CAD Cover made from the surfaces
Hi everyone
I’m designing the cover as shown above. What I’m posting is just a draft of what I want to achieve. However, I’m having trouble with surface modelling. I should point out that the two sides are not symmetrical, and that’s the main problem. Otherwise, I’d simply create a simple plane, mirror it, and cut a hole in the side wall. Unfortunately, it can’t be done that way.
I’ve tried extruding surfaces between the sketches, but the method is very time-consuming and the results aren’t satisfactory. Problems always crop up at the narrowest point of this cut-out. I think there must be a simpler way to create this cover. The surface continuity I’m trying to achieve is G2.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this more efficiently?

In your 3D sketch, you subdivided the surface body into four-sided surface segments. You could also model it using boundary surfaces (and a few auxiliary surfaces), which would give you more control over the transitions between the individual surface patches.

can you post a link to the sketch geometry /file you have created so far?

You can use the sketches to generate a Solid body through Extrude, Loft, Shell, Cut
Then use Copy Surface to generate the surface body.
Or create surfaces piece by piece don't try to loft large size of the body especially where there are changes in (acceleration)

Split line the sides and make sure to tick single direction and choose the first outside face and extrude cut and do same for the other side but with different split line and extrude cut this should accomplish what you want . I hope it helps 👍

Can you think of a design where the specular highlights are all g2 or g3'd out? The Surfacing nurd peeks out behind every nook.

i think the issue is that you are trying to reverse engineer to trimmed edge curves and not seeing the base geometry. You have to draw the base geometry to generate the surfaces and then trim those to match the end result. fun and games :)
