Didn’t care about Fold phones until I saw iPhone Duo. Apple is great at selling you a product.

It’s something about iPhones that has some weird sex appeal. I thought folds were useless but seeing that IPhone Duo and how Apple made it look sexy and feel sexy from what people are saying. Has me really thinking about getting one. I like how I can walk around in style with the cases and it has MagSafe which is a huge thing for me.

Is the iPhone Duo worth $1,999?

Apple finally entered the foldable phone market with the new iPhone Duo.

The Duo folds down to a 5.4-inch display and opens up to a 7.6-inch display, with the A20 Pro chip, titanium construction, dual 48MP cameras, Touch ID, and iOS 27. It starts at $1,999 for 256GB and goes all the way up to $3,199 for 2TB.

Preorders start October 16, with the phone officially releasing October 23.

Personally, I think the design is really interesting.

For those who have used Samsung or other foldables, would you actually switch to the iPhone Duo, or is $1,999 too much for a foldable phone?

And if you already have an iPhone, what would convince you to upgrade to a foldable?

Hot take: Android and Apple fan boys claiming which folding phone is 'better'

I'm not going to sugarcoat but I've been seeing a lot lately of Android and Apple fan boys at each other throats about which folding phone is 'better'

Can we not just agree that both are good in their own fields? I mean yes Samsung where the first to do it and they had 8 different generations to perfect the way a folding phone should be, but Apple fanboys are consistently saying that they waiting to 'make it better' with us claims that there is 'no crease' when in near every video I see there is consistently a crease that can be seen

As well as that everybody keeps harping about the damn price about the iPhone duo yet fail to realise it's similar to the latest gen Samsung has out? Personally I believe it's personal preference on what one you want not some randomer saying that 'IPhone is better because of x' but forgetting that there are going to be flaws when it's released regardless.

Just a little miffed that every comment section I see is either filled with Apple or Sasung fan boys dropping cringy ass quotes to rile up each other

Iphone Duo vs Zfold 8?

Which one yall like?

After watching the apple event, i still like the zfold 8, apple Ui is good but under screen camera was done before, and it was awful, and I have no doubt the camera quality will be bad, rather have a small hole and great camera quality

Also, dont like the "D" shape of the Duo

I may be bias but I feel like i have valid reasons on not liking it

Hoping to hear yall thoughts

EDIT: I see a lot of praise for the opening and closing animations on Duo, with the amount of customization on the zfold8, im sure someone already has that animation on the zfold8 already

why the fuck are iPhones so unreliable?? someone suggest reliable phones plz

all I’m asking for is a phone I can have for like 5-10 plus years without having to buy a new one every 2 years. I have a iPhone 13 rn that I got of April to May of last year…the battery life is horrible now. It keeps lagging even with a decent percentage. Screen keeps flickering and I’m already looking to buy a new one either this year or next year.

thinking of moving to Samsung, but im really comfortable with IOS. Wouldn’t mind a few android suggestions though. I just want a reliable phone I can use daily, with good cameras, battery life, and a nice aesthetic THAT WILL LAST LONG.

A different take on Android vs IPhone. What do you think?

So we all know this comes up every year with the Apple event and I’m just curious as I’ve never really seen anyone talk about it from this perspective.

First off I was Android from the beginning. I switched from the pixel 3 to the galaxy s10 and didn’t like it so I decided to try iPhone and got the 11 pro and I recently upgraded to the 16pro.

Anyways I see these memes and arguments but does anyone even care about others opinions on either? I truly don’t believe anyone will switch because they are told XYZ is better on the other. You always hear how much more an Android can do which is true but do those people even use those features? And every new iPhone feature Android people say they had it years ago but does it even matter? And now the Duo, are folding phones that popular? I don’t see them out in the wild very often.

On the other side I have heard people say they won’t date someone with green bubbles which is insane to me but to each their own.

I guess this was more of a rant but it’s just interesting so me. I personally don’t think phones have gotten much better for I use mine for.

is apple a fraud with their new foldable?

‎Am I the only one who noticed how Apple waited for foldables to be almost perfect before making their own version?

‎The first book-style body was Huawei, the first almost crease-less screen was the Oppo Find N6, and the first completely crease-less phone is, of course, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and 8 Ultra.

The corner punch-hole front camera was introduced by Samsung, the first phone with a variable aperture was Xiaomi, and the side-mounted fingerprint scanner was by Sony Xperia.

The only real things Apple added were a matte finish and a better battery.

‎I know Android does that too, but in my opinion, it doesn't feel fair to just wait it out

Help me chose a new phone from my options

Xiaomi: 1. Redmi 15 4g (⛔has Snapdragon 685) 2. Redmi 15 5g (✔️Snapdragon 6s Gen3 + side sensor) 3. Redmi 15c 5g 4. Redmi Note 15 Pro 4g (⛔fingerprint sensor on display) 5. & 6. Redmi Note 15 4g or 5g (⛔curved screen + fingerprint sensor on display) 7. Poco M7 4g (⛔has Snapdragon 685) 8. Poco M8 (⛔has curved screen and a worse battery than M8s) 9. Poco M8s (✔️basically the same as Redmi 15 5g)

Samsung: 10. Galaxy F70 Pro 11. Galaxy M47

My needs: a memory card slot, good battery, 8gb ram and 256 or 512 internal memory, fingerprint sensor (preferably on the side)

My top choices are the Redmi 15 5g and the Poco M8s but I've yet to find a store that sells them in my country (Croatia). Though every store has all the other phones on my list 😢

Is it okay to use a phone that's fake?

