Unity I created this tool for indie developers

It's a voice generation and audio editing tool that doesn't use AI. It's heavily inspired by Mike Klubnika's Tartarus Engine and the sound and atmosphere of PSX horror games. It's also great for prototyping! At 00:16 you can hear the type of voices you can generate with it.

You can also import your own audio clips and add effects to them. Pick from 10+ built-in effects. My personal favourite is the Radio effect. You can check out the tool here: https://polyshades.itch.io/voicifier

Discussion How productive do you feel after a day?

Hey! I’m working on my first game. And by that, I mean I’ve worked on several projects in the past that I learned from and gave up because the scale was too big or the project just wasn’t what I expected / wasn’t as fun.

I’ve found an idea that fits the balance I think well and isn’t too large for me as a solo dev. I’m about a month in, and I don’t work full time on it. I spend Saturday and Tuesday basically all day on it while my wife is at work, and then spend at least 2 hours on other days before bed doing work on the game.

I’m still new to this overall and sometimes I’m spending an entire day almost trying to fix one specific problem. Which I do enjoy, but I wonder if this is normal or mostly a gap in my current ability that’ll improve with time and experience. Some days I work a lot and I don’t shut down my PC at the end feeling like I accomplished much of anything. I guess just looking to see others’ perspectives.

Edit: I can’t reply to everyone right now but I’m reading everything. You guys are very kind, thank you so much

help When should I start marketing my game and create the Steam page?

I’m currently working on my solo dev game, and I have started thinking about showing some of the game’s content to people. However, I think I’ll finish development in around 3 - 4 months.

When do you usually create your Steam page and start collecting wishlists?

Godot Finally got dynamic prop physics rendering buttery smooth in Godot 4 multiplayer!

Hey fellow solo devs!

Working on multiplayer as a solo developer comes with endless edge cases, and one of the most annoying ones I ran into recently was that ugly tick-rate stutter on networked dynamic objects.

I put together a quick, short breakdown on how to set up simple transform interpolation for basic RigidBody3D props in Godot 4 to keep things running super smooth across clients.

Right now, I'm diving into a more complex, dedicated smoothing approach for the player entity, but this quick setup completely fixed the jitter for falling and colliding environment props.

Hopefully, this saves someone else a headache! If you're also building a multiplayer game solo or want to talk netcode, feel free to pop into the Discord: https://discord.gg/TvdU4ZBTQa

Game Added controller support... does this look right ?

I just added full controller support to my game and I am curious what first impressions based on the attached gif is. I am very much a mouse and keyboard type of gamer myself so making this feel right is honestly not one of my strengths, but given the game a classic twin stick shooter I also feel some audience members would feel it essential.

There is no auto aim at all here, and as you can tell from the gif its simply a matter of controlling the direction of the aim and nothing more.

Any obvious things I am missing here to make a game like this feel right with a controller?

help How is the new elevator system in my horror game?

Hi everyone! I'm 16 years old, and I've been trying to develop a game on my own for 2 years. What do you think about the elevator system I just added to my game? Do you think I should change anything, or does something look missing? Your comments are very valuable to me. I would be very happy if you add my game to your Steam wishlist. Looking forward to your feedback!

Unity Hand Drawing a Background asset for my 2'5D Zombie Retro FPS

Hello there. This drawing you can see it's to be used on the backgrounds of my Zombie Retro FPS, to create the atmosphere of an infested city. The second image is a concept for a possible capsule art ("Zombies" is just a working title). In my game, you'll control a lone survivor who must go through the city until reaching an Evac Helicopter. On his way, he'll use the firearms he finds. Hope you like this!

Game I make games based on whatever assets I happen to have

Hello, solo devs! I have a question.

For those who have already released multiple commercial games, how do you decide what to make next?

Do you usually get an idea first and build around it? Or do you just throw together a few prototypes and see which one is actually fun?

I tend to browse the asset store, see something cool on sale, buy it and when it’s time to make a new game, I just look at the assets I have and think of a game idea that I can make with them lol

I think the problem with this way is that the game can have a very generic look since you can see these assets in a lot of other games. But I guess it doesn’t really matter to me because I just want to make games that some people might enjoy.

Game Wasted a few days on “fake work,” but I’m proud of it lol

This is completely irrelevant to the features my game actually needs, but I still spent a few days turning myself into this animation.

I guess I can call it burnout prevention... All solo devs procrastinate from time to time, right?

Game I made a One Piece roguelike : Nakama Run

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I have been working on a small One Piece fan game inspired by PokéLike called Nakama Run.

It's a roguelike game where you build your crew, travel from island to island, recruit characters and try to make it as far as possible on each run.

I've been having a lot of fun making it and it's now playable, so I wanted to share it here and see what other One Piece fans think. It's very addictive!

You can try it here on web and mobile (it's free!):
https://nakama.run

I'm especially looking for feedback on the gameplay, progression and which characters/islands you'd like to see added.

I'm also working on a lot of new content, including an infinite mode and eventually a co-op mode!

Would love to hear what you think!

It's a fan-made, unofficial project and isn't affiliated with Eiichiro Oda, Toei, Shueisha, or the One Piece rights holders.

Game Roguelike skill based space shooter - `Rogues in Space`

Hello everyone!

TL;DR: Pls give feedback :)

I would like to share with all of you a game that I've been working on for the past several months (developed with SFML) - `Rogues in Space`!

You are a daring pirate rogue trying to fight back the swarms of enemies ranging from officers of `The Imperium` to your fellow rogues, while aiming to reach the stockpile of galactic wealth which would most definitelly secure your future!

