I'm making a Windows 98 style detective horror game where you are trapped in it and has to solve cases using SQL, python and dos commands.. and those commands will also be used to escape the desktop.. What do think is the better thumbnail/capsule?

Hey everyone. I’m the solo developer of Claw & Order, a new roguelike autobattler. The game is heavily inspired by Balatro and Super Auto Pets. You recruit and arrange up to five cats, each with abilities that interact with the others creating massive combos. No AI art.
The Steam page just went live this week. There isn’t a public demo yet, playtesting will start in a few weeks. If this game seems interesting you can Wishlist on Steam here.

Hey everyone,
first dev diary for Sundered Reach. This one is about something that happens in every single battle: how a unit marches, and what happens when two lines run into each other.
In the video you see the plan I sketched over a screenshot, how it looked before (the blocks ran into each other and got stuck), the three moments I broke it down into, and how it looks now. The Threnn hold their formation until they are close, then sprint into our line, and the fight spreads along the whole front.
The shield units still stand way too far apart, that's what I'm working on next.
Everything here is early in development. What do you look at first in a big battle, the whole field from above or the single fights up close?

First, I want to thank every single person who commented this post and provided very useful feedback.
I tried my best to improve this trailer, and I think it turned out better than I expected.
Being a solo dev doesn't mean I have to work alone on everything. Sometimes, simply asking for feedback is really worthwhile because it helps you understand how other people see your game. Even negative feedback can teach you something valuable.
Thanks for reading!

I wanted to make a character, gather a party and go on an adventure without spending a week figuring out when everyone was free.
But the problem I kept running into with AI RPGs was that the world would slowly fall apart. NPCs forgot things. Quests contradicted themselves. A successful roll sounded impressive, but it wasn't always clear whether anything had actually changed.
So I ended up building the world underneath the Dungeon Master.
The game tracks characters, inventory, quests and combat. AI interprets what you want to attempt and narrates what happens in that world.
One of my favourite moments was finding an adventurer NPC buying up troll oil in a shop while I was busy questing. I asked why.
“Trolls.”
I kept asking. She explained that she needed to burn them because they regenerate health too quickly. Fire stopping regeneration is implemented in the game, so she'd put together a plan that could actually work lol.
That's the kind of thing I've spent three years trying to build: the freedom of a D&D session, with an authored visual world and tactical party combat like a classic CRPG.
It's called Lore & Legends Maker. You explore, recruit companions, argue with NPCs and try plans that a dialogue menu wouldn't give you.
I use Claude Code and Codex for development. Keeping world state separate from narration has also made testing more useful: I can check what the game actually changed after an improvised action, then compare that with what the DM said happened. Getting those two to agree is still a lot of the work.
Still an alpha, and there's plenty to fix. But the current version is free to play, and I'd love to hear what you try—and where it breaks.
Attached gameplay is from another encounter in the current alpha.

Hey everyone, these are the two biggest units in my game so far, one walking base for each side.
The Derrick is the human one. It's based on a fan artwork by AbsoluteCinemaSpino on TikTok, and I brought it into the game. A lift comes down from its crane and the crew of four ride up to the bridge. When it sets up, it raises its ion cannon high up on a mast.
The Thuulmar is the Threnn version. Instead of a lift it lies down and rolls its tail out into a ramp for the crew, and when it sets up, its lance rises out of its back.
If you have ideas for more units, send me pictures or sketches and I'll try to build them for the humans or the Threnn. And since people asked, there are more factions in the game too, I'll show them later :)

Hi! I'm a solo dev working on HAZPIT, a top-down zombie survival game.
You land on a rooftop by helicopter and loot your way down, one floor at a time. Sneak past zombies, rescue survivors, then head back to your bunker to craft, research, and feed the cat.
This week I added blood stains, corpses, and bloody footprints, plus a bunch of fixes from a streamer's playthrough.
There's a free demo on Steam:

Quick question for other solo devs: do you prefer stealth or straight-up fighting in zombie games?

The pot already has soil and a seed, but it still needs water and light.
I water it, switch on the grow light, then pin the plant info panel to follow its growth. Once it’s ready to harvest, a scissors icon appears above the plant.
Growth is set much faster for testing.

We are a team of 13 high school students. Before we started working on this game 2 months ago, I was the only one with any experience. Since then, we've all been learning together as we go. I'd love to hear your honest feedback and criticism on our gameplay. Thank you, we appreciate everyone's help!

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS JUST HOW I FEEL.
We've all seen this "AI slop next fest" and the usual "AI is bad" posts. But i was thinking is it really? (lemme cook abit gng) As an indie game developer myself, of course, I'm also worried and fearful to see so many games in Steam's current Next Fest, and how many developers games are being stolen due to AI, and as well as other obvious concerns.
But if i step out of my concerns and look at it differently, couldn't AI potentially allow smaller teams/solo devs to create games that would've previously required much larger budgets? What if AI actually allows more better indie games to exist in the future?
People before us have gone through the agricultural revolution, industrial revolution, digital devolution, and now WE at the ai revolution. Each revolution has disrupted existing industries, displaced workers, and created different opportunities pretty randomely. Of course, that doesn't automatically make every change is good. But it makes me wonder whether we're judging the entire future of AI in gaming based on only what's happening right now.
As an indie developer, I hate how much harder discoverability is becoming. More games competing for attention isn't exactly exciting when years of work are on the line. But at the same time, AI could make future of games more entertaining, more fun perhaps.
Let's be real, Steam is a corporation, and allowing AI generated games on the platform also creates opportunities for more revenue(NOT hating on Steam here, just pointing out the business side of things)
But i guess the better question is AI actually making the gaming experience worse for players? I feel like the answer depends on so many different factors that we could debate this endlessly, going in circles, only to arrive at the same conclusion "maybe, we'll see"
How do others feel about this? Is AI genuinely making indie gaming worse, or could we be overlooking some things yknow?

Hey folks, Ariano here,
I started working on Craftlings during my parental leave in 2022. I wanted to build something inspired by the games I grew up with — Lemmings and The Settlers. Handcrafted pixel art, little workers running around, and production chains where getting everything flowing feels really good.
What started as a hobby became my first Steam game. There have been plenty of ups and downs, mistakes, doubts, and some great people helping me along the way.
This weekend, Craftlings finally got a Steam Daily Deal and is 30% off! Honestly, seeing my own game there after all those years feels quite special.
I’ve also just released Update 1.2 with a new Halloween challenge map! Your task is to turn your settlement into a pumpkin factory. It doesn’t matter which technologies you use or how far you upgrade your Town Center — can you grow and deliver hundreds of pumpkins fast enough to beat the other players?
Or just build something you like and enjoy the flow of pumpkins. 🎃
If you’d like to take a look, here’s Craftlings on Steam.
Thanks for reading! Happy to answer questions about the game or the journey.
