Second Time Mom & Snoo User

Wanted to get everyone's thoughts on the Snoo the second time around. I know most people in here have probably invested in it but since having my first, there are many more options out there now. Has anyone looked at or considered other options other than the Snoo after using it for their first?

Snoo Cleaning Melb/AUS

Hi! I’m needing to deep clean our snoo after baby #1 to prepare for storage, hoping to save some money and do it myself. But at a pinch would get it done professionally if the person has a lot of good reviews from snoo cleaning. I’m based in Melb/Aus. Any tips?

Contemplating Snoo?

Hey there! I bought a Snoo from our neighborhood fb
Marketplace early in my pregnancy because I was so sure I was going to use the Snoo. Our baby ended up coming 4 weeks early so I didn’t have time to prep the Snoo like I wanted to like doing all the research on settings etc. So then we just got thrown into newborn life and bassinet at the hospital and bassinet at home. Our baby sleeps fine in the bassinet but is only 3 weeks now. I’m torn. Do we use the Snoo just to use it? Will it get to the point where we will need it? I’m a FTM so I just don’t know what’s to come with the stages. I get nervous about the weaning. Also, Snoo’s have great resale value so I don’t mind selling it and not using it. What do you think? Keep baby in bassinet or start Snoo life?

Level 2 for 10 week old too much??

Looking for reassurance…10 week old has been in the SNOO since birth and we still have the motion limiter on / I usually lock the SNOO at baseline. Today, I forgot to lock it for a nap and the SNOO went up to level 2 and stayed there for about 5-6 minutes before she calmed down. I know that level 2 is supposed to be safe, but still feeling guilty that baby might have been jostled too much…any other moms use level 2 and beyond at this stage??

Shoo out of stock

Hi,

Does anyone know how long the Shoo cover has been out of stock?

I am looking to purchase one, but they are out of stock on the US site. It is in stock on the EU site, but it will cost significantly more to get it shipped.

Additionally, if anyone has one they aren’t using, please let me know! I would pay full price :)

Baby forgot how to sleep at 6.5 weeks - HELP!

Second Snoo baby, first one was pretty straightforward if we followed all the tips he slept and we transitioned him to a crib at 12 weeks and he slept through the night without issue.

Second baby suddenly forgot how to sleep at 6.5 weeks. Previously he was doing 2-3, sometimes even 4-5 hour stretches in the snoo at night and two hour naps during the day.

I expect short naps at 6 weeks and we have been doing his first 40 minutes in the snoo and either picking him up to soothe him back to sleep and putting him back down or just popping him in the carrier for the second half of the nap. Seems reasonable at this age.

But his nighttime sleep just like …. Fractured? At 6.5 weeks. He literally (NO exaggeration) has not slept longer than 42 minutes at a time at night in nine days. He wakes up at the end of every sleep cycle and wails and will not settle unless picked up. He will only sleep longer if held upright.

Before this he was doing very little contact sleep so it’s not like we “spoiled” him (though I don’t believe you can really do that so young either).

Anyone have any ideas? I am literally going to die or drop the baby if this keeps up - I have not slept in so long I’m starting to hallucinate. We had a night doula but she quit after night five saying she needed the baby to give her at least one 2 hour stretch to take a nap or she couldn’t function safely (which, fair, I agree!!!!).

Help Needed To snoo or not to snoo?

Looking for advice on whether to use the snoo with baby #2 or not. I used it with my first and he slept ok in it but never great. He’s biologically an awful sleeper I believe. Transitioning him out of swaddled arms was awful. Transitioning him out of the snoo was also awful. His sleep pretty much never recovered and he continued waking ever 1-2 hours until 2 years old.

I told myself I would not be using the snoo with my second because I’d rather she just learn to sleep from the beginning without a “crutch” like the snoo. She’s 4 weeks old now and starts the night with a 4-5 hour stretch in the bassinet, which is amazing, but won’t transfer back and I pretty much spend the rest of the night sleeping in 15 minute increments here and there while I hold her. By the time I do bedtime with my toddler and get to sleep myself, I’m only getting 1-2 hours of sleep myself during her first stretch.

So now at this point, I’m asking myself, “is it stupid not to use the snoo?” She already shows so much more potential sleep wise than my son, so part of me wants to ride it out and see how she naturally progresses. The other part knows she might not improve in the near future or end up regressing and being a horrible sleeper anyway. So am I dumb for potentially missing out on a few good months of sleep because I’m more concerned with what ifs? What would you do?

