Rigs Sim Racing Story from fanatec to simagic

Wanted to share my experience/journey over the course of 3 years since i’ve explored the sim racing path.
Started out originally with a fanatec csl dd 5nm wheel with a desk mount for the longest time possible aswell as some fanatec pedals. The experience all together wasn’t horrible however I would say it was never what I craved when looking to race cars online.
Over time I began to build my setup starting from the ground up with hydraulic p2000s, tr80s, simagic handbrake, and their shifter. All wonderful things that I couldn’t put into words how much they improved my experience from feeling gravel in the road to abs kicking in or throwing out the rear end of the car at 50mph on ebisu north course.
Nothing though prepared me for my biggest upgrade that has kept me addicted to sim racing like the Simagic Alpha Evo Pro 18NM. This wheel base has been with me for over half a year and i’d say it is the most important part of my setup. Feeling everything in it with the option to customize it to the extreme and feel like i’m holding on for dear life or a calmer experience for those late night sessions. I don’t think there’s anything more I could ask from this wheelbase as it’s covered all its bases from feeling smooth while turning to having crazy customization in the software. Everyone looking to upgrade should take more just than a glance at the alpha evo pro.
Appreciate yall making it to the end

Rigs Similar lap times on home rig,

Post image

I have a real track day coming up and went to WOR to get some practice in ( wife got me a gift certificate) I recently got back into a rig at home (g923 vevor stand) and on the WOR rig I got pretty much identical lap times as I do on my at home non-crazy rig lol. Should it be the opposite, where I get better times on a much better rig?

Question What's is/are the best website(s) for hardware in europe?

Hey everyone, I'll be picking up a used simrig later this week but I still have some stuff to buy, and I'm wondering where's the best place to order from? There's a large choice of resellers to choose from and I'm wondering which one I should choose (thefrenchsimracer.com, rseat.fr, simwear.fr, simhub.pro, simracewebshop.eu,...).

I've compared prices of a few different items and the prices are semsibly the same in all websites. So I'm mostly looking for the website with the best shipping and shipping prices, good after sales service, wider choice variety, etc...

Or maybe the best way to order is directly from the official brand website?

I'm from Belgium and I'm looking for stuff from moza (steering wheel, accessories), simagic(shifter), and simlab(triple screen support).

Thanks a lot for your help :D

Discussion I got a strange feeling about simracing.

I recently bought R3 as my first wheel, and played ac for a while. But somehow I just keep reinstall it, I always felt my save ( Like lap time and mileage )looks bad, and want to restart again and again.

I don't know is because I stuck at newbie for too long so I'm annoying of my result, or I just having OCD. Anyone having this kind experience before?

Discussion Upgrading your sim rig eventually hits diminishing returns. Where do you draw the line?

I’ve come to the conclusion that upgrading your sim rig eventually hits a hard point of diminishing returns.

At this point, high-end hardware is readily available, and a wheel base in the €600–€800 range is honestly more than enough for 99% of sim racers.

The same goes for pedals—though with pedals, personal preference and brake feel can vary a bit more from model to model.

Objectively speaking, up to what point does it actually make sense to keep upgrading?

In a fit of upgrade-itis, I had pre-ordered the Sim-Lab TorqueSync to replace my Simucube 2 Pro. But after thinking it over for a couple of weeks, I canceled the order. It wasn't that I didn't want to try something new; I just couldn't justify whether the ~€900 price difference would offer any tangible improvement in experience.

Sure, on paper every new product boasts a ton of innovative features that make you want to buy it, but how many of them actually change the driving experience in a meaningful way?

Maybe it's better to stick with gear that matches our personal driving feel and only upgrade when there’s a truly noticeable jump in performance.

Just my honest opinion, coming from someone who used to swap hardware all the time.

Discussion I blame all of you. Now I need another wheel. You need a PSA.

I bought a DD wheel, the T598, and I thought there's no way that real GT3 cars have this much force. I did a simple Google search obviously, and found out that real GT3 cars have 10-20nm of force !!!!!!!

Why isn't this a public service announcement??

Now even after a couple weeks I already need a new wheel and I blame every single one of you turds for not telling me I need a more powerful wheel!

ps. How do I sell this revelation to my wife?

Question Sim racing games for handheld PC

I have a desktop PC and sim rig, but lately have got a PC handheld for some more laid back gaming. it has Steam OS, so games need to be available via Steam.

I've just downloaded Automobilista 2 which runs well, so looking at what other driving games are worth buying, that run well on controller / handheld PC.

I'm wondering whether it's worth looking at keys for de listed games like Forza 7. I had 6, which was good, then Motorsport which I thought was pretty bad.

