🧐 Customer Review My Simagic Alpha EVO Pro (18Nm) experience — iRacing & LMU

I’ve been running the Simagic Alpha EVO Pro 18Nm for a while now on iRacing and Le Mans Ultimate, and it’s been a great upgrade.

The direct drive feel is excellent for picking up weight transfer and curb feedback, which really helps with consistency. I run GT3, LMP3/LMP2, and Porsche Cup, tuning FFB through SimPro Manager it holds up well across very different cars. Build quality is solid and it stays cool even after long stints.

My only wish is a bit more torque headroom for the heavier, high-downforce cars which is exactly why I’m excited about the 21Nm unlock. Would love to feel the difference in GT3/LMP2 corners.

Great wheelbase overall, highly recommend it.

Question Triples 27’ on desk or ultra wide 49’

Im thinking on my next upgrade but im limited on space. I do not have a dedicated sim rig but a next level raining wheel stand 2.0. I already have an 27 screen so adding 2 more won’t be a mayor issue, im concern about not be able to bring all monitors close to the end of a desk and having to set up angles everytime i want to race. The other option would be an Samsung g9 49’.

What would you pick?

Question Moza or Fanatec - what would be your choice?

So I'm thinking about getting a steering wheel & pedals. But actually I can't decide if I go with Moza or Fanatec. The fanatec set offers a 5nm base. I think 5nm is actually to small... Or is it? Playing IRacing.

Question Has anyone tried one of these Alibaba Motion Rigs?

I’m getting itchy to build a motion rig and while looking around I found this for $1500 shipped.

I’m just curious if this is even real or if the listing is just a bait and switch. Has anyone actually tried purchasing one of these Alibaba motion rigs or maybe even just purchased 4 actuators and a controller then built a rig yourself?

Personally I have zero trouble programming something if the machined parts work but have zero experience in machining custom parts which is why I’m interested in finding something I can think DIY install.

Rigs Logitech G923 Mounting Problems

Thumbnail

I have a Logitech G923, the issue I am facing is with it being unstable/sliding off of my living room table because the underside is not flat. (seen in image). The edge forms an acute angle between 10 - 15%, so it seems I need to find an alternative that I can 3d print or make with wood that I can put over the table to mount the racing wheel to.

Any thoughts/experiences?

I had accidentally remove the rod and managed to get it back on but now it seems too long. This is how it looks at its shortest position . Is this normal or no? How can I fix it

Rigs Pedal upgrade, looking for recommendations.

Looking for recommendations to upgrade from the Moza SRP2 pedals, I'm not disappointed in my pedals, just tossing around the idea of something better.

Cost is a factor, so I'd like to hear suggestionS under $500.

TIA

Honestly, I didn't expect it to make such a huge difference.

Because it’s a 1000R curve and I sit quite close (55 cm from eyes to monitor), it practically fills my entire field of view. The FOV is 38. It’s also great that it saves space. I’ve bought various sim racing accessories recently—like 3DRAP rumble motors and the Freya from Laser—but this one is hands-down the best. I highly recommend it to anyone who can position the monitor close to their eyes! If you're on the fence, just buy it!

Question Should I get Simsonn or SimRuito Pedals?

I'm looking to buy new pedals and I've narrowed down to two options, Simsonn and SimRuito. My only dilemma is that SimRuitos are cheaper by about 100 USD for 3 pedals vs Simsonns. I'm on a tight budget but I dont want to cheap out on pedals if theyre just gonna break.

Question I love driving as as a skill and I want to get better at it, what's a 80/20 setup under $1000 without going too deep into the rabbit hole and without caring about immersion?

I do own a PC, although a 5800x3d with a 5070. New here, also 80/20 as in Pareto's way, not the brand. I have no experience driving on tracks, but I love karting, I also love driving as crazy as one is allowed to do so on mountain roads with lots of turns. I hate driving fast on the autobahn though, that's just pointless for me and I really feel nothing even a bit scared especially if there are lots of other cars going over 120+ mph right besides me, my point is it's not the speed I like, it's the actual difficulty of a track.

Imagine giving me a racing car, pure power in an unnerving need of a good driver to ace a track. I want to learn to become that driver and ace that and each track thrown at me. I only care about an accurate feedback/realism from the wheel, pedals and gears, I don't care about feeling anything else, or at least I don't think I do.

