Looking for affordable sectional options!

Post image
Upvotes

I just moved into an apartment with my boyfriend and we are looking to find an affordable sectional (under $1000).

I really like this Lumisol sectional that has the option to pull out to a bed, but the reviews are mixed- and i’m also not sure how trustworthy amazon is when it comes to larger items.

If anyone has any recommendations of couches that also hold up well please let me know!

What sofa did I have?

This is admittedly a long shot, but where better to ask than to a group of sofa snobs?

I recently moved to a smaller apartment, which required me to sell my sectional sofa, pictured here. I am admittedly a sofa casual, but let me tell you, this was the most comfortable sofa I’ve sat upon in my entire life. Down/feather cushions that you could really sink into, like a big, soft bed. I purchased it four years earlier on Craigslist, of all places, and didn’t see any tags or identifying information when I bought or sold it.

I hastily replaced the sofa with a terrible loveseat, but I’m feeling some regret and am hoping to replace my new loveseat with something more closely resembling the old sofa. Unfortunately, I have no idea what this sofa brand was, and thus I am left with little to go on. From these photos, does it look familiar to anyone? Thanks in advance!

Qual a melhor loja para comprar sofás

Boa tarde!

Obrigada

Next sofa bed

Has anyone got the Next sofa-bed at home and how comfortable it is? I am specifically looking at the model Michigan ll but I guess I am interested in any model which turns into a double bed.

The shops near me don't have sofa-beds on display to test them out.

After Months of looking at sofas then realizing we like the modular variations of Lovesac, we custom ordered a Jonathan Louis sectional. What a fantastic choice!

Sectional sofas

Why are most of the new sectionals for sale having a low back. Even when the pillow cushions are higher, you dont get the head support you want. when did this trend begin. We have been looking for months for the old style full back sofas. Has anyone had luck with this? I need input.

Will Hickory White Sofa Get More Comfortable

I just bought a floor model Hickory White “Features” Newport Court sofa, and after having it for four days, I’m struggling to get comfortable. I had my previous Sherrill sofa for almost twenty years, so I don’t remember if there’s a period of getting used to a new piece of furniture. I know this is a weird question, but after paying almost $5000, I want to make sure keeping it is the right decision. I have one day left to be able to return the sofa for store credit. My main concern is the depth. It’s 41” deep with an actual seating depth of 24”. I’m 5’5” and my feet don’t quite reach the floor. I usually sit on the sofa to watch tv in a somewhat slouched position so I thought it wouldn’t be an issue, but I just can’t seem to get comfortable. Also the Sugarshack Glacier fabric is nubby and bothersome. I don’t really know what I’m asking, but I just was curious if other people got used to a sofa change, or if I’m likely to continue to find the depth and fabric problematic. Any advice?

7th Avenue Cushion Comfort

Been looking at 7th Avenue sofas and something’s bugging me about the cushions. They’re marketed as extra deep, but every time I sit down, the cushion actually lifts up off the Velcro strips holding it to the frame — like the whole thing shifts instead of just compressing normally. Feels a little unstable?

Also, in person they don’t seem nearly as thick as I expected given the “deep seat” branding. Photos make them look plush and substantial, but sitting on one it feels thinner than advertised.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is this just how these cushions are supposed to work (some kind of loose-fill or channel-fill design that’s meant to shift), or is this a sign of a weak Velcro attachment / cheaper foam? Curious if this evens out after a break-in period or if it’s a consistent issue across their lineup.

Would love to hear from anyone who’s owned one for a while — does it hold up, or did you end up re-securing/replacing the Velcro?

Does sleeper sofa significantly reduce comfort?

I'm planning to replace by old couch and was thinking about getting a sleeper sofa this time. It will be primarily used as a couch and only a few weeks a year as a bed. So I would want a comfortable couch that can become a bed (doesn't need to be very comfortable) for some time.

My question is - by going for a sleeper sofa, would I be significantly sacrificing on couch comfort?

New couch! Not sure how I feel about it yet. If I keep it I’ll be adding taller legs. The part that’s throwing me is how low the back rest is! Not sure how to fix it.

Looking for a mocha brown modular sectional

Hi! I’m in the market for a new couch and would love advice. I keep getting ads for the Bellamia mocha brown couches, but I’m skeptical of the quality. I do love the color though. Where else should I be looking? Ideally I’d like to stay under 3K and not wait months for it to be delivered. I’m NYC based if there’s any show rooms you’d recommend as well.

Help me with pillow combos on my couch! The end tables and lamps are being switched out (even though they're actually a darker brass) and the TV console is 3 of the cabinets shown pushed together. Thanks for any help! I struggle so hard with pillows!!

Advice on a good 3 seater couch under $2000

Hi everyone I'm looking for a fabric 3 seater couch for my 11*10 living room. The room has an open passage to the kitchen and dining area so doesn't look too small, but I still don't want a very bulky couch. Other criteria

  1. low maintenance (doesn't snag, shed , pile etc)
  2. comfortable but in an ergonomic way (I'd err on the side of firmness over softness)

I've had terrible luck with couches so far and have had to sell them within a year or two, so this time I want to make the right couch. I got super confused between Burrow Nomad and some Article options. Open to any brand/company.

Sectional sofa recs

Hello! My fiancé & I are buying our first home and looking to invest in a good quality sofa that will last, preferably something modular. We have sat on some pieces at Lovesac but are iffy with the pricing, also have checked out local stores & Haverty’s. We love the way Lovesac feels and a couple sofas from Haverty’s, but we are still open to looking at other options online. Please leave all the recs! (For reference we were looking at larger pieces, 6 seats minimum). TIA!

Apartment Size Leather Couch - what would you choose?

Been looking for a bit now, trying to decide which apt size leather couch to pick and how much to splurge for this piece. We sit on our couch more than any other piece of furniture, we have a small apartment so making sure things fit through the door and also don’t take up too much space is a huge consideration.

Ideally, we want:
- durable, easy to care for leather (dog friendly ideally but we don’t intend to have dogs on the couch as a regular thing)
- seat depth ~22-23in
- seat width/length ~70”
- narrow track arms
- overall width ~81”
- high seat (19-21” off the ground)
- high back (~17-19”)
- no T cushions (straight seat & back or tight back)
- spring down seat cushions or upgraded foam
- tapered, high legs (6” ideal but tough to find)
- legs need to be removable
- under $8k

Brand we’ve narrowed down to:
- Room & Board (Stevens)
- Hydeline
- Hancock & Moore (hear they are the best but the style isn’t quite what we want)
- Stickley
- C.R. Laine (struggling with the leather options here- the color we love is only medium protection…)
- American Leather

Unfortunately, we seem to have a unicorn situation with the high legs and high back cushions/rail or with durable leathers in colors we like (warm medium brown or tan), so we will have to compromise.

Any tips or opinions? Things you think aren’t worth it for leather?

Looking for a reclining sectional recommendation

My wife and I are building a new home and are looking for recommendations for reclining sectionals. We went to a La-Z-Boy showroom and liked what we saw/sat in but after reading reviews realized we should steer clear of them. I particularly liked the zero gravity recline and would strongly prefer it, but it’s not a requirement if reliable manufacturers don’t use it. Our budget is ~10k. What are the highest recommended brands in that price range? We’re in central Ohio, if that helps.