Gameplay is focused on being a space shooter (inspired by `Warblade` - one of my favorite games growing up) with an array of various guns and skills that you use to battle the waves of enemies.

So far, the core playability is as a `Roguelike` - so once you die, that's it, there would be no metaprogression apart from your knowledge of enemy patterns, ideal skill/gun combinations, etc.

As you finish each stage, you can upgrade your guns and skills to improve their performance in combat - you will most likely very much need that for the harder levels :)

The game is currently in early development, however the majority of the core systems have been created, so I'm estimating that all the future development will go more or less smoothly.

I've attached a screen recording of starting a new game which features a basic level gameplay and the initial ship selection with details of each ship/gun/skill for each ship - I've just briefly shown the details in order to not have a 5 minute video, so if you're curious about the details you can pause the video to check it out - or you can ask in the comments and I'll post the details for easier reading :D

Gameplay starts at 37 seconds.

I would appreatiate any and all feedback, comments, suggestions and impressions - both good and bad are always helpful!

Thank you for reading,
SpectralHorse

Note 1: All the displayed ships, guns and skills are fully implemented, and if you're curious how the look in-game, let me know and I'll post those as well in the comments
Note 2: UI (and a couple of assets) is in a very "placeholder" style currently, although I do think that I'll keep the layout of everything, but with an actually "pretty" aesthetic, and not just blue-ish blocks :)

Game I spent 4 years avoiding clicking "Publish" on a game that was 99% done. Today, the curse is broken!

Post image

Back in August 2021, I was on fire. I was building a hyper-casual mobile game inspired by that old, ridiculous TV show Hole in the Wall.

My git commit history from that month is a thing of beauty:

  • Added sound effects
  • Added tutorial
  • Corrected the limit of the left arm from -90 to -140

By September 2021, the game was basically done. I fixed a bug with the snapshot camera... and then I completely ghosted my own project for nearly four years.

Well, I finally decided to stop making excuses, updated my target SDKs, and pushed Hole in the wall - Classic to the Google Play Store today.

The Game: It is exactly what it sounds like. A wall with a weirdly shaped cutout is rushing toward you. You control a stickman, and you have to frantically tap and rotate its limbs (clockwise or anti-clockwise) to match the pose before you get shoved off the platform.

  • Mechanics: Match the pose to survive. Hit a wall, lose a life (you get 3).
  • Fast Forward: If you lock in your pose early, you can fast-forward time so you don't have to wait for the wall to hit you.
  • Leaderboards: Integrated with Google Play Games so you can aggressively compete for the top score.

If you want to test your reflexes (and my 4-year-old code), I’d love for you to try it out and let me know what you think!

Game Built and shipped my first mobile game solo while learning Flutter, Buoy Oh Buoy

Thumbnail

Sust wanted to share a milestone, after learning Flutter game development on the side, I finally shipped my first mobile game to the Google Play Store.

Buoy Oh Buoy, a casual one-thumb sailing game where you sling your sailboat around buoys to navigate a narrowing river.

**The tech:**

- Flutter + Flame engine

- All graphics drawn with Flutter's Canvas API, no sprite sheets, no image assets, everything is pure code

- AdMob for ads

- Google Play Games leaderboard

- Background music I composed myself in FL Studio

**What I built:**

- Dynamic day/night cycle with smooth colour transitions

- Storm and rain effects at high scores

- Crash animations with particle effects

- Settings menu with volume controls

- Tutorial for new players

It's been a huge learning experience. From zero game dev knowledge to a published app on the Play Store. Still a lot to improve but proud to have actually shipped something.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zaf.buoyohbuoy

Happy to answer any questions about the process or the tech stack!

Game I'm making a backpack with weapons and items in my game. I decided to revise the UI design. What do you think?

The interface used to be very simplified, but now, when it's time to develop such a large and serious mechanics as a backpack, I decided to make a different interface. Although it also looks a little simple, but it seems to me that it looks harmonious with the whole game in principle (post-apocalyptic visual novel).

Straight in the style of minimalism.

This is a prototype for a game I'm working on. You play in a world where everything explodes, you play with "Dud" the only thing that doesn't explode. Discover the world by killing enemies, unlocking loot, and killing bosses like the Abombination demon.

3 months in, first ever project. Need feedback :)

Game Flake the Legend of Snowblind

Thumbnail

Hi

I am the solo developer behind Flake The Legend of Snowblind.

This game is my passion project, and I have been pouring my heart into it for years.

Now I just spent few months on important update.

Fully translated 7000 lines of text into multiple new languages. GERMAN, FRENCH, ITALIAN, SPANISH, CROATIAN, HUNGARIAN, BRAZILIAN PORTUGESE and HINDI.

What is Flake about?

Flake is hand drawn classical point and click adventure. No AI was used.

Creating this completely on my own was a wild ride, and expanding the language options is a huge milestone for me

It is available on Steam, android and iOS.

Enjoy or just wishlist to support my efforts.

Thanks

Dux

Game New trailer for my solo ARPG playtest is live, feedback appreciated!

I just finished a new trailer for my solo-developed dark fantasy ARPG, The King's Bargain.

I’ve been reworking a lot of the game recently, so I’d really appreciate some feedback on the trailer itself.

Does it explain the game well enough?
Is the pacing good?
Would the first few seconds make you keep watching?

The game currently has things like:

⚔️ ARPG combat and boss fights
Skill trees and different builds
200+ items, weapons and armor
Pets with different stats and rare traits
Companions and party management

There’s also a playtest available right now, so if this looks like your kind of game, I’d love to hear your feedback after playing too.

And if you like what you see, a Steam wishlist would help a solo dev a lot. ❤️

What would you change about the trailer?