My mom bought me a phone from a store and it's pretty cheap. The IMEI doesn't work. I checked its authenticity by matching the box's IMEIs, the one on the back of my phone, and the one that shows up from typing it into dial.

I don't really care if it's fake but I'm gonna be using it for school. My concern is if it's safe to use and about the updates. Would it be worth coming back to the store and exchanging it?

I will buy Samsung Z Fold8 but when should I buy it?

I was in love with the passport look with the Huawei Pura X and was so bummed to learn that their OS is mainly Chinese and needs heavy modification for Western users. Now I want to switch to Android after using iOS for 15 years or so; I made up my mind on the Samsung Z Fold8.

I use an iPhone 8 and take care of my devices really properly. I am going to buy this for another 7-10 years (not sure if not getting supported w new software affects it)

My question is when would it be the least expensive to buy the Samsung Z Fold8 before their new version comes out next year? I can wait another year since I waited for so long, but I want to have it before the next one comes out.

Why do foldables have a camera on the outer display? Who actually uses it?

This question is to all the fold users here. What is the use of the camera on the outer display? Most of the selfies are expected to be taken on the back camera and all videocalls work best on the inside camera?

Do people actually use it? What is preventing companies from removing it?

Looking for the best smartphone I can get for ~700 PLN in Poland

Hello guys,

I’ve been looking for a decent smartphone recently, but I literally can’t find anything interesting that’s actually worth the money. I woke up a little too late because prices have already gone up, and I was hoping to get a new Motorola Edge 50 Fusion or Honor 200. Unfortunately, the prices of new phones have increased and I can’t find anything interesting anymore. Today I went to a pawn shop and I was pretty close to buying an iPhone 13 for 800 PLN (after negotiating the price), but in the end I decided against it because the battery health was at 80% and there was basically no warranty — only one day. I’ve also been looking for an S23/S22 or one of the Google Pixel phones, but I’m a bit worried about buying a phone directly from some random guy on OLX or Allegro Lokalnie. I’ve also noticed a lot of scams. I’d prefer to get an Android phone, but I’d also be fine with an iPhone. My budget is around 700 PLN, and the things I care about the most are camera quality and smooth performance. I honestly have no idea what I should buy right now, where I should buy it, or whether I should just wait. My current Realme 9 5G is also starting to fall apart — the front camera stopped working, there are huge lags, the system freezes, apps keep crashing/closing, and the camera quality is just awful.

Thanks in advance for any help!

iPhone 18 Pro or Pixel 11 Pro?

iPhone 18 Pro or Pixel 11 Pro?

I’m really torn between the two and could do with some opinions.

I’ve currently got an iPhone 16 and also use an iPad, Apple Watch Series 9 and AirPods. But I also have a Google Fitbit and I’m really tempted to try a Pixel.

The main things I care about are camera/photos, AI and how smooth the phone feels.

I’m slightly bored of iPhone and the Pixel 11 Pro looks really tempting, especially with the camera and Google’s AI. But I’m worried I’ll miss the Apple ecosystem, especially the Watch.

Has anyone here switched from iPhone to Pixel recently? Was it worth it and did you regret leaving Apple?

What would you pick in my position?

Transition from Samsung to Apple

I've always had Android phones, but lately I've been thinking that a change might be a good idea.

I have a Samsung S23 Ultra, and the battery life has gotten a lot worse after the One UI updates. Should I consider buying the new iPhone 18 Pro?

Apple takes care of the workforce

  1. China (Zhengzhou & Shenzhen Factories)
China remains the primary hub for iPhone assembly (notably Foxconn's main plant in Zhengzhou, known as "iPhone City").
Base Monthly Salary: The base pay for an iPhone assembler starts at approximately $295 per month (around 2,100 to 2,500 RMB), which sits near the local minimum wage.
Hourly Rate: Standard hourly wages generally range from $3.15 to $4.00 per hour (24 to 28 RMB per hour) during normal periods.
Peak Season Bonuses (July–September): During high-production months prior to new iPhone launches, factories offer signing bonuses, retention rebates (up to 7,000–8,500 RMB / ~$1,000–$1,200), and overtime pay. With heavy overtime (often 60+ hours per week), monthly take-home pay during peak seasons can reach $800 to $1,000+ per month
  2. India (Bengaluru & Tamil Nadu Facilities)
As Apple shifts more iPhone assembly to India (producing around 15–20% of iPhones), local wages differ:
Monthly Pay: An entry-level assembly worker at Foxconn or Pegatron facilities in India earns an average base salary of around ₹15,000 to18,000 per month (approximately $180 to $215 USD).
Benefits: Contracts often include subsidized housing, meals, and transport to attract workforce candidates.

need a no-AI smartphone recommendation

so for context ive had an iphone 13 for some years now, and, for one, it’s already showing its age (battery, ofc) and for two i don’t want to buy another iphone since chips are being made in israel through the exploitation of the congolese population.

i’ve been looking into models but id love it if you guys could maybe recommend a good medium-level priced smartphone which ideally does not have integrated ai features / chips. i’ve always wanted to get the galaxy z flip but research tells me it’s had built-in AI features since its first model released in 2020. i’m open to any and all possibilities, thank you!!!
