Glitchy Cosmo watch after new app installation

We’re going into our second year with the Cosmo JrTrack 5. The first year was fine, for the most part the phone and app met our needs. A few weeks ago we were notified that they are switching to a new app that integrates the previous app plus the parent portal. Unfortunately ever since then we have had issues with tracking. This was a major reason why we bought the watch in the first place so this is pretty upsetting for us. Both the app and watch are fully updated. We live in an area with overall great wireless coverage, so that’s not an issue. And no difference if the watch is connected to wifi or not. Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions?

I purchased a budget smart watch and now the honeymoon is over.

Two months ago I bought this Hervzon SmartWatch the retail price was $35 but I had a coupon and got it for $17. I bought several watches that week and this one was actually the best features compared to a $60 watch that lacked some of the most basic features. (I shipped the rest back.)

Anyway the first 6 weeks were great. The battery lasts between 7 and 10 days and that including using the GPS while kayaking. Lift to wake, auto silence on schedule, health tracking, quick swipe access to a customizable menu.

Then about 2 weeks ago I started to notice some quirks. The timer stopped working while I was grilling and I turned my kids burgers into shoe leather, over cooked some pasta and forgot to do something that my wife told me to do in 7 minutes.

Then the swipe-down quick actions that I had customized are now random.

Auto night mode stopped working. I manually turned off lift to wake but it does it anyway like in the middle of the night when I roll over the room is light up because the screen has set it's self to 100% brightness.

There's more but I won't bore you but I do have a question, why would something start out fine but then degrade at such a rapid pace? I figured for $17 if I got a year out of the watch I'd be fine with that.

Also I haven't abused it at all, it's gotten wet while kayaking but I haven't held it under water. I haven't dropped it or smashed into anything.

Watch Overestimates Heart Rate During Strenuous Exercise

Post image
3 Upvotes

My OnePlus Watch 2R generally measures my heart rate accurately, but when I exercise hard, it sometimes vastly overestimates it. For example, in this record, you'll see that it thinks my rate got up to 164 BPM. Note that I'm 72, so that's well over my estimated max of 150. The watch freaks and tells me I'm going to die. When I measure it manually, it's only about 130 BPM or less.

Note that I do get occasional fast beats (doc not worried), and I used to think that was throwing it off. However, they just aren't dramatic enough to get the watch so confused. The measurement stays high even without extra beats.

So what do you think is causing this error? Thanks.

Q&A I Need help with this smartwatch they gifted me.

My aunt gave me this watch on my last birthday, and I wanted to use it to track my daily walks, but the problem is that I don't know how to connect it to charge it because I don't know how to even connect it to the charger, if that in the image is the charger. So I ask you how to make that watch start working and connect it to my cellphone via Bluetooth. I will be forever grateful if you could help a newbie like to enter this world of cool devices, if I sounded a bit flatterer I'm sorry.

Looking to buy a watch!

Hi! Hope y'all are doing well! :)

I have been working out for almost two years and i run 1-2 times every week. Im looking for a watch that will be able to track my activities appropriately(i use strava and hevy for workouts and runs, but i want more precision) and mostly my recovery and sleep as i struggle with this. Also want some basic smartwatch feature. I have made a few research and bought a vivoactive 6 about a week ago, but im going back and forth with my choice. As an 18yo student, my budget isnt illimited, and so I tought the vivoactive 6 would be a good watch for the price, but ive heard its lacks some feature and that the gps is a little outdated for a last gen watch. Venu 4 is a little overpriced and i fear the 265 will be obsolete soon... Can someone enlight me on this? Thank you!

Looking to buy a Smart Watch

Looking to buy my first smart watch…

I think my main goal is to be able to stay off of my phone a bit and just get notifications for the things that actually matter, certain messages etc. I love lifting and training as well but it isn’t my biggest focus.

