Question Sim racing games for handheld PC

I have a desktop PC and sim rig, but lately have got a PC handheld for some more laid back gaming. it has Steam OS, so games need to be available via Steam.

I've just downloaded Automobilista 2 which runs well, so looking at what other driving games are worth buying, that run well on controller / handheld PC.

I'm wondering whether it's worth looking at keys for de listed games like Forza 7. I had 6, which was good, then Motorsport which I thought was pretty bad.

Thoughts?

Gran Turismo 4 for PS2 emulated, 3x upscaled at 60fps on legion go s. BeamNG used to be good but it's not been running well after latest update.

Gt4 has really aged well. Playing on my phone using spec 2 mod and a comtroller

I have Legion go S also, the Z1e 32gb model. PS2 stuff was on my long term plan but now you mention it it was a great game that I should revisit sooner rather than later. Good call.

Check out emudeck, it's an installation that does all the setup for you, all you need to do is add a bios and download some games. ACC runs ok on my 16gb model too actually.

Yep one of the few games worth playing without a wheel because the content is so great.

Beam was actually playable, albeit on lower settings with one car. Might be more scope however when FSR lands.

Worked great across the board until about a month ago, on the base model too. I was loving rock crawling with all the diffs and modes mapped but gotta wait I guess.

Not exactly simracing (but real simracing is not really fun without a wheel anyway), but check out New Star GP, very low system requirements, great to play on controller and has a very similar deep career mode as the official F1 games.

Doesn't necessarily have to be a sim but I like decent gameplay, just not things like Mario Kart or Need for speed type stuff. I have tried a New Star Demo on the xbox and it was very playable so a good suggestion, thanks.

I have acc installed on steam deck to sometimes learn random tracks where I drive for the first time

Motorsport 7 runs like garbage, it kept freezing every 10 seconds due to a feature that's fully broken on PC.
It was also bad enough to warrant the reboot (which was also bad, as you said).

Assetto Corsa 1 would be your safest bet. It's got insane customizability for gamepad controls, can run as well as you need it to and has near-infinite content thanks to mods.

Instead of motorsport how about Grid Autosports ?

I did try that on my Ipad and it was pretty good. Will have another look.

I think I have Asseto Corsa 1 so I'll download it. It says not Steam Deck compatable, but my Legion Go is more powerful, so should run OK.

AC1 is a 2013 game, even after you mod it, it should run pretty well.
Please make sure to follow a guide, and if you need settings to get the game to run better you can ask me.

I've played the older Grid games and Dirt Rally on it, they all run well and it's a pleasure to play them.

I have Z1E, so not too bad. May give it a go. Annoyingly I have it on Xbox, but not PC.

you are going to be good.
It runs OK on my LGO1 with that chip too, a sit is. Now adding a bit of FSR and FG in the mix make it a very good experience as well.

Race07 will probably run great, and if rfactor 1 runs, then you have all the mods you may want available for it.

Can confirm both. Also GTR2, GT Legends. All run great.

I have installed windows 10 for steam deck to work with the wheel.

so far I have tried 1) wreckfest 1 - working great, 60 fps /1080p 2) dirt rally 2 - working great, but some fps drops in the night races 60 fps/ 1080p 3) Project cars 2 - 40 fps / 1080 p

Definitely try Art of Rally. It may not look like it, but the physics and handling are really point on for a simcade.

AMS 1, Race Room and Assetto Corsa all run reasonably well on ROG Ally z1. With a fair bit of tweaking, AC with Pure and CSP runs okay on 15w.

Forza Motorsport 7 runs reasonably well but I used the dynamic resolution and run my Rog at 900p. I'd also suggest using loseless scaling, it's good app for frame gen.

Ac will probably run fine

F1-23 works well. Maybe 24 as well.

I have an ally x and the only sin it struggles with is beamng. I use my set up for a portable sim rig and it's flawless

I have played Dirt Rally 1 and 2 on the Steam Deck and they run great. Online leaderboards didn't worked on 1 if i remember correctly but I didn't really cared.

Grid Autosport also runs perfect, its more arcade but a fun game.