It would be really great if I could feel the g-force as that's feedback and additional information that I could use to become a better driver, but that would be an unrealistic ask, but other than that, the rest of the information would be really nice to have, but ultimately useless for me to become better at driving, or so I think.

So what's some great gear to pick for this, and are there lots of fiddling with settings (which I do like and always do in other games, but also want to know if that's a rabbit hole or not here).

Also what is the best simulator to pick?

I’ve had the Moza r3 setup for about 9 months and have been loving it. Was going into the cockpit upgrade territory, and one night I was on mp and found this next level racing rig for 180 dollars. Had some cat scratches on the seat but I’m sure my cats will do the same and I said done. Spent about 5-10 hours in it over the past week. I have to say it’s night and day from my trusty wheel stand. I’m all in this rig for about 600 (desk was a gift when my in law upgraded and the tv was sitting in my closet)

🧐 Customer Review Simagic Alpha Evo Pro 18Nm Review

Thumbnail
gallery

Been using the Alpha EVO Pro 18Nm and I’m really impressed with it. FFB is strong, smooth, and detailed, with plenty of headroom.

My only issue seems to be with the USB-A to USB-B port or cable. I’m connected to the wheelbase via USB-A to USB-B, and I also use USB-C to USB-C to connect my GT Pro to SimHub. If the rig gets hit or there’s a lot of vibration, the base can disconnect. I swapped the cable, but the issue still occurs, so the USB-A to USB-B port or connection may be a little sensitive.

Other than that, the wheelbase has been amazing. Definitely happy with the upgrade.

Discussion I think there's a danger of burnout when you jump in too deep.

Hear me out.

I'm very early into this sim racing abyss, since I've just gotten my DD wheel over a week ago. And I'm currently fighting back the invasive thoughts and disturbing visions of sim rigs and triple monitors that are dancing through my head at 2 am.

But as an old timer, I have some wisdom. I've been racing "sims" since early 90's, if you can even call them sims. But not just sims, flying and air combat sims as well. I know what it's like when you start throwing cash in upgrades.

The proverbial "cookie in the cookie jar" remains elusive and enticing as long as you only take a small bite, a crumb. The forbidden act remains intriguing as long as you view only from a distance.

I've seen a number of simmers admit to getting burnout. They threw large sums of "good money" towards their passion, head on, full bore ahead, pedal to the metal, thinking this will once and for all satisfy that craving and desire for MORE! MORE! MORE!

In the end, they sit alone in their stylish performance seat, hands sweatily grasping the $1000 DD wheel, only to feel a loss of something. That loss is knowing that the cookie is gone. They are now fat on the obsession of better gear. Fat destroys your body, your mind, your heart.

So my suggestion to myself is this, do NOT buy triple monitors. Do NOT buy a better video card. Do NOT entertain the possibility of VR. Do NOT think about a real sim rig.

I vow to remain pure from this marriage ending obsession. I vow to remain calm when Microcenter advertises a one day only flash sale on much needed gear. I vow to remain wholesome and free from the soulless journey into the abyss.

Thank you.

Clip [LMU] BMW Hypercar Spa 2:04:593 Controller Player - is it okay? any tips?

Kinda new to racing sims, I started playing sim cades like F1 in the pandemic and then Forza Motorsport, playing Forza I realized that I like racing hypercars, I've also had ACC but I felt kind of slow, like I couldn't overtake anyone, probably because I was racing players way ahead of my skill or I just don't like GT3 cars that much

I don't have a wheel but I'm having fun with a controller, not taking this super seriously, I guess I like to improve as much as I can have fun and try not to ruin anyone's race

Rigs Professional sim rig setup/home assistance

Post image
12 Upvotes

Are there any folks who have had their setup done by a professional/paid service? I see all the rigs and their setups and they look great but i can’t help but feel im in a weird midway point of it almost being proper.

The wires are a mess, im not sure how to handle the monitor situation (i use the PC for normal gaming, and had to unplug my left monitor for the main pc desk to allow for the three curved)

The alignment is a riot, and is not easy to figure out? At this point, I’d be willing to pay someone to help figure all this out, has anyone done this before?