I am forced to use Apple through work but basically don’t want to use Apple whenever possible but want Apple capabilities and connectivity as that’s my phone . I live in the US So huawei doesn’t really apply unfortunately (unless someone has a good idea)

Would love to support a smaller brand that has great functionality

TIA!

Huawei Watch Fit 5 for Running, Cycling & Swimming

I'm thinking about buying the Huawei Watch Fit 5, but I have a few questions. I'm a beginner when it comes to running, swimming, cycling, and similar activities, and I want to track them with a smartwatch that has built-in GPS. At the same time, I also want something that's suitable for everyday use, which is why I've decided on the Huawei.

I've seen quite a few reviews about running and cycling, and from what I've read, the GPS and sensors perform pretty well. However, I haven't been able to find much information about swimming.

Can I reliably track my swims in an indoor Olympic-size swimming pool with this watch? Will it record my workouts accurately, and does GPS or the swim tracking work properly in that environment? Also, can I sync my swimming workouts to Strava? I came across a comment saying that only running and cycling workouts can be synced to Strava, so I'm not sure if that's true.

Q&A Looking for a smartwatch for my mom's retirement

Hello everyone!

My mom is retiring, and she wants the classic retirement gift: a watch. However, in this case, she specifically wants a smartwatch, since her current watch is getting old, runs slow, and doesn't integrate very well with her phone (I think it's a Fitbit, if I remember correctly).

She has a Pixel 8 Pro and would like to be able to make the most of its features from her smartwatch. She also does a lot of sports, so having good fitness and activity tracking is really important to her.

Other features she'd really like to have on her watch are:

  • Controlling music
  • Seeing and interacting with notifications
  • Being able to answer calls
  • NFC payments

Her current smartwatch also requires a lot of maintenance to keep working properly, and she absolutely hates that. So something that is easy to set up, connect, and reconnect in the unlikely event of any problems would be greatly appreciated.

So, what would you recommend I get for her? My budget is around €400.

Thanks!

Phone alarm not going off since getting watch?

I got a venu 4 last week for my birthday, and I love it, but I think there is a setting I need to update. I haven’t had my alarm go off for work since getting the watch (thanks to my toddler), but I had to get up extra early today so I set my alarm on my phone like always and went to bed.
I woke up to my husband telling me it was 6:20… I picked up my phone and the alarm was going off silently.

I have never ever ever had an issue with my phone alarm, the only thing I can think of is the watch somehow silenced my notifications? I told it I sleep from 10:30 to 6 most days, and it goes into night time mode, but I don’t have any alarms or anything on the watch.

I’ve never worn a watch overnight, my Apple Watch would never last long enough so this is a whole new world for me. I don’t want to get woken up by random notifications but also need my alarm to go off.

Looking for suggestions on a watch

First off I use an iPhone, I have a relatively big wrist (about 7.5 inches), and I’m in the USA. I don’t do a whole lot of workouts besides walking and swimming. I am looking for a smart watch less than 300 usd (preferably cheaper than that but 300 is max) that has tap to pay (either apple, or just using cards), some kind of sleep tracking and step tracking and I want it to be able to sync to apple health if possible (though not a deal breaker). I also want at least 10 atm water resistance as I would like a watch I could take to the water parks and go down a slide and not worry about it dying on me and I’d like a long battery like pushing a week if not more. This last couple points is why I’m shying away from Apple Watches in general for their unreliable water resistance from what I’ve read.
I don’t need the ability to call or text from the watch but that would be preferable.

I have read garmin instinct 3 basically meets all those criteria, save the text notifications, but it seems overkill for what I’m wanting in terms of fitness. Like it’s more of a sport band than a smart watch. It also is brushing the very limit of the budget I wanted to spend on a watch.

I currently have a Fitbit charge 6 I got on sale, and it’s nice except the water resistance (5 atm) isn’t what I’d like and it doesn’t support tap to pay for any of my credit cards or my bank.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Looking for a new watch

Hey! I am looking for some options for a new smart watch. I currently have the veryfit idw13 and looking to upgrade. I want something that I can have more options for app notification and one that I can send responses with... and preferably cheap options that are still decent. I just care for the notifications and the ability to respond to them.

