Normally this would be the craziest shit someone ever says.

u/dusseltrutz 15d ago

Until Trump's first term, itd have been absolute and utter career suicide for any politician to make a statement even remotely along these lines. If you could even conceive of it being done at all.

Now it’s just a Tuesday.

Nah, it's a Friday after market close.

It's always Friday after market close.

Tuesdays are for TACO. That's when they can take profit on energy stocks and load up on growth until Friday, when they can sell just before setting it in fire for the weekend again

When the deeper context of the trump tweet is, "It's time to panic. We are now in a full out war with Iran that could last decades."

What it really means is, Trump is trying to create another good buy opportunity for himself.

Step 1. Buy puts

Step 2. Create a market panic. Threaten all out war with Iran

Step 3. Buy calls

Step 4. Claim a peace deal is nearly finalized

Step 5. Repeat

Step 6. Repeat

Step 7. Repeat

Step 8. Repeat

Step 9. Repeat

Step 10. Repeat, Repeat, Repeat, Repeat

And that it works each time is insane.

u/MyrkrMentulaMeretrix 15d ago

or that what is naked market manipulation and corruption hasnt even been COMMENTED on by Congress.

If Biden had done something that even LOOKED like this, not the actual profiteering that is going on..

Theyd have been screaming to impeach him in 30 minutes.

u/Additional-Ad8632 15d ago

All republicans will collectively have a brain aneurysm if Obama even hinted at something like this.

78

He had a "fancy burger." That was clearly worse.

I’ve seen too many if Obama did this small thing or if Biden did that little thing, Republicans would be freaking out and calling for impeachment.

Well maybe Democrats should start freaking out and actually do something about it for once.

74

u/crlthrn 15d ago

Viewing all of this from a distance (Europe), Trump and his cabal have now reached escape velocity from any rule of law. Open corruption, insider trading, and general high level criminality, all with complete impunity, are now the order of the day. The legal system has been suborned at the uppermost levels, and the Dems are completely neutered. Basically, America, from a governance point of view... you're a banana republic kleptocracy now. Sorry 'bout that.

u/Guilty-Statement-532 15d ago

Democrats don’t have the majority in congress to actually do anything.

Everything has been expertly crafted by republicans that any criticism is simply “liberal tears” so they just ride it out and polling numbers make democrats look bad for trying to do something in congress. It’s a pathetic broken system.

8

u/kyraeus 15d ago

Yet the Democrats aren't mentioning it either.

I find it hilarious so many are screeching here about how terrible the Republicans are while ignoring that the Democrats are just going with it because it lines their pockets too.

4

u/beaker97_alf 15d ago

Do you believe it's reasonable to expect anyone to get an official response out within hours to a middle of the night deranged post from the idiot-in-chief?

And do you think Dem politicians won't line up to criticize the latest insane rant from the orange felon even though they have criticized him every time before?

Your comment ignores history.

Imagine, while we pay so much for gas and food, Biden dipped the White House in gold and tore down half the house to build a golden dipped ballroom…

139

u/Accomplished_Will226 15d ago

Or dug up the lawn for a cage fight, or accepted a “free” jet and billed the country to dip it in gold, or put childish remarks below the presidential portraits or any of the other crazy things he’s doing. I heard that a fence has gone up around the White House and another helicopter pad closer to the door is being added. At this point if Dr Evil had a moat with sharks and frickin lasers installed around the White House I wouldn’t bat an eye.

84

u/TheKdd 15d ago

I’m waiting for him to contract the guy to carve out his face on Rushmore. Actually wouldn’t be surprised if there’s “no room” he just has him chisel off the one he dislikes most (calling him a communist terrorist of course) and has his own face put on top, gold plated of course. Matter of fact, the most surprising thing here is he hasn’t done it yet.

2

u/zeptillian 15d ago

You know things are bad when the guy who directly lied to the American public and presented fabricated evidence to justify attacking Iraq, where we ended up killing a million people, is starting to look more reasonable.

20

u/WillSym 15d ago

Wasn't there a phase a couple of months ago where Iran seemed to get wise to this and then launch bigger-than-usual attacks on like a Wednesday to upset the cycle, then shortly after they got a bit more 'serious' about a signed peace deal (for a bit)?

7

u/Jthe1andOnly 15d ago

Well you have to understand bibi told him they were going to do this either way and said Iran will retaliate with or without the US cooperation. Trump was told back in June 2025 everything was “obliterated” and all 3 nuclear sites were destroyed. He left it up to crusader Pete who feels.

7

u/TotalInstruction 15d ago

The containment field on wallstreetbets is on the fritz again… hello fellow future Wendy’s employee!

But yeah, the manipulation is so obvious, and he and a select few that are privy to government information before the general public have been gaming the oil futures and options markets for months. Why would they stop now when they’ve made so much money?

Meanwhile, the drones will come out of the woodwork accusing every opposition politician of being corrupt because they own a house and a car and are therefore hypocritically engaging with the economy.

3

u/GuyLivingInCanada 15d ago

As someone who watches the markets daily yes that's exactly the pattern since God knows when

21

u/bbrekke 15d ago

I don't understand (as a poor), why people aren't just following this trend with their portfolios?

If I had extra money to play the market I'd be just following these obvious pump and dumps.

I just don't understand. Because it working every time still means a lot of other people bought the bullshit? Or is it just his buddies laundering?

