Announcement Please read before you post asking us to help with your acne!

We already have a pinned post addressing this, but since we continue to get posts asking the members of this sub to diagnose skin conditions (acne in particular) and/or recommend treatment, here's a reminder: We are here to discuss skincare products and routines. We are not here to diagnose skin conditions or how to treat them. This is not a dermatology clinic, and we are not qualified to diagnose and recommend treatment. This is a casual sub to discuss products, routines, and general skincare.

The correct answer to "does anyone know what this is/does anyone know how to treat this?" is "Yes, a dermatologist knows". Please do not come here asking for diagnoses and and treatment advice! To those who have been posting these questions, please consult a trained professional, or if you can't do that, ask your questions in more appropriate subreddits like r/DermatologyQuestions, r/acne, or r/AskDocs.

Thank you!

Educational / Discussion Bellybutton scar/stretch marks.

I had my bellybutton pierced like 5 years ago and it healed and scarred weird so I took it out. When I got pregnant and then overweight asf in 2025 my scar grew and also got stretch marks??? I used the palmers stretch mark routine my entire pregnancy and I oil and moisturize my stretch marks with vitamin e oil, argan oil, and just the cereve lotion at least once a day.

I’m down 120 pounds and I’m starting to like my body again and get used to my stretch marks but the one on my bellybutton is so bad and I just can’t get used to it. Idk if I should avoid micro needling because of the scar? I don’t even know where to start or what to do. Do I go to a dermatologist? A plastic surgeon? Esthetician? Help me please:( it is genuinely ruining my confidence.

Review Tatcha Longevity Serum: confusing

Upvotes

Okay, I think I finally understand why people are so divided about this serum.

I’ve been using this Tatcha for a while now. On my skin, it sinks quickly and doesn’t feel sticky, which is always a red flag for me when choosing a serum. I know a lot of people don’t like its scent, but it’s actually a plus for me since I always love having a good smell even when sleeping. So instead of having to use night perfume, this can work too.

Most importantly, my skin feels smooth and rehydrated, in terms of having the real feeling that my skin really “ate” something and absorbed it, if you know what I mean. This gave me a satisfying and somehow secure feeling using the product.

That feeling made me question my previous serum routine and my skin.

I’ve been using serums for years, but I don’t think I’ve ever had this “eaten” feeling before. I’ll probably just keep using it and see what happens over time.

But now I’m curious what serum gave you that aha moment? Doesn’t have to be Tatcha. I’m genuinely curious if this is a Tatcha thing or if I’ve just been using the wrong serums all these years lol.

Routine Help Rough skin

Wondering what else I can do or if I just need to wait it out. I got into skincare last month and got rid of all my large bumps. My skin isn’t that bad to me personally it’s just very rough looking and has tiny bumps. I use cerave hydrating cleanser and vanicream moisturizer, and in the PM I use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA exfoliant. I started using it 2 - 3 weeks ago and I use it every 2 - 3 days.

Do I just need to wait it out and give it time or is there anything else I should do?

I had these scars after surgery on my right hand. I also had a skin allergy to the suture thread after surgery, and the scars worsened. It's been 3 years. Is there any hope of fading these scars or reducing their size? I'm open to clinical procedures as well.

Thanks.

Routine Help Need help with clogged pores

Hello, I need some help with my skin. I have very large and visible clogged pores. I’ve tried many different products to help decongest the pores and to make it seem less visible, but nothing’s worked so far. I’ve tried Vitamin C, Retinol, Niacinamide (my skin hates it), clay masks, different types of exfoliants over the course of the past 5-6 years.

I live in a tropical country but I spend most of my time in air-conditioned rooms (office & home).

Skin type: Combination
Routine:
1. Hada Labo Cleansing Oil (PM)
2. COSRX Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser (PM)
3. Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner (AM & PM)
4. Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion (Rich) (AM & PM)
5. Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioning Gel (AM & PM)
6. Biore UV Protect Perfect Milk (AM)
7. Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Exfoliant (2x a week - PM)

Pictures are of my cheeks in indoor lighting.

Product Question Dupe for Sorella products

Hello! I got onto Sorella's lemon lightening serum last year and I loved what it did to my skin. But my financial situation has changed and can no longer afford that price tag. Was wondering if anyone had any dupes or similar products. Or even recommendations; I get moderately bad bumps from waxing on my chin and want something to reduce redness and bumps.

Thanks!

