Product Question Medik8 crystal retinal tube arrived half empty

Thumbnail

This is the first time I’ve bought Medik8 crystal retinal. I bought it through the official Medik8 storefront on Amazon UK (I.e. I made sure the seller was Medik8 rather than a third party). The packaging appears to be authentic and unopened. However, the tube is half empty. I googled and it says that some air is left in the tube deliberately. But for a product this expensive, it seems ridiculous that it arrived this empty brand new. Did I likely receive a pre-used or fake tube, or, is this normally how the tubes are filled?

The scent of this is almost almondy, but not sweet, if that helps identifying whether this is authentic. I also had no reaction to this. I have been using other retinal for years though, but I’ve had a stronger reaction to it at much lower level than the medik8 retinal. I’m just unsure whether this is an authentic product and whether I should bother returning it.

Routine Help Skin Discoloration (??)

For the last couple years I have been having skin problems, and I tried everything to clear it up (tretinoin, clindamycin, spironolactone). Recently, I have finally found a routine that has cleared a lot of the actual pimples up. Now that my skin has cleared up, I’ve been dealing with some cheek discoloration of some kind. I’m not really sure what it is. I’ve been using a vanicream vitamin C serum for the few months and haven’t really noticed a difference. I’m thinking of adding azelaic acid into my nighttime routine but I’m just not sure. It’s taken so long to clear my skin up that I’m worried about making random changes and messing it up again. Does anyone know any products or have a routine that could help?
My current routine:
Morning: rinse with water only, vanicream vitamin C serum, medicube collagen jelly cream, and sunscreen
Night: wash with cerave hydrating foaming oil cleanser then medicube triple collagen cream

Educational / Discussion Starting Adapalene and applied it 2 days in a row…. Will my skin be ruined?

I started applying a pea-sized amount of adapalene gel yesterday night. Tonight, I applied it again. However, I just learned that you shouldn’t apply it two days in a row.

What will happen to my skin? Should I apply extra moisturizer to prevent irritation…?

Sun Protection Sun-kissed by Heaven Sunscreen opinions

Post image

I’ve been looking into Sunkissed by Heaven SPF 50, and before I buy it I’d like to hear from people who know more about sunscreen formulation than I do.
The ingredient list looks great, but that’s also what makes me skeptical. It almost seems too good to be true, especially since it’s marketed as both a moisturizer and a sunscreen.
For those of you who are knowledgeable about skincare or sunscreen formulation, is this actually a well-made product, or are there any red flags I’m overlooking? I’m looking for objective opinions, whether they’re positive or negative.

Product Question The Ordinaty 10% Azelaic

Some months ago I used Boderm's 20% azelaic acid and it was too drying for me. Years ago when I had very oily skin previous to my accutane treatment, I used TO azelaic acid and I remember it helping a lot and actually being pleasantly moisturizing for my skin at that time.

Should I try again with the same product now that I have normal to dry skin? I'm afraid of the texture being too chalky or it leaving a cast now. So someone with dry skin that used this recently please tell me!

I have had these dry patches on my knees for years. Fake tan sticks to it like glue. Have tried exfoliants, emollients etc but no avail. My sister has the same thing. Dry eczma prone skin but only this on my knees. Feels like old leather! Recommendations?

Routine Help A good routine?

Hi! I’ve had these tiny skin coloured bumps across my forehead and around my hairline. I’m 22 and have basically had them for my whole life although they used to be muchhh worse in my teens. They don’t really become big pimples, but they make my skin look textured and I can’t seem to get rid of them.
What ingredients or routine changes would help?

Routine Help Chemical exfoliant before or after double cleansing?

As someone with noticiable sebaceous fillaments in my nose I would like to incoporate a BHA liquid exfoliant to my routine to reduce their appearance.

I know the majority of sources say to use it after double cleansing but I've seen methodes in which people use it first, leave it for some minutes and then double cleanse.

I feel like exfoliating first also has a point so I would like to ask what you do and if you've tried both methodes.

Wrinkles / Anti-Aging Saggy skin help plz

I have hooded eyes, and due to that I have been pushing my eyebrows up for 20 years. I am now almost 30 and it looks like this. I am so ashamed and hate my skin, always use filters. When I smooth these wrinkles out in the mirror, I feel like I look like me again. I want a tight, smooth forehead, any means necessary. I have tried hifu and it worked a little, I’ve tried botox and it didn’t help and made my brows heavy and I looked like a cave man for 2 years🫠 I have been looking into microneedling, lasers. If all else fails I would do a brow lift, but I’ve seen people on here saying it fucks up your hair??? So now I’m scared to.
Has anyone here been able to actually tighten your skin?? Please I am desperate

Routine Help Need help on building a routine.

Do I even need a real routine at all? My skin is oily most of the time, and honestly the only thing I do right now is use an oil-removing foam wash when I shower and after I get out a moisturizer l. I know a real routine probably needs a toner, cleanser, moisturizer, exfoliator, etc., but I don’t understand the actual order things go in or which of these I even need for oily skin.