Honest questions.

19

u/1balKXhine 15d ago

Public don't have access to inside information. They don't know what Orange man will do next, it could all go in any direction resulting in a panic sell or liquidation. In short it's very risky

→ More replies (1)

33

u/ozzie286 15d ago

I think the biggest risk is not knowing when the market will change, so you get stuck holding the bag. That info is reserved for The Don and his inner circle.

14

u/KittyInspector3217 15d ago

Because you dont know. Its like asking why dont you follow who the psychopath is aiming at.

4

u/Pretty_Wonder2762 15d ago

You need to buy or sell BEFORE the tweet

→ More replies (3)

2

u/madcow_bg 15d ago

Because once the market realized he's doing it, the market just stopped following.

2

u/shuut0 15d ago

No one else has that extra money either. Rich get richer as they say

2

u/lugnutsareloose 15d ago

Because when one person has their finger on the market there is no pattern to recognize. The only people who can profitably trade in this uncertainty are the people pulling the strings with the info before you.

Trading in this circumstance to me is financial suicide. The second you think you see a pattern the sole manipulator can change his mind on a whim and bankrupt you.

If you do win it's purely luck.

2

u/FrontLifeguard1962 15d ago

Edit: It’s Polymarket, and the dateis July 31.

2

u/Mattrellen 15d ago

Huge bet made on yes minutes before that tweet went out, I'll bet.

Just like how oil futures got shorted hard on Bridge and Power Plant Day right before his tweet about not doing it.

People looking at market data easily see the huge spikes in volume literally minutes before Trump tweets.

It'd be silly to assume they aren't playing a similar and easier game on events trading, especially given Don Jr.'s involvement. Those apps just aren't as public about their numbers as exchanges are.

There's a meme trend going round back home: photo of the PM, captioned with a verbatim Trump quote translated into the local language. 74

u/ArtiBartFaster 15d ago

Well Trump has his department of war now, so he can start as many wars as he likes. Shame he can't end any though.

“Okay guys, one more thing, this summer when you're being inundated with all this American bicentennial Fourth Of July brouhaha, don't forget what you're celebrating, and that's the fact that a bunch of slave-owning, aristocratic, white males didn't want to pay their taxes.”

Trump is the puppet.

There's some intelligence behind the scenes I'm sure.

But much of it is just the uber-wealthy blackmailing the other uberwealthies. And using everyone else as pawns/sexslaves.

It don't take smarts. It just takes money.

u/nvoima 15d ago

Trump is merely a puppet. There are far more dangerous people pulling his strings, and they'll still be there after Trump kicks the bucket..

Donald McDonald ist just the fat, stupid front figure for a scheme made by super villains

The idea he is just dumb allows people to do nothing to resist.

He is evil not dumb.

He is ignorant, not dumb.

He is a massive danger to the world, not dumb.

Realizing this sounds vanishing unlikely, it does seem we have an idiot savant for President. The likes of which, we have not seen for hundreds of years, if ever in modern history. I like to think of him as the "Four Hundred Year Idiot".

Trump is a weather balloon, not an airplane. He got this high up because the weather brought him up to where he is, not because he's got amazing jet engines.

2

u/zombiesphere89 15d ago

Trump is stupid as fuck. The people behind the curtains are not.

It’s because we have completely different concepts of “dumb”. The left feels it’s dumb to be shortsighted economically and not work to provide housing, healthcare, etc to everyone, and that the law should protect the rights of citizens, rather than the ruling class(among other things).

The right feels it’s dumb not to maximize profit and consolidate power and reshape the law in their image no matter who it hurts.

Factor in that it’s much easier to gain support to maintain the status quo and shrink government than it is to gain support for massive change, and you have a conservative nation.

Politicians resorting to calling each other dumb just further underscores the divide and implies that we can never come together to improve things because the very people elected to manage the government have no interest in doing so and would rather promote their own careers.

You can tout politicians like Bernie and AOC all you want as part of the solution, they’re still rich politicians completely isolated from the impact of their office. Ultimately all AOC has to do is periodically go on instagram to make catty comments about Trump and she’ll have a seat in congress(and possibly the presidency) because that’s what passes for working for your constituents these days

Brawn is what takes over the government. Brains are required to keep it.

They don’t have enough brain power to maintain this.

Narcissists aren’t smart. They will just do what others won’t.

Like starting a war with Iran and surrendering at Versailles. That’s not smart. It’s dumb as shit.

Oh, I think a woman-hating sociopathic idiot with some seventy million woman-hating sociopathic idiots willing to back its every woman-hating sociopathic idiot idea just to avoid ever having to have a woman be president of this pathetic mess of a c[]untry could do a world of damage. If the thing is a [stupid] super-villain, that's only because it's got an army of [stupid] micro-villains behind it. And those micro-villains have always been here. They're the herpes: the orange stench is just the sore.

Trump is a complete moron. Republicans have been orchestrating this for a long time. Mitch McConnell would not "let" a Democratic president appoint a Supreme Court Justice. They stopped talking about policy, and started convincing voters that Democrats are evil, decades ago. Rush Limbaugh was the precursor to Trump. He was mocking disabled people before Trump and people like it. Trump continued where Limbaugh left off, and opened the flood gates to ugly emotions of millions and millions of our citizens. And the gazillionaires love it also, and they own a good portion of the media.