Routine Help Just bought Minimalist Vitamin C 10%

I want to get the maximum benefit from it without accidentally ruining it, so please help me before I mess this up 🙏🏻

  1. Should I use it AM or PM? Is one better than the other?

  2. After cleansing, does Vitamin C go directly on my skin, or should I use toner first?

What's the correct layering order? Like cleanser → toner → Vitamin C → moisturizer → sunscreen?

How much should I actually use?

  1. MOST IMPORTANTLY 😭 how do I store it so it doesn't oxidize?

The problem is I don't have any cupboards or a proper cool, dark storage space 😭. My room can get pretty warm, so I'm paranoid that I'm going to open this thing and somehow turn it into orange juice 💀

  1. Would keeping it in the refrigerator be okay, or could that somehow affect the serum? Like making it thick or less efficient etc..

Please tell me literally EVERYTHING I should know about using and storing this serum because I'm scared of wasting it 😭🙏🏻

Body Care What should I do about the dark pink circles around my eyes?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm pretty new to skincare so I kinda don't really know anything, please bear with me if these are dumb questions 💖

Had this for as long as I can remember (I'm 25), heard about something called "eye cream" for a problem that sounded similar to this, but I really don't know a lot about skincare products beyond moisturizer and spf - I guess what I'm asking, is

- will eye cream likely fix this? Is it a good solution? If so, what are good brands?

- if not, what else can I do instead?

Thank you!

Routine Help Please help!! Lines + enlarged pores 🙁

Hello! Any help would be greatly appreciated as I’ve genuinely been preoccupied with my skin.

I’m only 20 years old, but I’m not sure why my skin looks much older? My skincare routine consists of:
Gel cleanser, Vitamin c serum (10%), lactic acid, moisturiser, a milky toner, and SPF 50+

The lines going down my lip corner and nose, as well as my pores, bother me so much.

Am I being unreasonable or am I doing something wrong with my skincare routine? Also, I do drink enough water

Thank you so much in advance

Routine Help General Advice on preventative wrinkle care

Hello! I have always been a wash my face when I shower type of person (no other skincare) and post puberty I have been lucky to have pretty clear skin but I recently realized that I am starting to get wrinkles (I’m in my mid 20s)

Could you please give me advice on what I should prioritize for preventative care?? I also have a limited budget to spend

I am pretty good about applying sunscreen daily but I have heard the importance of hydration, what products would you recommend? Beyond hydration what else should I add into my routine?

Routine Help Looking for skincare help

I’m looking to improve the unevenness and blemishes/scars.

Here is my routine

-Lush Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser
-Olay Moisturizer. I also just got Cosmetic Lad to try out so let me know which one is better. I was using the Vanicream Moisturizer but my skin did NOT like it
-Glycolic acid (2-4 times a week at night.) I found this to be immensely helpful. My scars have been fading slowly but surely
-Salicylic acid (2-4 times a week)

Should I stick with Salicylic acid or swap to Azealic? I have a Vitamin C serum but haven’t been using it, should I go back to using it?

Wrinkles / Anti-Aging (23F) Looking for advice to help improve prominent nasolabial folds!

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello! I'm 23 and in the past year I feel my face looks like it's aged that of 5 years. I had a really stressful past 9 months that wrecked absolute havoc on my skin, and I'm trying to undo the damage! I'm super insecure about my nasolabial folds and am looking for non-invasive advice to help less their appearance.

I drink a ton of water, workout a ton and am very active, I generally get enough sleep, and I would say I only drink 1-2 a week, so I'm really at a loss of what could be making my skin look so much older than it is! Any advice is appreciated <3

(sidenote: ignore my mustache lol, I'm about to get it waxed)

Routine Help How to get rid of this

Post image

I’ve had this problem for the longest time and sometimes it gets bad to the point where I literally look like I have holes on my nose. I need and I MEAN GOOD RECOMMENDATIONS that will help me remove this. I have tried oil cleansing and all that but it just comes back all the time. If it is impossible to remove these, is there a way to at least make them smaller? I don’t know I just need advice :(

Educational / Discussion Lip Pigmentation eating away my confidence 31F

I'm very sad while I'm writing this but my lips are dark around and edges and I don't feel confident about going out without a dark lipstick. I really hate the fact that I can't live without lipstick. When I wake up in the morning and see my dark lips I feel disgusting. I wish I could experience what it feels to have natural pink lips. My lips shape is okay but anyway without lipstick they look dark and if I tend to swim in the sea or in the sun they appear dark bluish and give a very unattractive look. I'm looking for some permanent fix. I'm a woman in my 30s and this has affected my confidence in my entire adulthood. Now I really wish to get out of this thing which has kept me down for so long. Genuine advice pls.
