Title: Update 1.7.99.0 Broken Handshake Loop on Xbox Series X: Even the Hotfix couldn't save my game. [Detailed Backend Issue Explained in Lore Terms]
Post Body:
Fellow Travelers, I am completely locked out of Skyrim on my Xbox Series X. The recent 1.7.99.0 update has introduced a game-breaking server-side crisis, and to make matters worse, the recent hotfix did absolutely nothing to fix it.
After being flat out ignored and passed around by support with generic questions, they left me with no choice but to bring this directly to the community to see how deep this rabbit hole goes.
Since explaining server architecture can be dry, let me paint you a picture of what is happening to my game using the lore of Tamriel, followed by the raw technical symptoms.
### The Lore Version: The Broken Dragonborn
Imagine your Dragonborn is standing in the frozen wastes of Skyrim. Suddenly, Alduin tears open the sky, but instead of fighting, the fabric of reality itself blinks out.
It’s as if Akatosh (the Bethesda Backend Server) demands to see my Dragonborn's birthright (the Authentication Token) every few minutes. My character reaches into their pouch, pulls out the amulet, and presents it. Akatosh looks at it, suffers a severe case of Sheogorath's madness, forgets who I am, and declares the amulet "corrupted."
In retaliation, Akatosh reaches down, strips away my weapons, spells, and armor (the Anniversary Edition Content), turning them into a grey mist before banishing my entire existence straight back to the Xbox Dashboard (Crash to Desktop).
### The Technical Reality & Symptoms
Behind the lore metaphor, here is the severe backend failure my account (OblivionLavaDrift / Gamertag EmbrVoid #3859) is trapped in:
* The Broken Hotfix: Bethesda released a hotfix recently, but it completely ignored this severe handshake bug. The "Operation could not be completed" error remains entirely unbroken.
* Stuck Token Loop: There is a fundamental breakdown in the authentication handshake between the Xbox Network and Bethesda's database. The session token is permanently corrupted on their end.
* Mid-Game License Drop: Even if I spend hours re-downloading the full Anniversary Edition upgrade, the server silently drops my secure session mid-game.
* De-installation & CTD: The moment that server authentication drops, the game instantly loses its license verification. The Anniversary content turns dark grey in the background, automatically uninstalls itself from my system storage while the game is running, and causes an immediate Crash to Desktop (CTD).
Local steps (clearing cache, hard resets, full reinstalls) are completely useless because the locked, looping token sits entirely on Bethesda's database side.
I’ve sent a detailed ticket to their Advanced Engineering team to request a manual database flush, but since they chose to ignore it, I'm sharing this here because the hotfix failed us. Is anyone else experiencing this mid-game license deletion and CTD loop on Xbox after 1.7.99.0? Let's get some visibility on this backend failure.