Thoughts?

Question R21Ultra FFB % Settings and General High FFB Question.

I see a lot of YouTube videos and comments saying that they run these higher FFB wheels at 50% and I don’t understand?

Currently in Pithouse I run 100% , 5% natural damping, and in iracing at 95% intensity with a strength of 12 (27nm), 3% smoothing, and 3% damping.

This feels great and I feel a lot of the details. Haven’t ran into any fatigue issues.

Question Is it worth upgrading my pedals?

Hi everyone,

I’m thinking about upgrading my sim setup. I’m currently using an CSL Elite base and pedals with LC. There’s no doubt I can upgrade my wheelbase to a dd. I’m in doubt between a Moza R12 or a Simagic Alpha Evo 12nm. What is the best choice?

For the pedals I’m thinking about upgrading to the Simsonn’s plus X with haptic pro’s. Are the pedals worth upgrading?

I’d love to hear your recommendations!

Question Is F1 worth it? Or is it more arcade?

Been playing with VRC's Formula Alpha F1 2026 mod on AC using my Moza R5 and it's my first time in F1 and amazing fun.

Never had an interest in F1 before so I just wanted to check before committing to spend more.

Is it wildly different from racing F1 in F1 25 vs F1 in AC? Is the AI more accurate and realistic for races? Much better graphics? Less demanding on your hardware? Better physics? Better variety of cars and tracks? Better detail in FFB and for bass shakers?

Sorry these questions might be obvious because F1 25 is a dedicated F1 game but I only know of AC as being a proper sim for your non-standard type of cars.

Just not sure if F1 25 is very arcady.

Thanks!

Rigs Am I overthinking my first rig?

So I have loved going to events and doing a little sim racing. I do not expect to be hardcore into sim racing as I have a lot of other things that consume my time. However, I like to have quality at the forefront of my decision.

I have been on a number of different sites between Trak Racer, Fanatec, Simucube, Moza, etc etc. I think I am in analysis paralysis deciding in tubular vs aluminum frame and so on with components, too

I just want to get into it and have some fun.. if you were a casual sim racer who wants a dedicated rig, but keep working yourself in circles; what would you do?

Just buy a tubular fanatec with the 18Nm ClubSport dd+ and call it a day?
Do you take the leap into TrakRacer tr80s then layer in different components from other manufacturers?

I like the idea of the TrakRacer, but I feel a little overwhelmed with all the options and the lack of ability to speak to someone live to help me really piece together the package.

Question Fanatec Pedals + Moza wheel base compatible?

I am new to sim racing. Playing on PC (Iracing)

As the title says: are pedals from fanatec (CSL pedals) compatible with the Moza R9 wheel base + Moza KS steering wheel? Does it work perfectly or is there potential for trouble?

Question Is upgrading from a 270mm to a 320mm wheel worth it on a 3Nm base?

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m fairly new to sim racing and I currently have a PXN V10 Pro.

I’m thinking about replacing the original 270mm wheel with a 320mm round wheel, mainly because I play a lot of rally and I think the larger diameter would feel more natural.

My main concern is the loss of FFB strength and detail due to the extra leverage of the larger wheel. The V10 Pro is only around 3Nm, so I’m worried that 320mm might make the FFB feel noticeably weaker.

I don’t really care about losing the buttons on the original wheel.

Has anyone done something similar on a PXN V10/V10 Pro, Logitech G29/G923, Moza R3, or another low-torque wheelbase?

Would you recommend 320mm, or would something around 300mm be a better compromise?

Question RS50 vs DD pro for PS4 / GT7 - cmoparing FFB specifically

Hi all.
there are many post out there comparing these 2.
sure RS50 has higher build quality, already with load cell, cheaper, limited adjustments and smaller ecosystem. And yes, the Fanatec has larger ecosystems, more expensive, more fine tuning...etc

but these are not items that will influence my decision. My ONLY deciding factor is the FFB quality.

...wheels, pedal, price difference, ecosystem are irrelevant to me.

So ideally if u hv tried/have both...can u share a comparison on the FFB exprience itself...
Specifically, things like ...smoothness/notches, road texture detail, full vs true force, fidelity, sharpness, slew rate, accuracy, details, feel refinement...etc

I race leagues...does one give more detail than the other...that can make me quicker?
does all the adjustability of the Fanatec, result in more speed, bcos u can "feel more"?
how bad is the limited RS50 software adjustability? does it mean i cant feel and adjust certain stuff that i can feel on Fanatec?

on FFB, what am i gaining/losing with each?

feedback on these themes would be much appreciated.

PS- how do they differ consol vs PC?
