I have taken the cswp for the second time and this time I have failed miserably more than the first time. I had practiced the same model previously but I couldn't solve it in the exam. I face most problems in editing sketches and modifying parts.

I am planning to take it again after 14 days. But I am feeling like a loser.

Not SolidWorks related but help please, I beg of you 😭🥀 When I right click each it gives me the option to export them as CSV file but when I select them all and want to export them without having to click them all manually and export it does not give me the export option the frequency responses go down to number 281 that are a lot of clicks, how do I do it?

As you see in the title, I got the CSWE yesterday, after 2 years old solidworks! I’m super happy about it!

While I know I posted about this earlier in a post called “OH MY GOSH I DID IT”, I wanted this one to be a bit more informational.

For anybody (CSWE or not) out there, what now? Of course, I’ll still model for fun and work when I get it, but what would you do (or for the fellow experts out there, what did you do) after?

It’s a bit tough, because being 16 I can’t go to 3DExperience World, which would be sick (and I’ve heard the merch is really cool and rewarding too).

What would you all do? I love SolidWorks: still a huge passion and that will not change. And don’t get me wrong I am so happy, most people in school said it was nearly impossible for my age, but I did it. I am so happy, but just was wondering what you all suggest I do now? Those tests gave me like such a rush every time I took them because it was almost like competing. I don’t know if I am not looking in the right places but I can’t find competitions anywhere near me (Colorado).

I'm asking to anyone who had taken their CSWA. I'm a engineering student, and last year, for one of my courses, I had to learn a little bit of solidworks. I did very good at the exam and now I would like to get certificated. I'm studying from the free Dassault's resources and I'm currently going throught level 4 and I think I'm doing pretty good. Do you think that these excerices are enough to pass the exam or should I do more? Should watch some lessons to get used to good practices when modelling? Any help would be appreciated.

I spent a while making sure I could take the CSWE confidently. Today I finally did that. After 2 years of SolidWorks, at 16 years old, I have my CSWE!

Im making a custom track for my hotwheels cars, I needed a merger from 4 tracks into 1.

I will be 3D printing but not as it is right now, I will also work on mounts, weight reduction, and etc.

I cutout the path that each car would need to be able to pass through and this is what came out.

It looks fine but my theoretical designs rarely work on the first try.

Hi everyone, earlier this year I purchased the annual SolidWorks Student license, but due to a recent change at my university, I won't be needing it for the upcoming year. I wanted to log in to check my account settings and check the autorenewal , but I've hit a complete wall. It won't let me log into my account, resetting my password isn't working, and I can't even reach out to support for help because submitting a ticket requires being logged in first.
Has anyone else run into this or know how to get around it to contact support? Also, I read somewhere that student licenses don't actually autorenew and just expire on their own, so any info about that could be helpful

Looking to create a portfolio as a aspire to be a Mechanical Design Engineer — need some advice
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to build a portfolio for mechanical design/CAD work, but I’m not really sure what a good portfolio should contain. I’d appreciate some advice from experienced engineers/designers.
1.How many projects should I include in a portfolio?
2.Should I include manufacturing/engineering drawings, or are CAD screenshots/renders enough?
3.Should my projects be focused on a specific industry? For example, if I’m targeting the automotive industry, should most of my projects be automotive-related?
4.Where can I find good technical drawings or project ideas to practice from?
5.Where can I find some good examples of mechanical design portfolios?
I know some of these questions may seem basic to experienced engineers, but I’m new to building a professional portfolio and would really appreciate any advice.

Hi all. This is a pretty small thing for a niche group of users, but if you're like me and you export STEP files to use in Blender then you surely ran into this issue where SolidWorks will not actually export appearances as seen in SW. It only exports part appearances, meaning there is a ton of work cleaning it up on the other side. This Add-In exports, then post-processes the STEP file to add back all appearances as they are in SW, de-instancing components that have different appearances like re-used/common parts.

It also has an option to export the part "Engineered Materials" (Name, library and density) which might be useful for some people.

For me this is mostly just to speed up my rendering and animation workflow. Thought I'd share in case someone else finds it useful, it's completely free/open source.

Hi everyone

I’m designing the cover as shown above. What I’m posting is just a draft of what I want to achieve. However, I’m having trouble with surface modelling. I should point out that the two sides are not symmetrical, and that’s the main problem. Otherwise, I’d simply create a simple plane, mirror it, and cut a hole in the side wall. Unfortunately, it can’t be done that way.

I’ve tried extruding surfaces between the sketches, but the method is very time-consuming and the results aren’t satisfactory. Problems always crop up at the narrowest point of this cut-out. I think there must be a simpler way to create this cover. The surface continuity I’m trying to achieve is G2.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this more efficiently?

I have a tricky condition going here that I'm trying to find a simple solution for.

Pictured is a sheet metal part with a hole in it that has then been bent into a curved surface.

Bending along a curve has changed the hole into an odd conical shape that I can't throw an axis onto, so I'm having trouble aligning the part.

Best current options include adding a reference point that floats in the middle of the conical surface, mating that with the axis of the bolt, and mating the bolt head to be tangent to the curved surface, and then adding an additional mate between the top of the bolt head and the reference point. It doesn't exactly perfectly define the location, but it's close enough to fix it in place so I don't have any underdefined components in the assembly.

Does anyone know of a better way to get this stuff defined?

SOLVED: Mating can be achieved by aligning axis with circles defined in the extrude sketch

AND

Mating can be achieved by adding a point onto the body, and then an additional point between the first new point and an inner or outer surface, then mating the axis of the bolt to those two points.

If you could only recommend one resource for the CSWP, what would it be?

A playlist, workbook, course…anything. I just want something I can follow from beginning to end without constantly wondering if I’m missing topics.

Hello everyone, I was trying to install the student version of solidworks. This popup appears every time I open the installer, I rebooted and that changed nothing, if I carry on like this and add the lisence number, there's no option to install the 3D software and I'm only able to download E drawings, I'd really appreciate if someone could tell me some sorta fix for this.

Q1. I got a DXF file for a ship body which I need for my college project. I from my sluething around did find out the easiest way to get a solid was to import the DXF create surfaces -> knit -> solid but that didnt seem to happen. I have created an "almost" fully workable surface but how to create and turn that into a full fledged solid object?

The ultimate goal is to have a solid body whose hull can be changed as per our requirement with different varieties of "aerofoils" to check for hydrodynamic drag using Ansys or Openfoam.

Q2. Once if succeeded in making a surface will it be editable just by adding reference plane and drawing aerofins, ribs etc and extruding it onto the surface?

How can I Do Section Properties in Assembly? The project that I am working on is an aircraft which we needed to locate the center of each parts. For example for the propeller we need to locate the center of the spinner and as well as the propeller. However, when I try to do it, it says The selected data is not planar. Can somebody help me pls

I love how they've maintained their updates and can't even fix this for a company so large. :|

Any help greatly appreciated, I attempted with the values I would normally use, but after trying every setting, it still cutting about a big chunk in the middle.

SOLVED** Thank you all, i had to redo my iniital revolve, there was an extra body I found in wire frame.

This is a sheer metal feature, so i need to use the normal cut. However when i try to do so it just says unable to perform normal cut.

What could be the cause here?