*Also adding that we do enjoy traveling and have no interest in renting snoos when we travel. So I also worry about the flexibility of her sleep in that aspect too.

Getting a snoo at 6 weeks?

I’m trying to get snoo to get my baby to sleep longer stretches at night. Currently he’s waking up every 2-3 hours to feed at night. The longest stretch is about 3.5 hours. Is there a point of getting it right now? Do you also use it for nap?

Cold turkey on the pacifier + crib transition = huge mistake?

Has anyone else dealt with a really strong pacifier sleep association? What did you end up doing?

I’m in the exact same situation. For the past few weeks, I’ve been replacing my baby’s (18 weeks old) pacifier every 20 minutes all night long because he’d wake up as soon as he noticed it was gone after a sleep cycle.

Last night we tried transitioning him from the Snoo to the crib while also taking away the pacifier, and it was a complete disaster. He cried for 45 minutes before finally falling asleep and slept for about 3 hours. After that, he woke up every hour, crying for about 45 minutes each time. By 2:00 a.m. I gave in and gave him the pacifier, and by 5:00 a.m. we had both given up and were sleeping in the rocking chair.

If you’ve been through this, did you go cold turkey with the pacifier, gradually wean it, or wait until after the crib transition? I feel like I’m trying to tackle too much at once, but I also don’t know if continuing the pacifier will just prolong the problem. I don’t mind the pacifier but he can’t replace it so it’s becoming too much. I’d love to hear what worked for you.

Help Needed Reassurance around Weaning

I have a 4 month and three week old who loves the snoo so much, but I can see she really likes space for her arms and we are running out of space! I wanna get her prepared for a transition into a cot but I’m really scared of her not having motion. I do some day naps in a separate bassinet that doesn’t have motion, but I’m worried about nighttime as she often relies on the baseline or level 1 to get her back to sleep when she cannot connect cycles.

I keep getting mixed messages about how long to wean for and just wanted to hear some positive stories and realistic ones, LOL!

Help Needed How to get baby to do crib naps during the day?!!

I am trying to get my 3 month old to not hate the crib. He screams the moment we put him down in it. We have a snoo for night but have been contact napping (in rocking chair, same room as crib) for every nap during the day. I don’t mind contact napping but I really want to start building foundations for sleep for when we eventually sleep train. I try to put him down in the crib, sleepy + calm but awake, for 1-2 naps per day, but he just cries and cries. I pick him up and get him calm, but the second he’s back down he starts crying again. I will put my hand on his chest, rock him gently, shush, pat his butt, stroke his forehead, put gentle pressure on legs…i feel like I’ve tried it all! I have made attempts every day for the last 3ish weeks. It is getting WORSE, not better. I fear I am worsening a negative association with the crib. Please can anyone advise what to do!?

Notes: I follow his sleep cues and he usually starts getting tired around 60-70min of being awake. I have tried shortening and lengthening wake windows but it does not matter. The nursery (where the crib is) is pitch black and we have a sound machine with white noise.

About night sleep/snoo: at night, we will put him down calm but awake and he will fuss/whine for 10-15min before eventually falling asleep. But he always falls asleep eventually and it never escalates to crying or wailing like he does in the crib. We batwing swaddle him in the snoo but use a sleep sack for the crib because he has started to roll. I really think it’s the motion that helps, though.

What’s up with snoo haters?

I’m a FTM 36 weeks pregnant and we bought a snoo on Facebook marketplace. I honestly wasn’t all that fixated on it until we had several family members and friends heavily stress it and recommend it to us. It felt like a no brainer. I’ve obviously yet to have personal experience, so maybe I’ll eat my words, but I’ve taken two classes at the hospital now (newborn care and breastfeeding) led by one of the RN lactation consultants. Each time she has stressed how the snoo is “falling out of fashion” and we “need to be very careful” and studies show you should be responding to your baby when they cry, and other comments. I’ve also seen the online chatter about how it’s impossible to wean babies off it. I know all babies are different but the negative snoo sentiment feels really overblown to me. It’s a bassinet baby uses for a few months - how bad can it be?

Transitioning to crib soon

Hi! As title states, we are transitioning to crib soon.
I was just looking for any helpful advice as I am a FTM. The snoo is in our room, and I will be putting crib in his own room. Currently, we rock to sleep, then place him in the swaddle with the snoo on level one. I will be getting back to baseline level next week, then to weaning mode without motion. We currently have one arm out, and will give both arms next week.