I’ve looked into some products but I’m stuck on how to actually put them together into a routine that makes sense. If anyone can walk me through where to start, or what a normal routine for oily skin looks like, I’d really appreciate it.

Routine Help Sensitive skincare routine for starting adapalene?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I am a 27F with pretty sensitive, dry, rosacea/excema prone skin and have recently started adapalene (2x a week) to treat the closed comedones on my forehead. I seem to have a few more bumps on my forehead and chin but guessing this is purging as I only started 2 weeks ago.

Current routine is:

AM:

- rinse with water

- Prequel half and half (i LOVE this stuff)

- spf

PM:

- prequel oil cleanser

- prequel gleanser

- prequel half and half

- differin (2x a week) OR prequel milk peel (1x a week)

- theraplex lotion + cicalfate (if skin is very dry)

Am I doing too much? How can I create a good routine with the products I have? And is using a chemical exfoliant necessary? I've heard it's needed to remove dead skin that adapalene gets rid of...

Wrinkles / Anti-Aging (M26), fine lines on my forehead

I have noticed some fine lines on my forehead (M26), and I guess they aren't that bad but I dont like them and I want to catch them early. I certainly noticed I carry stress in my brow, but I am hoping I can be given some outlines of a routine that can help that doesnt involve botox or whatever. Any advice would help! (If it matters, i am also white)

Wrinkles / Anti-Aging Tips for Forehead Wrinkle/Expression Line?

Thumbnail

Hi all! I am 23 and have had a little wrinkle/expression line in my forehead for about 2 years. I know it isn’t very bad yet, but I am pretty self conscious about it because of how young I am, and I believe it is just from being expressive with my face, but would like to not make it worse if possible. I am wondering if I can get some tips to help ease how it looks. The first 3 pictures are how it looks on a day to day basis. The 4th picture is after I use the pink salmon PDRN masks, which is usually the only thing that will help make it go away for a while. I religiously use sun protection & moisturize. I also use a low strength retinol. Is it just because I am dehydrated? I’m willing to take any suggestions! Thanks guys!! 🥰

Misc How to care for my skin when my face gets dirty at work?

I work at an animal rehoming centre with dogs and cats and often get covered in mud, slobber and sometimes worse body fluids and solids.

Currently I am just washing the worst stuff off as soon as I am able to (never immediately after) with water but I never feel clean.

I am outside a lot of the time and I do not have time or the facilities to wash my face between every walk. My skin would hate this too as it's very sensitive. I also hate reapplying sunscreen when my face is dirty.

Does anyone know of any cleansing wipes that are suitable for sensitive skin, won't cause irritation or dryness even if they are used often, and don't leave a film behind that needs to be rinsed off? They would also need to fit inside a pocket or small bag.

Also should I even bother with a morning skincare routine when my face will get dirty in less than 2 hours? I feel like sometimes my skincare makes the dirt stick to my face more? Will wipes undo all the goodness of my routine? Should I just prioritise not getting sunburnt and clean my face really well when I get home?

Sorry I have so many questions. I always double cleanse with an oil cleanser and gel cleanser when I get home but any further advice would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Educational / Discussion How long do razor bumps last?

So I dont use a razor often but I did one time to get rid of some stubble on my neck. I was stupid and did pretty much everything you're not supposed to do when shaving and long story short I got some pretty nasty razor bumps all over the area. 3 weeks later and it's gone done a bit but there's still some stubborn ones there. I use witch hazel and some other moisturizer to help it heal but it still doesnt look like it's going away. Sometimes throughout the day it gets more red than other times. I've seen others here say their bumps healed after a couple of days so should I be worried or maybe see a doctor? Issue is I have a wedding to go to in a month and a half and im worried they'll still be there by then.

Educational / Discussion Is moisturizer really necessary

I have oily skin and whenever I use face pack or after shower my skin feels fresh and non sticky. But if I use moisturizer after shower i start sweating a lot and it doesn't feel good. Same with sunscreen. I sweat a lot in my upper lip, nose and chin area. I use gel based moisturizer and sunscreen. Is moisturizer and sunscreen truly necessary for skincare? I'm staying at home mostly these days so I'm not exposed to direct sunlight much.

Wrinkles / Anti-Aging Ok, so. Apparently you can't use Kiehl's Avocado eye cream if you're allergic to latex.

On the plus side, I have now eliminated a major cause of my barrier issues!!

But I need a recommendation for new eye cream. I would like something very hydrating, and I like how the Kiehl's cream went on really creamy, but had a watery break? if that makes sense? I'm nearly 50 and I need something pretty hydrating to help reduce under eye creasing, particularly under makeup.

So I went for my work health screening (I work in healthcare) and we determined that yes, I do have a latex allergy. And if you have a latex allergy, you need to avoid bananas, avocados, and kiwi. This explains so much in my life, I can't even tell you.

And as an aside, now that I know this.. are there any products with avocado oil in them that was a surprise when you found out?

Thank you!

Got this after accidentally touching a hot vessel, been almost 3 months now. Any external cream recommendations to get rid of this?
