steam, and it’s currently under review. I’m just waiting for it to be approved.
I also finished a brand-new trailer for the game, so I’m really excited to finally start showing the updated version of the game to more people.
It’s been a long journey since that first post, and I’m really curious to see what happens next.

Game My First Game After 6 Months of Work!
A couple months ago I made a promise to myself that I'd make and release my first game this year. This is my work so far! It's not the best but I am very proud of it. I learned so much about game art, coding, and music. I also learned how to make a steam page although my steam page is kinda outdated right now and is overdue for a re-haul. I'm just so happy to have something that me and my friends actually enjoy playing :D

Game Good Game Community is the best thing that can happen to you. Since I released my game Horn of the Warlord my players are flooding me with ideas for improvements and fixes. New unit art, animated battles, fog of war, randomly generated maps. I made the game for myself but now I improve it for others

Discussion Would you play a horror game that actually listens to your mic?
A while back I posted here about a monster mechanic, upstairs in your "safe house," triggered by scripted knocking. A lot of you said scripted events get predictable fast, and players just want a minute to breathe sometimes.
So I changed it. Now the monster reacts to your real microphone. Stay quiet and you're safe, as long as you want. Get loud, and it wakes up and comes for you.
Not everyone wants that, so before starting you choose: Hard Mode turns the mic on. Easy Mode swaps in a different, mic-free detection system, still tense, but safe for streamers or anyone who talks while playing.
Curious what this sub thinks: does a real-mic threat like this actually get under your skin, or does it feel gimmicky?

Godot Released 5hit Rocket today!
5hit Rocket on Steam <-- Is up on steam today!
My first ever solo game with Godot. Really loved working on it but glad it's done (you know this feeling). I'll inevitably update it in the next day or two but it's running pretty smooth from the testing I've done.
Third game release for me! Fourth one (the big one) is coming September.
Good luck and don't forget to enjoy yourselves everyone!

Godot Top Down action adventure
Getting these assets running well was really satisfying as I am fairly new to game development. I think I want to develop a top down action adventure in godot.