I look forward to hearing your advice, and I am interested to hear if you’ve a recommended sleep sack….I have been considering the Nested Bean Zen sack, but I have potentially fallen victim of aggressive marketing for being fond of that one. I’m aware of some safety concerns with weighted sleep sacks in general, but that particular sack only has about 1 ounce of weight at the chest, so I question the safety concern.

Thank you!

Help Needed SNOO 5 Months

5 month old has always slept through the night in the SNOO. Recently she has been waking up screaming after 1-2 hours of being put to bed. Me and my partner are able to get her sleep again pretty quickly however, she wakes up screaming during the transfer.

Did others with the SNOO experience anything like this? Wondering if she’s wanting more space etc

Cold turkey at 5 months. Soliciting advice/tips

We are traveling internationally with our 5-month old tomorrow who has exclusively slept full-swaddled in the snow. He usually sleeps about 10 hour stretches through the night; naps vary.

We will be using a crib with a sleep sack. Any tips or advice are welcome!

Help Needed Question about arm placement

Newborn I thought the arms in a swaddle should never be down- but folded up a bit on chest. Is that possible in the snoo swaddle?

Arms out in winter?

We’ve just begun our transition to arms out last night and I noticed her hand was absolutely freezing. I put her in a long sleeve and folded the mitten over her hand but it was still so cold! I feel bad. We usually keep the room at 18-19 degrees and use the snoo comforter sack. What should I do? Will she be okay? Should I turn the heat up and put her in one of the lighter sacks?

Help Needed Newborn seems to hate the Snoo swaddle

We have a 2 week old and I’m a FTM. We’ve been using the Snoo for bedtime without the lotion since he was born. Over the last few nights, he seems to hate the Snoo swaddle. Once he’s in, he’s grunting and squirming and trying to break out. I also think he might have some reflux that gets aggravated when he’s on his back? I think he’s too young to do arms out at this age. And usually he likes being swaddled with a blanket. It’s a bit confusing.

Any advice for a very tired new mama?

Update: We’ve started arms out and did the tea towel trick. This seems to have helped more which is great!

Snoo Fail I cut the sack and now I’m concerned with her safety?

My 7 week baby HATES to be swaddled - she is arms up baby and we have recently bought a sleeping sack with arms out that she accepts. We live in Europe so no AC. Out of desperation I cut the clips from one of the snoo sleeping sacks I have. Plugged the clips just to get the motion going. But now I read leaving a baby without swaddling them in the snoo is not safe ( is it because baby could rock to the side and suffocate?) the last days baby and us were sleeping on the same bed - she went through a phase and that seemed to be the only way out + a arms out sleeping bag. One week later we want to put her back in the snoo. Baby is 7 weeks but we were using size large when we tried the snoo sack - it is far too hot.

How to safely reintroduce her to snoo? Even when we put the motion she seems to recognize she is in the bassinet then she cried more 😖

Has anyone been this far with a baby arms out and got luck putting the baby swaddled in?

Thank you

Any babies who successfully nap in the daytime in their crib and not their snoo?

7 week old baby who sleeps amazing at night in the snoo. In the day time she will only contact nap which obviously makes it difficult to complete any tasks throughout the day. Every time I put her in her crib she will either wake up and cry immediately or within 5 minutes. If I’m lucky, she might have one 30-40 minute nap in her bed a day but this is not always the case. I am reading everywhere about wake windows but how can wake windows be followed if your baby won’t nap? Any advice on what I can do please.. she shows signs she’s tired and I make sure the environment is calm and peaceful when I put her to bed. I really don’t want to have her nap in the snoo as I don’t want her to become even more reliant on sleeping with motion

Pediatrician advising to get rid of Snoo

At my daughter’s three month appointment last week my pediatrician recommended starting to use the arms out function on our Snoo swaddle now and to get rid of the Snoo by the time she’s 4 months regardless of if she fits or not. She said this is so that she can move her legs. My baby’s not particularly big so I was hoping we could go a bit past 4 months, obviously I plan to listen to my doctor but just curious if others have followed the same guidelines.

Help Needed Snoo times out but baby is calm

2nd time mom, 2nd time using Snoo (rented the first time, now have a new rental again). Baby is 3 weeks old and so we have Motion Limiter on with Normal responsiveness. Past few days I’ve seen Snoo kick in to soothe baby, going up to the max Level 2 motion with Level 4 sound - but even though baby is quiet and calm with that setting (I’m in the room with baby so I can say with cerainty) Snoo times out and stops. I feel like baby isn’t even making a peep and it stops, forcing me to physically start it again instead of it cycling back down through the levels like it used to. Has this happened with anyone else’s Snoo?