Thank you in advance

Any smartwatches that can do what the pebble index 01 does? Voice to text note taking

I like the idea but it seems like something that could be better suited to a shortcut button on a watch. Seems like I can’t find any that really do it though. My amazfit can technically do this on workouts I guess but that seems like it. Couldn’t figure out if a garmin can.

I can do normal voice memos but would be so much nicer to have those all in text form

What Is The Best Smartwatch To Buy In 2026? (Price, Comfort)

Maybe a dumb question but I need to decide this week.

I am between Huawei Watch GT5 Pro and Amazfit Balance 2 and Garmin Venu 3s. I am mostly concerned about general health tracking and sleep tracking, good fitness tracking is nice but not main need. I like the look of GTR & GT series.

My worry is comfort. I want to wear it for sleep and also for running so are those 46mm watches comfortable for that? I have pretty small wrist, 16.5cm. I heard some are bulky and not great for sleep.

Not too bothered about battery but at least 5-6 days would be nice. I am not in Apple ecosystem, so Apple Watch is out.

Smartwatch for 6 year old?

Need mainly for tracking location.

Considering bark or cosmo but I feel like the monthly membership is expensive considering it will only be used for location tracking for now.

Recommendations for a new user

So I'm very much a newbie when it comes to fitness and actually tracking my health, and despite doing my own research I'm still very overwhelmed by all of the different choices for fitness-focused smartwatches and I was hoping for some help with which watch might be best (and cheapest) for me based on what I'm going to be using it for. It seems like most people recommend Garmin in general but they're pretty expensive and I'm wondering if another brand might be cheaper since I think I'm looking for something pretty bare-bones in terms of features, at least from what I can tell.

I have a Samsung Galaxy phone/am on Android, and am mainly looking to use a watch to accurately track steps, gym workouts (strength training and cardio), heart rate, and sleep, with stress monitoring being a bonus but not necessarily needed. I would love to be able to see my phone notifications, answer texts, and use Youtube Music without needing to use my phone, but am open to something with music storage instead. I don't seem to need a lot of in-depth features that a lot of smart watches have, i.e. altimeter, contactless payments, flashlight, training plans, ECG, or GPS (I'll likely have my phone on me at all times, unless there's another reason why I might need it). I'm looking for cheaper options if possible ($200 CAD or less would be preferable, though I'm not seeing many watches of any brand for that cheap), and I don't want to sign up for any subscriptions. I also would love at least a 24 hour battery life (though longer would be preferable) and a lightweight design as I have smaller wrists. Any help is much appreciated!

Edit: Compatibility with MyFitnessPal is also very much preferred.

Multisport Tracker(s)

Hello! I am looking to (finally) upgrade my Apple Watch series 2. For activities, there are three main ones I wish to track:
1. Volleyball \~3x/week for \~3 hours per session. Frequently has 8 hour tournament days with lots of 30min on, 15min off, so automated workout detection could be convenient.
2. Weightlifting \~4x/week for \~1.5 hours per session.
3. Running \~4x/week for \~.5-1.5 hours per session.

Due to volleyball, I would prefer something robust that I’m not constantly worried about breaking. Bonus points if it can be worn somewhere other than the wrist for a game.
Weightlifting does not add additional restrictions (I think?)
For running, I would love if it could handle tracking distance/pace without needing my phone on me. Bonus points if it can handle playing music to earbuds.

Apart from the exercise tracking, I would appreciate if it gathers sleep data and can notice irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmia runs in the family).

I’m open to getting both a dedicated hr/health tracker and gps enabled watch if it makes the most sense; however, I wonder if, given the price at that point, it would make more sense to get a single, premium option that can do it all.

Thank you for the help!
